Chapter 27 Meeting Vasil
His room shouldn’t be called a room. It is bigger than Ela’s and I see multiple doorways. Igétas enters his room and waits for me to come inside. Not only is there a massive bedroom, but also a sitting area and what looks like an office. The colors are black, grey and dark blue, very manly. There are almost no personal touches except for a photo frame with a family. Two small boys hugging each other and two proud parents watching them. I feel myself move to the photo. A happy family once, it is just the two brothers now, ready for some confrontation in the near future.
“I like this.” I feel him standing behind me. He rests his head on my shoulder.
“Yeah,” is the only thing he says.
I like the smell of his room. It smells just like him with a hint of washing powder. Very clean.
“My feet are killing me.” I tell him.
“Let’s sit down and talk for a bit.” I nod and he disappears through the door on the right, while I take a seat on the couch. He comes back with tea and some cookies. After the breakfast I had, I don’t know if I ever want to eat again, so I let Igétas eat by himself.
“So, what’s your first impression of our pack?” Him saying our pack instead of my pack makes me smile. “It was intense, but everyone is so nice to me.” He seems happy with my small answer.
“Do you think they will fully accept me? Be honest.” I add.
“Of course,” he tells me, sitting down next to me. “You did a very nice job defending the children only a couple of days ago. You are my mate, the Beta female. Most of them have accepted you already. Did you see Ela and Amanda? You are so good with them. I think Ela looks up to you.”
“Yeah, Amanda said the same thing. You all are pretty amazing, being a werewolf must be very cool. I think I am jealous.” I fumble with my fingers.
“Vasil wants to say something to you. He has grown a lot since the first time we saw you. Can he come out?” His question comes to me like a shock. Is it the right time?
’Can, can you control him?” My voice is quiet.
’I think he can control himself.”
I raise my brow: ’You think?” That doesn’t sound like a promise.
“I know he can, but I don’t know if he’ll give control back easily. If I hold you apart too long it can be harmful in the future. Should I ask Oliver to be present?” he asks with his beautiful green eyes.
“Maybe you could ask him to stand a little further?” I ask timidly, I admit I am a little scared of the beast with the ability to be an Alpha wolf.
His eyes fog over and then he stands up and goes to sit on the table across from me, creating a little more distance between us.
“Ready?” he asks and I nod.
His eyes become golden and his posture changes, from sitting straight up to bending forward smirking at me. I stiffen in my seat.
“Hi mate, we finally meet.” His voice is raspier, but I know Igétas is still in there.
“Hi Vasil, nice to see you come out.” He chuckles and shakes his head.
“Igétas told you I have problems controlling my urges, but to see you scared of me hurts more than I thought.”
“I am sorry.” I try to relax, but I can’t help it.
“It is okay, I will make it quick today. Next time you will be getting to know me a lot better.” He winks at me.
“Listen, beautiful mate,” he says as I look at him, “you are perfect. I don’t care that you don’t have a wolf. Of course, I was worried that you wouldn’t have the werewolf abilities to defend yourself, but you are perfect. Do not be jealous of other werewolves, you are much prettier. And Goddess you are smart. So smart.” He says and I feel my cheeks heat up.
“Thank you,” I say, a little more relaxed.
“You know, it is an honor for a warrior wolf to be paired with a mate with a lower status. That means the Goddess knows you are strong. I am very strong to be mated to a human.” He makes me giggle. He sits tall on the table, almost hitting his chest like a gorilla.
He lights up at the sound. “I like your laugh, Igétas should make you laugh all the time.”
“I agree,” I smile at him, the tensions between us are almost completely gone.
“He wants to come back to the front,” he mumbles absently.
“So you don’t care that I am human?” I ask to be sure.
“No. You are mine, you are special. You saved the pack from danger. You are amazing!”
Just like that, his eyes start to swirl, mixing with green tones.
“Welcome back,” I say picking up my tea, watching him over the rim of the cup.
“I was never gone.”
I roll my eyes. “That was not as hard as you made it seem. He was very respectful. He is really cute.”
He chuckles. “Vasil says he isn’t cute, he is a mighty strong wolf.”
“Of course, he is,” I say sincerely, and then add, “a mighty strong cute wolf.”
Igétas smirks and I giggle. “He likes your laugh. He says only you can call him cute.”
My face turns serious, ready to make a joke: “He better only let me call him nicknames. If I find out another person calls you that, I don’t care if it is a wolf, I will rip them apart!”
Wow, that turned out to be more intense than I expected. I am a little taken aback by my own statement. Igétas hugs me. “And that, my human mate, is our bond getting stronger and stronger.”
I let him hold me for a couple of minutes, needing them to be close to me. I push him away gently.
“So, are we going to come up with a plan to make your brother be nice to me?”
“In a little bit, first we need to talk about mating. You met Vasil, he was very patient. I think we should think about taking the next step.”
I nod, “I am ready to take the next step with you.” I’ve become more certain over time that this is what I want.
“There is only one obstacle. You aren’t an official pack member, so we can’t complete the last step until that is handled.”
I am confused, why does he look so sad? “So, let’s make me a pack member.”
He presses his lips tight, and I wait.
“The Alpha is the one that should add you to the Pack, and I don’t think he is going to do it any time soon.”
My blood runs cold. He doesn’t want me here. Vasil is going to get stronger if we are fully mated. He doesn’t want that.
“He won’t allow us to mate.” Igétas says it and I see red.
