Marry Ex's Uncle After Divorcement

Chapter 739

Chapter 739 Wish You Happiness

Charlie felt frustrated. 'Before, no matter what happened, Ben was still clingy to me. But now everything has changed. He even rejected my hug outright."

After finishing trimming Ben's nails, Theresa said to the kids, "You two can go play now."

"Thanks, mommy. But I'd like to do my homework first," Ben said in a sweet voice.

Theresa nodded, stroking his hair. 'Oh, my dear boy. He really loves studying, always doing his homework by himself. I just don't have to worry about his performance." Leonard also followed Ben out, leaving Theresa and Charlie alone in the living room while Brenda and Cristina were upstairs.

Theresa turned to Charlie, asking. "Did you bring my car back?"

"It's parked outside the gate," Charlie replied, taking out the car keys.

As she reached out her hand, she said, "Thank you."

When she took the car keys from his hand, he felt the warmth of her fingertips and immediately grabbed her hand, which made her uncomfortable.

Seeing the aloofness in her eyes, he apologized immediately, "Sorry."

She raised her eyebrows, commanding, "Let go of my hand."

He did as she told him, his eyes still fixed on her. "Ben doesn't even want to talk with me," he murmured under his breath.

She responded, "Although he is a child, he knows a lot of things. You know what I mean?"

He asked, "Are you really planning to be with Dick?"

She didn't answer, just staring at him. After a moment of thought, she said, pursing her lips, "I suppose so." In fact, she didn't consider Dick as her new boyfriend. She just took him as one of her common patients. Moreover, Dick had contributed greatly to helping her father's company get through a crisis, so she was going to repay him by giving him the best treatment.

She didn't think it necessary to tell Charlie all this. After all, they were already divorced, and she didn't owe him any explanation even if she would have a date with another man. Besides, she no longer believed that they would get back together, or that he still had feelings for her. If she fell in love with Dick, Charlie wouldn't be happy about it, since Dick was his enemy. But she didn't want to take care of Charlie's emotions anymore.

Charlie muttered composedly with a nod, "That's good. I hope that he won't hurt your feelings as I did. Wish you happiness."

Theresa was a bit surprised to hear what he just said. Observing his expression, she noticed that his attitude was completely different from that this morning when he had pleaded with her to come back. Dazed for seconds, she now wondered if he really let her go. 'Does he give up?" she thought. After staring at him for some moments, she asked, "What's going on with you?"

Charlie beamed at her. "Nothing. I just remembered how I used to suspect you. You know, eager to figure out whether you have an improper relationship with Dick. I'm sorry about that."

"Well, to be honest, I am quite surprised to hear your apology. I never expected you to admit your mistake," she confessed.

He wasn't sure if she was teasing him or not.

She stood up, stretching her arms. "I'm going back to my room."

"Are you feeling unwell?" he asked, noticing her fatigue.

"No, I am just tired. I have bustled around all day," she responded, heading upstairs. Now that Dick left, she could finally relax and rest for a while.
