Chapter Missing pieces
Kade's P.O.V
My wolf Jaxx, was growing more agitated the longer we were away from Madi, as was I. Tearing through every rogue that came across my path, I fought alongside Alpha Finn, Madi’s father. At first, it was just scouts, Then it turned into a full-on attack. At least Fifty rogues had made it on to pack lands. We fought off as many as possible, soon the rogue numbers were finally dwindling down. I could see at least Thirty now.
Somewhere on the field, I could hear a vicious snarl shortly after followed by a painful howl. ‘MATE MATE IS HURT’ Jaxx bellowed in my head. Shit! She must have come looking for us! I bolted to where I thought I heard her, as soon as she was in my sights I caught a glimpse of a rogue barreling right towards her. She was lying down bracing for the attack. NOT TODAY ASSHOLE, I pushed as fast as I could. Colliding with the threat towards my mate and ending his life as quickly as I caught him in my jaws.
Running towards Madi, I was seconds away from shifting and telling her how careless but brave her actions were. ‘Katie! You have to find Katie!’ Why would I..OH SHIT. KATIE. I took off in a sprint towards the packhouse, we were supposed to meet her at the back of the house!
I could smell blood when I made it to the steps of the packhouse, but I couldn’t scent Katie. Passing one of the guards I stilled as he choked out something “They..cough.. in back..” Nodding my head I ran around the backside of the packhouse, I could hear whimpers in the distance. “QUIET OR I END YOU NOW” Slap. Growling I barreled in the direction of the unknown voice.
Before I could attack I was swept off my paws and slammed to the ground, A fist came down to my chest and I felt the grueling pain of my chest bone breaking. Howling out in pain, I blacked out.
Warm caramel. Her scent hit me like a truck. ‘Mate’ I don’t know if she could hear me but I knew she was near. Run Madi. Goddess please, run.
Her scent got stronger, I could hear her cries. I wanted to comfort my mate, but all I could get out was a grunt. I willed my body to move, even just the slightest amount.
I could feel her hand touch my chest, calming. A deeper warmth soon took root, slowly I could feel my bones shifting, healing. I gasped for air, finally.
POP. An excruciating pain of no other shot through my body but I couldn’t scream out from it, the pain holding me hostage from consciousness.
Warm tingles brushed alongside my face, ever so light.
“Mate” Her angelic voice whispered. I was content to have her by my side, I stopped fighting and succumbed to the growing darkness even further.
Beep. Beep. Beep.
I groaned at the insistent beeping noise, goddess what is that? I cracked my eyes open slowly, Alpha Finn coming into view. “Madi..” I tried to ask but my throat was so dry I could barely get her name out. “Gone. They’re both gone kade.” He ran his hands over his face roughly. No, she can’t be gone. ‘FIND MATE NOW’ Jaxx roared in my mind, His anger morphing into my own. I bolted up from my laying position but was met with a hand on my chest. I growled at the person keeping me from my mate. “MOVE” My voice came out a mixture of human and animal.
“We’ve already tried tracking them, they masked their scents. No trail. Nothing, just gone.” I fell to my knees when Alpha Finn spoke. She can’t be gone. Not Madi. We haven’t had enough time.
I tore out of the pack clinic and shifted into my black wolf. Running through the Forrest, from my pain. Both Jaxx and I feeding off of each other’s rage and pain. I stopped and let out a Grievous howl, one full of misery and suffering. Shifting back I shouted to the moon above ” WHY! Not her.. Not my sweet Madi..” Tears clouded my vision.
I vowed to find her, at any cost.
Days turned into weeks and still we couldn’t find a scent trail. I kept reflecting on the voice I heard before I blacked out but I didn’t recognize it.
I paced back and forth in her room, praying to the moon goddess for a sign. Anything. I just wanted my mate back. I needed her.
I sat down on the edge of her bed inhaling deeply, greedily gathering the remains of her sweet caramel scent. Her scent instantly calming me, and now thinking more clearly I started to backtrack my thoughts. This all started when Katie arrived. So, why take Madi too? This had to be the same rogues that were after Katie in the first place, the same rogues from the very beginning. But why take Madi? My thoughts continued to circle the drain around that one question.
Wait.
Unless.
He found her.
I took off in a sprint down the stairs, nearly taking out pack members on my rush down. “SORRY!” Aiden, need to find Aiden.
I burst through the kitchen and ran out the back door, I knew he’d be training. He hasn’t stopped since they were taken. Making my way towards him I shouted ” Miles, tell me everything you have on him”
The only information Aiden had dug up was Miles had been banished from his birth pack, But, he was an Alpha heir. Miles had completely fallen off the grid, no one knew where he was. I knew then I’d have to talk with the Alpha of cedarwood pack, His father.
I found myself back in the packhouse headed for Alpha Finn’s office, day in and day out he was locked in the office trying to find leads on his daughter. “Alpha, I may have a lead.”
His head perked instantly at my announcement, eyeing me he waited for me to continue. “I’ve been thinking” I started. “Have we contacted the Alpha of cedarwood pack?” The second I mentioned that pack Alpha Finn let out a deadly Snarl.
