Chapter 14. Starlit Park
After dinner, Laker escaped his townhouse with Ostana in his arms, claiming that he had “pressing issues’ to deal with - though I am pretty sure the only “pressing issue’ was in his pants; leaving Emrys and I alone with each other. He sat on one side of the couch, me on the opposite and in front of us, some Netflix show played mindlessly on the television, my fingers busy texting my mom. Mom, 8:39 pm: How was your snow day?
Me, 8:39 pm: Good... How's June?
Mom, 8:40 pm: ? Annoying. Hardly anything happened but she's acting like she almost died
Me, 8:41 pm: 2?
“Celeste?” Emrys’ velvety voice drew me away from my phone and upon looking up, I was surprised when I noticed he had scooted closer - not by much but noticeable. Tonight his black locks were perfectly messy, golden skin flawless, and his scent seemed stronger though that might only be due to my heat...
"Yeah?" I couldn't stop the rouge that kissed my colourless cheeks from the way his stormy eyes softened every time he and I met our eyes.
Nervously, Emrys scratched the nape of his neck, moving his eyes from the tv and back to me. “Are you bored?”
I let out a laugh. “I guess so,"
Enjoying the way his own cheeks warmed with red, I could feel new waves of heat pulse through me; it was like when you are in front of a fire, the flames of red, orange, and yellows licking their up to the sky only to fall short and cry out in ashes. That warmth of wanting something that you cannot have, making the warmth turn into a fiery need that eats one from inside out.
“C'mon,” Emrys smiled as if he was a young child and praised for just speaking, his lips tilting upwards with mellow. “I know a place.”
I was speechless...
Above us, splatters of golds, silvers, and coppery tones littered the jet blue and inky sky, clouds of grey nonexistent, and a full moon illuminated the park where we now stood; trees to bushes hugged the area as buildings grew behind them. A gush of cold wind rushed past me, blowing my blonde locks behind me, and a sudden warmth met my hand.
“Do you like it?” A smile grew onto my lips and I could feel his tender stormy gaze watch me carefully as if he was scared I wouldn't, but Emrys knew me too well.
I nodded and looked over to him, giving him a reassuring squeeze with my hand. “I love it,”
Getting lost in each other's eyes, I couldn't help but take a step closer to mate, getting his scent of cedar and rain blessing my nose, letting the sparks dance over my skin with every passing second, and my breath got caught in my throat.
Goddess, he is flawless...
"How do you feel?” Emrys asked, letting his other hand grasp mine, standing in front of each other, our hands intertwining; just his touch made my heat simmer down, letting me gain control over myself and what urged me to mate with my mate.
"Honestly, I feel good right now... Not too hot, not to- ya’ know,” I let out an awkward chuckle, red painting my cheeks, and to avoid any more embarrassment about the zapping pleasure that wished to pool between my legs, I let my eyes wander past the God of the man in front of me and look towards the warm lighted Wexford light.
“Not to, what?” He laughed, moving his head to see my eyes. Humor pooled in his own, silver flakes swimming in those grey orbs.
Of course Emrys knew exactly what I meant, a knowing smirk resting, and moving his hand away from mine, he pinched my cheek.
“You're cute when your embarrassed,”
Failing to let my smile drop, I smacked his hand away and watched as he threw his head back with a roaring laugh.
“I am not cute,” Pushing my lip in a fake pout, I tried to pull away from Emrys but with his other hand still intertwined with mine, he pulled back; my chest hitting his, that hellish heat wavered though my body.
“You're right,” Emrys whispered, cupping my cheek with one hand and running the pad of his thumb over my cheek in slow, circular motions; my heart began to beat faster, breath shortened. “You're much more,”
Oh my Goddess...
Since no words could begin to form in both my head or my mouth, I bit my lip and looked up to his eyes through my long eyelashes; every part of my instinct wanted to push me further into him, make him take me here and now, fulfill our mating and be his for eternity-
Surprising my own self, I closed my eyes, pushing my toes up so that I could become taller and let my lips land on his; his lips of delicate pink making sparks of something so pleasant that I didn't even know the name of it filled my body. Heat disappearing my body, clearing my thoughts, and letting my whole self relax.
I pulled away from the short, yet sweet kiss, hoping to gauge Emrys’ reaction, but I hardly let my lips off his when Emrys bent his head down and caught my lips again; his hand that cupped my cheek tilted my face upwards.
Time froze, as it always seemed to do when we locked lips, and I hardly noticed that I released my hand from his only to lock my arms around his neck while he rested his hands on my waist momentarily before lifting me up. My legs wrapped around his waist and I mentally thanked the Moon Goddess that Emrys was smart enough to register my shortness.
The sweet kiss started to turn just a tad rougher, and before I knew it, my back was pushed up against one of the nearby tree trunks gently, and with each new kiss, I tightened my legs around Emrys’ waist, bringing his body closer to mine, feeling the sweet friction pooling beneath my-
Ring! Ring!
With a growl, Emrys placed one last possessive kiss to my now bruised lips then pulled away. Looking at his phone, he answered with a groan. “What?” He spat.
Seeing his reaction, I let out a small giggle; he must've been worked up just as I had been, and Emrys caught my small giggle, placing a short kiss to stop the sound playfully.
“Dude,” Laker. "Where you at?"
“Lessie and I are the park,”
"Oh?" He questioned sarcastically, making Emrys roll his eyes. “Are you-"
“Goodbye.” Emrys groaned, hanging up on Laker and pecking my lips with care. “I guess we better get back,”
I nodded and pulled him into another kiss.
