Madilynne's P.O.V.

Kade laid with me and held me through the night, I really didn’t want to be alone. I spent so many years battling this pain that was waging its war inside of me, and finally, it was released.

Morning came and I was awoken to the soft morning rays of the sunrise, with streams of oranges and yellows peeking through my room curtains. My head was on top of Kade’s chest while he slept underneath me, peacefully. The colors danced across his face in the most mesmerizing way. At this moment, I felt almost at peace. His nearness and shallow breathing calmed me, like my very own lullaby. I hadn’t realized I was staring until Kade slightly stirred and a grin traveled across his face. ” Mornin, Madi.” I smiled back at him and dropped my head on his chest to hide what I’m sure was my blushing cheeks from being caught staring. Kade gently lifted my head with a finger under my chin, “Don’t hide that smile from me Madi, I’ve always loved it. So beautiful.” He said, holding my gaze. I wanted to kiss him, instead, I cleared my throat, “We should probably get moving, everyone should be waking soon.” I moved to get off the bed and instead I was pulled right back to Kade’s bare chest, wrapped in his muscled arms, and pressed with a kiss to my lips. Sparks spread from the tip of my lips to my toes that made them curl slightly, I instantly caved and kissed just as strongly back. Kade broke the kiss, and I whimpered a bit, he laughed lightly. “Now, we can get moving, my sweet mate.”

Kade rolled out of bed first and that’s when I noticed he wasn’t wearing a shirt. When did he take his shirt off? Kade seemed to know the question running through my head when he said, “You were crying in your sleep last night, skin to skin with mates is calming, so I took it off.” He pulled his shirt over his head, every muscle fully visible as they flexed with the motion of putting the piece of clothing on. I groaned internally. “If you keep looking at me like that, we won’t be leaving anytime soon Madi.” He said with a slightly deeper voice and a smile across his face.

I got out of bed and started walking to the bathroom that was attached to my room, ” Sorry babe, was just admiring the view.” I said while shooting a wink over my shoulder. Kade replied with a playful growl, “Madi-”

Before Kade could finish his warning, there was a knock at my door. “Meet me in the kitchen when you’re ready Madi.” Dad’s voice came from the other side of the door, after a short pause he spoke again. “And I would like to see you there too, Kade.”

Kade spoke up finally “Yes Alpha, we’ll be there soon.” Dad’s footsteps faded away from my door and Kade let out a breath, I giggled at him. “Thank you, for last night Kade, I appreciate it.” I said with a light smile on my face. “Anytime, Madi. I’m always here for you. You don’t have to go through this alone ever again.” Kade said, he cut the distance between us and hugged me. I melted into his embrace with a sigh. His touch was so calming, I wanted to stay in his arms for the rest of my life. Kade placed a kiss on the top of my head “I should probably go to my room and get showered, I’ll see you down there in a few.” I nodded my head, and slipped out of his arms, feeling a little cold at the sudden loss of warmth. “Yeah, see ya soon Kade.”

Kade left my room, and I went to my bathroom and started the shower. I turned to grab the shampoo behind me and I lost my footing, I fell. I tried to catch myself and hit my head on the edge of the tub, I could feel warmth trickling down my face. My hand instinctively went to my head and I winced as the touch stung, great. I shut the shower off and grabbed my towel to quickly dry off. I wiped the mirror free of the light condensation to further inspect my self-inflicted wound. I reached with a finger to see how bad the cut was and as soon as my finger made contact with the wound, my eyes started to glow gold, I jerked my hand away and the spot I briefly touched was starting to heal. “WHAT. THE. HELL. WAS. THAT.” I closed my eyes and shook my head, thinking I was imagining this. I opened my eyes and slowly raised my finger again to the cut and, again, my eyes were glowing the brightest gold id ever seen. I ran my finger over the rest of the cut, watching closely as my skin grew towards itself. Left in its wake was a golden streak on my head.

‘Cool isn’t it?’ Willow, my wolf whispered. ‘H-how?’ I said back, still not believing what I have just seen. ‘It’s one of our gifts.’ Willow replied. “ONE? As in there’s more than one?” I gasped out loud to my wolf. ‘Yes human, in time you’ll come into the others.’ I groaned and rolled my eyes at my ominous wolf. I needed to get dressed and meet with dad, so I didn’t press Willow any further. id save it for another time.

I made my way to the kitchen finally and greeted everyone as I headed for the coffee. “Woah, what’s that?” Kade asked as he stood from his spot and walked towards me. “Oh, this? Oh you know, just had a little fall in the shower and healed myself, no biggie.” I said while shrugging my shoulders. ” YOU FELL?!“, ” Why is it gold?“, “Are you okay Madi?” The questions came in promptly, I groaned at all the questions bombarding my ears, I sipped my coffee and let out a breath of contentedness before answering.

“Yes I fell, Kade. Aiden, this,” I Began while gesturing towards my gold highlighted wound “This is my wolfie powers coming out to play, I went to see how bad the cut was, touched it, eyes glowed gold and it healed. And yes dad, I’m fine.” I said while addressing everyone at once. “Huh, interesting.” Alpha Grant said while the other two looked at me like I was an alien and dad looked relieved I was okay. Kade came closer and gently ran his finger over the golden mark, I could feel it tingle from his touch. “It looks like it was a deep one, this would’ve taken a normal wolf a few hours to heal, not minutes. this is amazing, you’re amazing Madi.” Kade spoke softly to me. I smiled from my cup of coffee at him.

Dad cleared his throat to direct everyone’s attention to him “Today, Madi, you’ll be training with someone new since Aiden is busy with the Miles problem. Anyways, I’ve called in a favor to another pack and they are sending their best warrior and beta of the pack to train you. She should be arriving soon.” Dad said while glancing at the clock. when dad finished his sentence a knock came from the front door.
