Mathias (#1 The Chronicles of the Demon Wolf)

Chapter 27

The Goddess of Death laughs maniacally as she struck the towns close to the Diamond Palace. Thousands of Angels fly to the sky and dive down to save all those souls from her rampant. The Moon Goddess claps her hands. A big diamond dome rises from the ground, trapping both herself and the Goddess of Death inside.

The Goddess of Death laughs again. “You can’t stop.”

“Enough with destruction,” The Moon Goddess says.

“You lived up here, worshipped, and loved by everyone while I was imprisoned inside the darkness. But you still have the audacity to stop me from destroying your kingdom,” she spat out. Tears pool in her eyes. “I begged for you to save me but you never listened...No, you refused to listen.” her eyes burned with pure hatred. “Now, you have no choice but to listen!”

“The fault is on me only and not everyone else. Leave them be.”

“No,” she smiled. “Everything you’ve created has to-”

Suddenly, the Goddess of Death shrieks painfully. The bones underneath her skin begin to shift violently causing her to collapse on the floor in pain. Her skin begins to disintegrate slowly.

“What have you done to me?” she asked the Moon Goddess.

“This vessel I’ve created for you had been unoccupied for millennia since you were captured into the Pandora Box. Then, I’ve gifted this body a soul to keep it alive. Now, this soul is taking back what once belonged to her,” The Moon Goddess answered.

The Goddess of Death continues to shriek in pain, curling and uncurling on the cold floor. What seems to go on forever eventually happened. The vessel separated into two identical persons. One contains the Goddess of Death and another contains Chelsea who shifted into her demon wolf form.

“One is good. One is bad,” the Moon Goddess said.

But she’s completely wrong. Dozens of Angels come in and try to contain Chelsea’s demon wolf, only to provoke her into berserk mode. The Goddess of Death continues to attack Moon Goddess while Chelsea battles the Angels.

“There was no more kindness in her soul, sister,” The Goddess of Death laughs. “I’ve seen everything in her soul. The girl you thought was good is no longer there. Now, witness her unleashing havoc!”

Mustering her ultimate power, the Goddess of Death breaks the entire diamond dome and yells to Chelsea to escape. Without looking back, Chelsea escapes and rushes to the bridge that connects the kingdom to the world of the living. Thousands of Angels do their best to prevent Chelsea from escaping the kingdom. One by one died by her claws. As soon as she sees two large pillars made of diamond hovering at the end of the bridge, Chelsea picks her pace and heads straight.

Before reaching the portal, Chelsea makes one big leap upward and then dives down. She lands on the bridge with a large tremor, sending the Angels backward further than their initial position. The bridge cracks and collapses. Chelsea makes a final run to the portal and hits the pillars just before she jumps into the portal.

“Brother, stop.” Ryker stands between Mathias and Zeke.

“Move aside, Ryker,” Tanto growls. “He deserves what’s coming. Thousands of lives trapped inside the trees and there’s nothing we could do to take them out without jeopardizing their lives.”

Ryker shakes his head adamantly. When he saw what was piled up under the cliff, Ryker realized the war was no longer intended to revenge for what Mathias did to Arthur. It was for the revenge of what the Kingsley family had taken from Arthur and Zeke wanted to avenge the death of his master. Everyone else is just a pawn in a bigger game.

“Look around you. Tell me what you see.” Ryker gestures to their surroundings.

Tanto and Mathias focus their sight to look around them. The longer they’re focusing, the more the truth begins to reveal itself. The trees around them aren’t trees. They are monsters with the ability to mimic the appearance of a tree. One by one the trees reveal their true appearance. From one tree to ten trees. From ten to a hundred. The number continues to grow until the entire forest isn’t a forest at all.

“Zeke distracted you both to lure you into a trap...” Ryker reveals with a deep sight. “...to lure us…”

They have walked into the enemy’s den. The mercenaries who were once standing in silence finally make their presence known once more. Grover stands up and holsters his gun.

“It’s Go Big or Go Home,” he yells before shooting one monster on the head.

Everyone jumps into the fight even though they are greatly outnumbered. Mathias goes after Arthur who suddenly makes an appearance in the battle. Arthur smiles before running towards Mathias.

“This is what you’ve wanted, Arthur. The war you’ve been craving for!” Mathias’ words echo into his mind.

Arthur chuckles, “Trust me, Mathias. It is more than a war that I’ve been craving for.”

Empty bullet shells drop on the ground like rain drops. Blood is spilled. Corpses are piling up. There is no retreating. This war has to come to an end sooner or later.

Mathias’s demon wolf covered in blood and open wounds. Same goes to Zeke. Both of them are still fighting strong against each other. What seems going forever eventually almost coming to an end.

A loud boom falls in the middle of the battle, sending a large shockwave. Before anyone is able to identify the fallen object, it disappears into thin air. Then, blood comes out of Zeke’s mouth and his chest is torn open. He falls to the ground just to reveal the person stands behind him.

Chelsea stands tall in her demon wolf form. She crushes Zeke's heart. Her chest heaved heavily while her blood red eyes focused on one person.

Mathias.
