Chapter 25
Darkness. Coldness. Emptiness.
Everything is there for her right now. She doesn’t know where she is. The last thing she remembers is the night Arthur made her his. Chelsea is now trapped somewhere unfamiliar to her. Then she thinks again and again the same question that has been hunting her since she’s here.
Did she die during the mating?
Cross-mating isn’t something that is encouraged to do. Some wouldn’t survive the mating. Some wouldn’t survive the pregnancy. It has too many complications and greater risks that could not be prevented. Does that mean she didn’t survive it?
“You’re not dead,” a beautiful voice says. “But you’ll be if you don’t fight to live.” she steps out of the darkness.
“Mrs.Kingsley…” Chelsea almost stutters at the stunning appearance of Mathias’ mother.
Adorning a long red dress with her beautiful hair on loose, Mira almost looked like a Goddess. Chelsea feels very small and incomparable to the greatest woman in the history of supernatural species.
“Call me Mira.” Mira smiles. “You’ve gone for a very long time, Chelsea.”
Chelsea cradles her knees to her chest and looks down. “I don’t know what to do. I feel all alone.”
“Do you recognize this room?” Mira walks around and stops before the huge double doors covered in chains.
“Yes. The home of the monster.”
“Did it ever talk to you?”
“No. It’s just growling all the time.”
Mira smiles again as a loud growl comes from behind the chained doors. “You didn’t listen enough. It is talking to you.”
Chelsea gets up from her feet and heads to the doors as well. All she could hear is just this menacing growl coming from the monster trapped behind the chained doors. No words. No nothing. Just loud growls.
“Oh you poor soul.” Mira places her hands on the doors. “She didn’t know how to listen to your words.”
“It’s just growling!” Chelsea replies in frustration. “No words or anything. Just growling.”
Mira places her hands on Chelsea’s ears, blocking every sound except for one. The sound of the growls.
“Focus on the growl. Feel it in your heart. It will tell you a tale you could never nor want to forget,” Mira instructs her.
Chelsea does her best to focus on the sound of the growls. Then, it happens. The voice hidden deep inside of the growls.
“Help...it’s...too...painful…”
“It says it’s too painful. What does that mean?” Chelsea asks. “Why are you in pain? Tell me.”
“Because you’re losing your will to live,” the Luna answers instead. “A demon wolf feeds on the emotion of its host. When you’re losing the will to live, you’re putting the demon wolf under a tremendous amount of pain and painful death.”
Chelsea drops on her knees, burying her face into her palms as she cries loudly. Guilty for everything that happened, Mira kneels before the young girl and holds her hands.
“What Mathias did to you was unforgivable. He is my son and I love him despite everything that has happened,” Mira said sadly. “There is a way to help your demon wolf to survive this. You need it as much as it needs you.”
“What do you mean?”
“When you mated with Arthur, you became weaker for a while. It happened. But Arthur is a daemon. It severed your connection with your demon wolf temporarily causing you to feel all of these negative emotions. A mating bond with a daemon is different from the mating bond between werewolves.”
“Help me, Luna. I’m scared.” Chelsea’s shoulders shake as she cried on.
“For now, there is nothing much I can do for you. In the real world, I’m comatose. The Goddess of Death occupied your body.”
Chelsea blinks slowly as the information is digested into her mind. That is why she feels like she’s being pushed out of her own body? The Goddess of Death occupied her body. Two souls could never share one body.
The Pandora box.
“The Pandora box...Arthur retrieved a box called the Pandora box from an old library in the desert,” Chelsea tells her. “And I helped him. I killed everyone in there.”
“You grow weaker, the Goddess of Death grows stronger. The weaker soul would have to leave the vessel.”
“I will die?”
“Not if you grow stronger than her.” Mira turns around and faces the chained box again. “There is a reason why everyone opposed the existence of a demon wolf. We are much stronger when we are in control of our own mind and body.”
Once again, Mira touches the box. This time her eyes pupil dilated briefly before pulling her hand abruptly as if the box burnt her skin. Her lips tremble and tears pool in her eyes. The demon wolf has shown her something. Something that has yet to happen.
“Luna, are you alright?”
“Y-Yes…” Mira replied quickly.
A quick change of scene snaps into Chelsea’s memory causing her to fall to her knees. A brief thump caused her head to feel heavy. Her hands support her head as she tries to ease the thump.
“I saw sunset. What does that mean? Is that my memory?” Chelsea questions as Mira helps her to stand once more.
“Probably nothing,” Mira answers. “It happened because of the blood. It’s probably Mathias’ memory finally unlocked inside your mind. When he bit you, his demon wolf DNA fused with your wolf DNA. Sometimes, it caused memories to transfer as well.”
The luna makes a circular movement with her hand. A small white crystal hovers above her palm and she hands it to Chelsea who hesitates to take it.
“The key to unlock the chain,” she tells her.
Chelsea looks at the glowing crystal. “But what if I can’t control it?”
“Trust me.” Mira places the glowing crystal on Chelsea’s palm. Then, Mira collapses to the floor.
“Luna!” Chelsea screams.
“The Heart is growing weaker. Those who are trapped inside the corrupted trees are losing their lives. I’m growing weaker, Chelsea. You are immune to this effect because you’re mated to the man who corrupted the Heart.”
“Tell me what I should do, Luna.”
“Don’t ever give up, Chelsea. This is your body. Your mind. It has to follow your commands, not the other way round.”
“Mira! Mira!” a voice yells Mira’s name. “We’re going to lose her. Get Stefano now!”
“Luna, you’re dying…” Chelsea mumbles.
“We’re all are.” Mira wraps her hand around Chelsea’s. “Unchain the box. Tame the demon wolf. Only then you can get back your body. But it would be a hard battle.”
Chelsea nods before Mira dissipates into a white smoke and vanishes. Picking up the last will in her, Chelsea walks to the chained box. The growl becomes louder and louder with every step she takes. Soon, the hidden voice in the growl is no longer asking for her help. It’s asking her to free it. To free it from the chained box.

The doctor resuscitates Mira a few times until they finally see a sign of life on her heart monitor. Her eyes open briefly and her mouth moves as if she tries to talk. Stefano leans closer to listen to what she has to say.
“I understand,” Stefano replies and nods to her.
Nodding her head weakly, Mira ceases back into the coma. It is the only way to help her body heal.
“What did momma say?” Bonnie, the youngest of Mira’s children, asks him.
“Prepare for battle,” Stefano replies.
