Make Me

Chapter Chapter FIVE

It's been a week since Veronica and I got together. I'm not kidding, I actually have a relationship... like a human one. I got into it a little bit nervous, since there is that tiny little secret between us, that Jude owns my soul, and he is a demon, but usually that just doesn't come up.

I cautiously glanced towards table 2... or shall I say the danger zone? Jude and Veronica were... still glaring at each other, without saying a damn word. What's up with those two really? I mean, first, both insisted to come with me to work, but now this... Both are quite good at small talk, so I didn't understand what this dead silence was.

I grabbed the black coffee and the hot chocolate and gently placed them on the tray, before delivering them to their rightful owners.

"All good here?" I asked raising one of my eyebrows, and I glanced first at Veronica then Jude.

"Jolly. Yeah" Jude replied as if he was ready to kill someone. Ver shot me an apologetic look, even though this really wasn't her fault. Jude had a way of randomly selecting people he disliked, and he would despise them with all his might... which was a lot.

"The coffee" I gave the cup to the demon, then the hot chocolate to the girl, and I stood there for a few more seconds, hoping one of them will say something.

"I thought you are on a diet" Jude glanced up at Veronica, who blushed with embarrassment and shook her head.

"I'm... I'm not. Should I be?" she asked a little concerned, touching her sides self-consciously. The demon shrugged, and looked back up at the girl, eyeing her up and down.

"Not my decision... don't know I thought you were... I guess I just assumed"

"Don't be a dick" I scolded him, before gently giving a pat to her shoulder as like a "hold on" and I left to complete the rest of the orders. Something was up with that demon, and I just couldn't quite guess what it was. Suzanne and I had a pretty tight shift, there were a lot of people here today, and so I tried to put my mind to work.

"Okay, answer me this... Which of them are you dating..." Suzanne leaned in to whisper to me, while I was preparing the small cakes we sold.

"Obviously, the girl." the next person to assume I am gay, I'll just shoot in the head... How much straighter can I get? I have a beautiful girlfriend and... and we are a couple. We kiss and stuff.

I'm not even convincing myself anymore...

"Calm down, Romeo, I didn't mean to offend you... You guys just seemed to be close, so I wasn't sure.

"I'm. Not. Interested. In. Guys" I hoped this is the last time I have to clarify this, but she just kept on giggling.

"So, the guy's up for grabs?" she grinned, and I just chuckled a little. Jude was way too fixated on me to even look another human being, let alone to get together with them. He was disinterested in most "mortals" as he would say.

"Yeah, but he is an ass, so good luck" with that I turned to her and handed both the small plates I prepared with the carrot-cake on them and gave her an encouraging smile. Maybe I was evil, but I found it funny whenever people tried to hit on Jude, and he would just act like he is oblivious to it. Maybe it was flattering my ego a little bit, that I was the only one who could make him interested.

I went along with my work, and after my shift was finally over, and headed straight to the dressing room, to get my normal shirt on and leave. I had enough of customers for today, and I'll have to study a lot tomorrow, not to mention that I must give in various projects which I have neglected until last minute.

The shop was empty as I stepped out of the dressing room, except for Suzanna, Jude and Veronica... Something was off though, and I soon realized what.

Suzanna was casually holding onto Jude's arm. JUDE'S. ARM. JUDE'S.

I stared at them in the most noticeable way possible. I assumed that Jude is playing sick game with my co-worker, and I wasn't having any of it, but when his gaze turned to me, there was no evil spark or menacing grin... What the hell. "You won't believe what happened, Seth!" Veronica cheered, grabbing me and pulling me in closer to the group.

"Turns out Jude came down only to see Suzanna, and Suzy also had a crush on him. We thought we could do a double date since none of us has other plans I assume?" I flashed a nervous smile, but somehow my heart sank to my stomach... Was it anger? I felt... bad. It was unpleasant, but if I would've glared at Jude, everyone would've seen it. I don't know what kind of game is trying to play, but I hated it already.

"Sounds fun" I squeaked out, and everyone cheered. We left the shop in pairs, and though I didn't know much about the plan, the others seemed to have already discussed it. If Veronica wasn't dragging me almost literally, I would've probably just turned around and gone home.

"Seth, are you okay?" Suzy's voice pulled me out of my miserable thoughts and forced me to lie again, with a wide smile and a nod.

"I'm just a little tired, that's all."

Our journey led to the nearest bar, which did not surprise me much, alcohol seemed like a great idea right now and I just hoped I'll pass out and they'll have to take me home or something.

There was electronic music busting all over the place since the counter was so close to the dance floor, but we sat down anyway and ordered.

"My treat" Jude offered generously, although I think he can just miracle money anyway, so it wasn't such a big deal.

"That's a beer for me then" Veronica concluded.

"Cyder here" Suzy came in, and Jude glanced at me. I only noticed now, how uninterested he was in me tonight. His eyes usually find me every now and then, checking for something, searching my face, as if he was trying to find out what I'm thinking about, but now it was... cold. I felt like the other people he looked at. As if I bored him... The feeling somehow sent me to the most desperate parts of my mind, the worst sensation of abandonment, and from a demon... What did I do? Maybe he wants to switch who he makes a deal with? Maybe he is interested in Suzy's soul? Or is it just that... personally, he doesn't care anymore, besides doing his part of the agreement?

"Seth" he called out to me snapping me back to reality, and I nodded, though I don't know if there was anything to nod to. The others gave me a little bit of a concerned look, and I swallowed. "Double whiskey, with ice"

"Isn't that too strong for you?" Veronica gently brushed my shoulders, but I didn't look at her I just cut her off sternly.

"No."

They seemed taken aback by my attitude, so I tried to add a gentler smile. Jude ordered for us, and the drinks were soon in front of our crew.

"Cheers" we echoed, and they started chatting. Mainly Veronica and Suzanne though, about something I didn't care enough to pay attention to.

I gulped my drink down, enjoying the small burn in the back of my throat.

"Did you enjoy your stay at my work?" I turned to Jude, not even understanding why I am trying to start a small talk with him, but there was no turning back.

He shrugged, not bothering to look at me, and sipped his drink.

"It turned out interesting after all" he glanced to Suzanne, and my jaw clenched in frustration. He was pressing all my buttons, probably without even knowing.

"I want one more" I informed him since the girls were so wrapped up in their talking, I could talk to him the way I wanted, hoping he'd get a little pissed and pull one of his stupid tricks, but all I got was a nod, and his voice ordering a double whiskey for me again.

As the whiskeys started kicking in, my whole mind and face went numb, though I didn't feel even a little bit better, the only change was that now I was sick.

"I'll be right back, dear." I told Veronica and stood from my place, starting to stumble and struggle in the direction of where I assumed the bathrooms are. Pressing myself through the crowd, and I could already see the signs, so I didn't give up on my journey if I got this far. Stupid Jude... Stupid demon... I hate him. Why does he have to do this? Intervening with my friends, my human life... they didn't do anything to deserve his manipulations.

I stepped into the surprisingly empty bathroom and collapsed on the sink. Starting to wash my face, I attempted to get myself together, before going back. I didn't know why I was so bothered, but probably because I was tired... I mean he is a demon, I'm sure he needs to get his...urges dealt with as well. Especially because to me it seems like Jude can be horny literally any time of any day, just by random things... though I've never seen him make a move on anyone else... Raising my head, I noticed a group of three guys entering the toilet. Two of them wore an almost identical leather jacket, the third had a shirt on, unbuttoned almost all the way down to the middle of his chest. They reeked from alcohol and cigarettes, so I turned my gaze away frowning a little bit.

"Something's wrong?" one of them asked when he caught my repulsed expression in the mirror. How do I do this? I mean, there is no way, I'm always the one people feel like getting in a fight with... But maybe it's not that unlucky this time. If Jude wants to ignore me then be it... If he doesn't care anymore, neither should I... I know he is annoyed when I get in fights, because of his possessive nature, but since it doesn't concern him anymore, I guess it won't matter... Okay, maybe I just itched to provoke him further.

"I just almost puked from your odour, that's all" I smiled at him, turning in their direction, and I could almost hear as his mind exploded with anger. His whole face got red, and his two buddies slowly got closer to him to form a circle around

me.

"Because you smell so good?" he taunted with a grin, eyeing me up and down as if he was trying to figure out why am I picking a fight with 3 of them.

"Well, rumour has it, yes." I shrugged; a smug look plastered all over my face. I guess, I just like mocking people, and I'm probably also too drunk to control my mouth.

"You hear that, guys? Why don't we give it a try?" the main jerk hissed like an angry cat, but I could only watch them with amusement in my eyes.

I back away from my sink, so I would have room to step forward and backwards when the fight begins. These guys were really into foreplay, or just didn't actually have a bite to this enormous bark.

"Hold him down" the main guy ordered, and as the other two started to make their way to me, I prepared. As one of them reached for my arm, I stepped aside and twisted his in an unnatural direction. A painful groan is all I got, and a punch from the other one. I felt my nose getting a little bloody, but adrenaline was good enough for me to go on. I kicked the other one away from me, but before I could've further gone on with my plan, the tallest guy stepped into my very personal space and grabbed my shirt pushing me against the wall. I guess this is the "jerk-fight-move-101", since Adam did the same. He was surprisingly stronger than me, so no matter how I struggled against his hands, I couldn't get him off

me.

"So, let's see..." he smirked letting the two order guys hold my hands to the wall, and so he could grab my hair, forcing my head back, and exposing my neck to him. "What's wrong with you?" I spoke through my teeth, but he didn't react to me. I could feel his breath on my neck, as he noticeably sniffed me.

"He actually does smell good; would you believe it guys?" He chuckled and the other two joined him.

"His face is so red..." the other commented and I tried to move my head to bite his hand, but the tall one was holding onto my locks way too strongly... I could just call Jude... but I don't want to. He doesn't care at all. I won't order him to help me, if he isn't interested anymore, I don't need him anyway. I'll figure something out.

"Look, he has a tattoo... Looks weird" one of them pointed at it, and as I felt his grasp getting weaker on my hand, I kicked in his direction, and tore my arm away, punching the tall guy right in front of me. There was only one remaining his hold on me, so I grabbed onto his arm with mine as well, and turned my body in a full circle, probably breaking his hand.

"You little prick" The tall guy grabbed my throat and pressed be back against the wall. I heard a moan, and for a second, I didn't know where it came from only when I realized... that was my voice. I moaned... His thumb pressed against Jude's mark, and my skin was burning like hell, but not painfully, more like... pleasantly. I tried to move a little in his hand, so his fingers wouldn't be touching the mark, but I was already late. "Did you just moan?" he asked with a surprised smirk.

"He does that sometimes... But better let go of him before I get there" I knew that voice...

And just like that, suddenly I ceased to be worried about my safety... The only thing that actually concerned me now....was theirs.
