Chapter Abilities
Madilynne's P.O.V
The ‘vision’ as Mya said, really took its toll on me. My head was reeling with throbbing pain, and it sucked all my energy from my body. “I think you should lay down Madi. You don’t look good.” Kade spoke with concern. I groaned, I didn’t want to move from my spot on the countertop. Kade slipped his arms around me and cradled me in his arms, I leaned further into his chest as he carried me towards my room.
We reached my room and Kade gently placed me on my bed. He bent down and placed a soft lingering kiss on the top of my head. He moved to leave but I grabbed his arm, “Stay with me?” Kade smiled at me warmly, “Always, Madi.” He climbed into the bed with me and pulled the covers over us, and wrapped me in his arms. I could feel him push his face into my neck and take a breath in as he did. I closed my eyes and smiled at him, quickly falling asleep in his arms.
When I woke up, the bed was empty beside me. I let out a sigh and rolled over to get out of bed, I needed coffee stat. Before my feet hit the ground, Kade was walking into my room. He was holding two cups of coffee and a bright smile on his face. My heart warmed at the thoughtfulness of this man, “Sorry, I figured you might sleep longer than me so i decided to get a run in and grab us some coffee for when you woke up.” Kade said with a soft smile. As he neared the bed he handed me the hot and steamy drink, I quickly brought it to my lips and let out a moan.
“ugh, coffee, I’ll always love you.” Kade let out a chuckle, “That good huh?” I nodded my head as I took another sip and I thought to myself, ’almost as delicious as you kade.′
I felt Kade straighten next to me and he slowly turned to me with a playful smile, “Oh, i’m delicious huh?” I froze, I could feel my cheeks blushing. Did I say that out loud? Kade let out a deep belly laugh at what I’m sure was embarrassment written across my features, which, in turn, made me turn even redder if that was possible. “No, but you thought it loud enough.” Kade said with a smirk plastered on his face.
“H-how can you hear what I’m thinking?” I asked as I turned to him with shock, I’m sure written all over my face still. “Usually only fully mated mates can hear each other’s thoughts and communicate through mind link, kind of like a pack link, just a little more in-depth.” Kade said as he looked off and massaged his chin in a thinking matter. “But.. We haven’t mated yet.” I said in confusion.
‘I think it’s because you’re a special wolf madi.’ Kade’s voice sounded in my head. I can’t believe we can hear each other’s thoughts and communicate without even sounding a word. ‘It’s so strange.’ I replied back quietly, testing the voice inside my head. “So how are you feeling?” I sighed at his question, I was still a little tired but I wanted to know who the girl was and why did I have the vision of her? Instantly images of my vision popped into my head and the feeling of being truly terrified of the man with the scar shot through me again. I felt kade freeze up next to me as he gasped “How did you do that?" He asked while turning towards me, “Do what?”
“I just saw what you saw and felt what you felt.. you shared your memories with me.” I groaned, god this must be another one of those abilities rearing its ugly head again without my knowledge. Would I ever be prepared? And damn it why hasn’t my wolf said anything while this is happening? I was internally freaking out a little bit now, “I don’t know kade it just popped into my head, I think I’m going to go for a run i need to clear my head.” I set my now cold coffee on the table next to my bed and got up to get changed.
Now standing outside, I looked into the Forrest behind my house. Kade had opted to stay in so I could have this time to talk to my wolf, without a certain green-eyed distraction. I stripped my clothes off, ‘Oh Willow, we need to talk wolfie girl.’ There was only silence before I heard a light growl sound in my head ‘Fine.’ Why was she always so damn sassy? I closed my eyes and willed my wolf forward and pictured my white wolf on all fours. I opened my eyes and saw everything through crystal clear vision, I threw my head back and released a playful howl, and took of splashing through the river once again.
‘I know you have questions about all the powers, but I know just as much as you do Madi. I think the powers are to help prepare us for the coming war.’ Willow said as we ran carefree through the woods. I sighed, I couldn’t be mad at her, we were both in this together, more questions than answers. I slowed my pace as we came to a break in the woods, I recognized this place. It was from my vision.
My stance instantly went rigid and on alert the second I recognized my surroundings. I could sense someone else nearby, we weren’t alone. ‘Kade I’m worried, I’m not alone out here.’ I said in my head, praying to the gods he could hear me. ‘Where are you, I’m coming.’ Kades voice sounded through my head, I let out a sigh of relief. Instinctively I let my head fall back and released a howl so Kade could find me quickly. I was now on alert, ready to protect myself the best I could.
I heard footsteps headed in my direction, it was all playing out like my vision. I really dreaded the next moments, I know exactly what would come soon.
