Make Me

Chapter Chapter TWENTY-EIGHT

THE GAME - PART 2:

As I stepped out of the elevator, I quickly found myself in an entirely different setting than I thought I would. A light breeze swept through my clothes, and glancing down at myself I realized I wasn't wearing my suit anymore... Some strange white cloak wrapped around my body, and as I moved around a little to take a better look at the changes, I noticed something... Odd.

"Watch out with your wings, please!" a calm voice asked me, and I froze, glancing in the stranger's direction, then behind my back. The soft feathered caressed my back as I awkwardly moved the limb I didn't even know I had. After I stared at my wings for a good few seconds, I looked back at the stranger, who turned out to be someone... I've seen before.

"Stand aside. Here they come... "I could only gape at Leon, as he gently pushed me back, presumably to let someone through between us. His hair was longer, and his face betrayed a younger version of himself, but his expression was gloomier than I had ever seen it.

Two other angels dragged someone through the cliff we were standing on, bringing him to the very edge of the rock, and forcing him to kneel, facing away from us. A white sack covered his head but despite the two-man holding him by his arms, he still struggled.

"Hold him tight!" Leon ordered sternly, then glanced back at me "Let's not waste time... You know what to do" I blinked a few times in utter confusion but followed his gaze down to my hand. I was holding a knife, quite a big one, richly decorated, with a curved blade.

"Where are we?" I questioned a little unsurely, glancing at the held down angel. He was half-naked, his wings revealed perfectly before us. It was beautiful, though I didn't have much time to stare at him, I could make out his tones body, and a few scars he probably got by resisting the two others.

"At the Malum, of course... We don't have much time, cut his wings off before he escapes" Leon ordered, narrowing his eyes a little angrily. I swallowed, tightening my grasp around the knife... Is this my task?

"What's the Malum?" I ignored his request, to get more out of him. He raised an eyebrow in surprise, but his frown stayed.

"The cliff of the fallen... Cut. His. Wings. Now." he spat now more aggressively, and I growled out in annoyance, stepping closer to the man, and I kneeled down behind him. It was just an illusion after all, but still, it felt so real... The wind, the depth underneath us, the gloomy dark clouds, and the man before me, struggling for his freedom. The light breeze carried his scent to me, familiar, yet strange as if I had already felt a version of it... a more detailed and stronger version. "Who is this?" I asked quietly, not being able to resist the urge to touch his wings. It was soft and gently shook under my fingers, as I traced the feathers with my hand.

"A sinner." Leon retorted, his voice flat and indifferent.

"It's just a damn birthmark!" I shivered when the man before me suddenly yelled out. Probably attempting to look back at Leon, he began thrashing around, almost pushing one of the angels off the cliff.

I stared at his covered face in shock... I knew this voice.

"Brother, why wo-"

"I'm not your brother, Judas." Leon cut him off sharply, which sent Jude into action again, moving around and trying to fight off the two men at his side with little to no success.

"That's not my name..." his voice was now weaker, hurt and angry, but I still couldn't see his face. I didn't need to.

"From now on, yes, it is... That's how the world will know you." Leon said nonchalantly, his sharp words hitting hard for even me.

"You are not the world"

"Nor your family" the angel cut him off cruelly, then turned his gaze to me.

"Get to work, cut his wings" Leon now addressed me, and I just stared at him back in utter shock, which slowly turned into rage. How dare he do this? How dare he abandon Jude like that? For a fucking stupid prophecy, no one even knows is true. "Fuck off"

"Excuse me?" all the angels turned in my direction, surprise written all over their faces.

"I said fuck off. I won't cut his wings." I threw the knife away, which landed with a loud sound echoing around us. I stood up, shielding Jude from Leon, whose burning gaze now settled on me.

"Think it through well... is he worth going to hell?" Leon cocked an eyebrow, his face remaining serious and unbothered.

"Yes, he is" I glared back at him without a second thought. We kept our eye contact for a while before Leon nodded shortly.

"Very well... Then throw both of those after Lucifer. He'll be delighted to have company" as these words left his mouth, I felt a pair of hands grab me from behind, and they forced me to my knees despite all my efforts to resist their strength. They pushed me down to face the impossibly deep abyss beneath us, while someone ripped the white sack off Jude's face.

His blonde locks shocked me, to say the least, though his hair was lighter than the other angel's and it wasn't curly, it was straight as it was in real life. His face was... very expressive. As if he was a completely different person, I could read so many emotions off his features. Pain, anger, betrayal and fear mixed in those beautiful blue eyes, as he stared down at the gap underneath us. Thinking just how cold he was now, how deep these emotions were hidden in his eyes, it broke my heart. I wanted to comfort him, to tell him it'll be okay... But even I didn't know what was to come.

"Cut their wings, and throw them off" Leon repeated, and I heard someone move behind me. The ground trembled underneath us, and everyone glanced around a little confused but didn't stop with their tasks. Before I could've said anything, I felt an unbearable pain come down on my wings, as the knife cut into my back, trying to get the limb off. I screamed out in pain, and everything blurred, the world around me fading into nothing, while the only thing I could hear was my own miserable cries.

"Why isn't he waking up?"

"Just because you ask me every five seconds, he won't wake up faster"

"Chaos guy, move!"

I heard voices, distantly as if they were talking in an entirely different room from me, yet they were too clear to be that far. Events of the past hours slowly poured back into me, and my eyes shot open as I remembered the pain. I sat up in a second, and reached to my back, eyes wide open, as I panted. There was... nothing on my back. I don't have wings... I never did.

I had to remind myself several times, that there wasn't supposed to be anything on my back... It wasn't cut off, I just... Didn't have wings. Still, the memory of the burning, unbearable pain ran through my, sending and an unpleasant but strong shiver down my spine.

"Hi, Seth" I turned my disturbed gaze towards the noise, finding Octavius's outrageously ginger locks and his cautious, worried face. Behind him, Pride and Blake stood, alongside with a few other sins I couldn't name exactly. "What happened?" I questioned, taking my eyes off him, and leading it through the room. I was in what appeared to be our bedroom with Jude, more precisely I was tucked in the bed, surrounded by the infamous siblings. "The illusion went too far..." as my gaze didn't become any more understanding, Pride stepped ahead.

"For an angel, their wings are their most sensitive parts... cutting them off is an experience no mortal can bear... Your mind just shut down in defence." the woman explained, her voice indifferent, but she scanned me with a sort of worry that I don't think she held personally for me.

"This wasn't supposed to happen... The illusions are not meant to be used for such experiences; they feel too real." Octavius added a little apologetically. I scanned the room again... Jude wasn't here. I knew I should have a lot more other questions, but now that I was aware of his absence, I couldn't focus on anything else.

"Where is he?" I questioned with a little rasp in my voice, just assuming all of them knew whom I was talking of. The siblings shared a look, their gazes avoiding mine for a few seconds that left an unsettling feeling in the pit of my stomach. "Where is Jude?" I repeated through clenched teeth.

"After the illusion broke down... you were out for a good while before you began breathing again..." Blake broke the silence, clearing his throat a little in the process, while I began having a terrible sensation in my throat.

"Jude... thought you were dead and lost it completely. He nearly killed Lucifer, and several other demons while they were trying to hold him down. When you began breathing again, he cooled off, but Lucifer ended up locking him down anyway since both of them were heavily injured, and he was worried Jude wouldn't be able to contain his flames... He is down in the chambers, underneath the castle" I stared at them blankly, thought my mind raced so fast I could barely comprehend it. This was really the last straw from Lucifer, but I still have time to rip his face off... I need to see Jude.

I threw my covers off without a word and got out of bed, but as soon as my feet touched the ground I fell to my knees with a painful grunt.

"Easy there" Octavius helped me up, but I hit his hand away. I didn't want their help, I just wanted to see Jude. Why weren't they down there, if he was injured? What's wrong with everyone in hell?

Okay... ironic question.

"Give me my walking-stick" I ordered sternly, and though I could tell none of them was very pleased with my tone, I also understood that they all angered Jude enough for them to be really trying to get back on his good side. Pride ended up handing me the stick, keeping away from the silver handle. I grabbed it and pushed myself to my feet. I guess this shit made me even weaker than before. I feel like an old man for fuck's sake. "Shouldn't we escort you...?"

"Mindy will show me around, thanks" I cut them off quickly, wanting to go alone. I hated how slowly I walked, I wanted to be down there in an instant, to see Jude, tell him it was all okay, and that it wouldn't be that easy to kill me. Worry, guilt and anger overcame my entire being, mixing up inside my chest into a nervous knot that made it hard to breathe.

Mindy, as if she had heard me call her name out just before, was awaiting me before the room. She led me down the palace stairs, the rooms slowly getting darker and colder as we went further down. A heavy silence sat between us, but I didn't bother to break it. I couldn't even acknowledge her existence enough to strike up a conversation.

"It's best if you go in alone. You can go in, but you can't come out of the cell without a key, so make sure to keep that in mind" with that, she left me there, and I pushed the heavy metal door open before me.

The chamber looked as I imagined it to be. The cells were all made of silver, only their outer handle being some sort of dark iron or so. It was cold and unpleasant, the air stuffy, overall creating a vibe, that only prisons and torture chambers can have.

My steps echoed loudly, alongside with the thumping of the stick, as my eyes searched for the demon.

"Jude?" As my voice travelled through the hallway, I heard someone moving. Fastening my pace, I quickly found the right cell, looking for Jude somewhere in there; It didn't take long.

His velvet eyes bore into mine with a heart-breaking astonishment, as if he hadn't thought he'll see me anytime soon. His hair messy, and a few wounds decorating his face, giving his handsome features a troubled look.

"I heard you've thrown a tantrum..." I broke his silence, not knowing how to handle the feeling that he was that worried about me... It felt great, of course, but I just couldn't quite understand why. Was it because I was his match?

His expression broke into a small, soft smile, his eyes glimmering with a strange sense of adoring that I usually only saw when he found me cute or ridiculous. I slowly grabbed the door handle and opened the cell, walking in with a slight limp. I didn't plan on going back up, until' the release him anyway, so what would be the point of staying outside?

"You almost ruined my big moment... I'm supposed to kill Luci, not you." I continued in a playful tone, sitting down next to him, but without a warning, he pulled me into his lap, with a tight hug that threatened to break my ribcage. "I'm sorry... I didn't think Lucifer would go this far. You shouldn't have experienced that pain" he mumbled quietly, resting his chin on my head, and I just didn't have the heart to tell him that I could barely breathe.

"You shouldn't have either... but here we are." he stayed quiet after my response, but I couldn't tell why, I didn't see his face. I curled up against his chest, not really wanting to act cold or resist the urge to be near him, I knew we both needed it after this day. After every day in fact... Our life became a mess, ever since we've met, and the only thing keeping me sane was Jude's awful, but entertaining company.

"I prefer you with black hair" I said suddenly, and he broke out into a surprised chuckle.

"That almost sounded like a compliment" his voice was a little exhausted but playful nonetheless, as he slowly fell into a lying position, and he pulled me with him on the uncomfortable and small bed.

"Have you ever been in prison before?" he questioned a little amused, playing with my hair as he was probably trying to fall asleep. My forehead rested against his chest, listening to his heartbeat. It was steady, calm, nothing that I wouldn't expect from him.

"No, no... I think I would be too popular... I have feminine hips" I grinned, though, he couldn't have seen, but I'm pretty sure he joined me. I didn't want to think about the fact, that Lucifer still had the right to read me after this, or that I'll have to, eventually, leave this warm hug that I got so comfortable with. I just wanted to rest for now and forget everything that happened this afternoon (including the strange monster, which now seemed much less scary, in comparison to having your wings cut off).

"Sleep well, Dear"
