Chapter 744
Chapter 744 Charlie's Persuasion
He had seen Cristina upset by Eugene's aggressive mother. Despite Theresa and Brenda comforting her throughout the meal, Cristina still seemed angry.
Eugene asked, "May I check on her?"
Charlie hesitated, lost in thought. He was in a nasty mood today because Theresa didn't buy his words. However, Eugene's gaze reminded him of himself. He didn't want Eugene to end up like him, so he nodded in permission, saying, "Come in."
Theresa and Cristina had already returned to the room. Cristina was sitting on the couch while Theresa was helping her wipe her hands. "Don't overthink," she reassured. "After all, there are so many men in this world, and Eugene isn't the only one."
"But I just can't forget him," Cristina confessed, her eyes turning sad. "Whenever I close my eyes, I think of how his mother mistreated him."
Theresa reached out to gently touch Cristina's head, commenting. "You are trapped in love, my poor girl."
Just then, someone knocked on the door.
"Who's there?" Theresa inquired.
Charlie opened the door and showed his face.
Surprised to see him come back, Theresa stood up and walked to the door. "Didn't you leave?" she asked with confusion.
"Come out, I have something to tell you," Charlie beckoned.
Theresa then went out and closed the door. Noticing Eugene standing in the hallway next to Charlie. When she saw Eugene, she frowned. She believed that if it weren't for Eugene, Cristina wouldn't be like this now. "Why are you here?" Theresa demanded.
"I want to see how Cristina is doing," Eugene requested.
"What wouldn't you come earlier?" Theresa interrogated sharply. Even though Cristina was injured by Ella, Eugene hadn't inquired about Cristina until now, which infuriated Theresa.
"I'm sorry, as soon as I heard that my mother came over, I rushed here. She's always been hostile toward anything related to me. And that's the reason why I left Cristina before. I didn't want to cause Cristina any trouble," Eugene explained.
"If you were really so worried about her, you should have stayed away from her. You are the one who said you would marry her. You're also the one who hurt her so badly. She doesn't want to see you now. Jus go," Theresa accused.
Knowing that he had made big mistakes, he still wanted to see Cristina. He pleaded with a hoarse voice, "Theresa, can you let in? Just a couple of minutes, please?"
Thinking of Cristina's sadness, Theresa asked, "What are you going to say to her? Are you here to say goodbye to her? Do you have any plan to protect her from your mother's pester?" Eugene fell silent.
"You can see her, of course," she continued. "But Eugene, I'm really disappointed in you. She has given you too many chances, but what you have done is all wrong. As a man, you should show some responsibility. If you want to live with her, try to think about your future with her. If you can't bring her happiness, then don't come and bother her again. She needs a peaceful life." She really hoped that Cristina wouldn't suffer anymore. Eugene clenched his fingers tightly, lowering his head.
Seeing this, Charlie, who was standing on the side, spoke up, "Theresa, I forgot something in your room." Theresa shot him a disapproving glance, asking, "What did you drop over there?"
