Chapter 3
Chapter 3
Brielle
*
I wasn’t interested in this
engagement or marriage, but watching the facial expressions of my sweet mom and lovely sister and knowing how I
turned the table at the last
moment was what I was aiming for tonight.
Mom’s expression was worth watching when she saw me in Jade’s room, almost ready like a bride, wearing the gown and jewelry that were sent for me from the royal family.
I wasn’t a fan of the jewelry,
1/18
but I could bet that those cost
millions for sure. No wonder
Jade wanted to get married into a royal family.
“Bri, what are you doing here?”
She asked in shock.
“Dad’s people caught me, and the rest is history,” I lied confidently, knowing she would never dare confront Dad. “I had no choice but to return. I just hope Dad won’t
ask me who was involved in all this,” I added, acting tensed and enjoying her tense face.
“Don’t worry, Mom. I will never take your name,” I assured her, resting my hand on her shoulder.

“I know, my love.” She said, looking around before walking towards the wardrobe, sensing Jade’s scent. “Don’t tell me; you locked your sister inside.”
“I had no other choice, Mom. To protect Jade from Dad’s wrath, I had to come up with the lie that I made her unconscious before eloping; after all, everyone knew that I was with her and she was going to help me get ready,” I explained innocently, giving her a logical answer.
She took Jade out of the
wardrobe and tried to wake her up softly.
“I have another way to wake up

quickly,” I said, and I sat beside Jade on her bed. I recalled
Jameson and her pictures. Raising my hand in the air, I slapped her hand.
Bri! Mom gasped, not believing what I just did.
“Trust me, Mom. I’ve made her unconscious, and this is the only way to wake her up.” With that, I started slapping Jade, using all my force. I didn’t stop even after my hand started to get numb because of the pain.
In the end, I pressed the same nerve to bring her back, something that was going to take an hour or two by normal procedure.
4/18
I saw Jade opening her eyes, and I slapped her one last time in her sense and pulled Mom’s hand, making her fall in front of me. I used her as my shield when Jade raised her hand to hit me.
SLAP!
I bit my l*ps not to laugh when Mom got slapped instead of
- me.
“Mom?”
“Mom,” We both checked on
Emaline. The only difference was that Jade’s expression and feelings were true, while I was faking them. I knew Emaline was fuming in anger and wanted to show her true color

in front of me, watching the way her veins started to
appear, but she didn’t do that.
Only the Moon Goddess knew why.
Instead, she took my side when Jade tried to fight with me for slapping her.
After a while, Mom took me out of the room for the
engagement party, as Jade needed time to get ready for the party. I was wearing a beautiful red strapless bodice that accentuated my figure with a plunging n*eckline and sheer lace cutouts that
highlighted the hourglass
silhouette. In the back, the lace

construction was joined by romantic, vintage–inspired fabric–covered buttons. Past the hip, a gathered, layered
tulle skirt flares into a dramatic and structured finishing touch that floats down the floor when

I could feel everyone’s eyes on me as I walked towards the
venue where my future husband and everyone else were waiting for me.
‘Don’t worry, Bri. I will find a
way with which
you can break
this alliance,‘ Mom’s mind
linked. I tried my best not to roll my eyes at her words as I walked towards my fate. I
looked for Dad, but he wasn’t

around. I had a feeling that he might be looking for me to catch me red–handed if he had
believed his witch wife.
In the end, my eyes landed on the man I was going to marry. He had an aura that could
attract even a human like me. If my heart hadn’t been broken, I would have admired him. But the way every female was drooling while looking at him, I could tell everyone was having their darkest fantasies with him already.
The engagement party was unbearably dull. I had to meet a bunch of people who were going to be part of my new family and pack members.

The fact that my heart and trust had recently been broken. I was doubting everyone’s smile. I so wish I had my wolf, who could have helped with that
After the engagement, I signed the contract, stating that I wasn’t allowed to have a mate.
So, if I found him, I would
I
have to reject him, or they would kill my mate in front of my eyes as punishment for not honoring the contract. The only way to get out of this contract was if Alpha Tristan Deacon would let me go on my

done without the other party’s approval.
“Is the Lycan King not
coming?” Dad asked when both families were having dinner. I was celebrating Jade’s jealousy more than that boring conversation. I caught her staring at Alpha Tristan a couple of times.
“The last time I checked, he was running late.” My fiancee responded. I learned that Lycan King and he were twin brothers, and he was seven minutes younger than him. I didn’t poke my nose at why he was the king when he was
younger.

After dinner, Mom borrowed me from there, giving me the excuse of checking my packed luggage because had to shift into Alpha Tristan’s pack until the wedding to get to know him better.
‘I learned from my resource that your dad has Jameson in the security room and he made him watch your whole engagement. I can’t believe the level of cruelty your father did to your boyfriend. I wonder how did he even get his hand on him?,‘ Mom’s mind linked, acting innocent as if I wasn’t aware that this b*tch told everything to Dad. And
thankfully, till now, he didn’t confront me. Maybe because
11/18
he realized that what she told
him was nothing but a lie.
‘I’m going to free him, and then you can elope. No need to thank me; you’re my daughter, and if I won’t think about your happiness, then who will?‘ She
said.
I wondered why she wasn’t in Hollywood.
‘Go and wait for him at your meeting point. He will join you there,‘ She instructed. I nodded my head, not because she
wanted to but because I had to
end this once and for all.

I waited for Jameson, as I
12/18
reached there early. After a while, I felt like I was being watched. I looked around and started lifting my gown to my thigh, staying in an alert position. I pulled out the dagger that I had kept hidden and was ready to attack if required. I started walking in the direction where I had sensed someone, and just like I thought, a pair of red eyes were watching me. I couldn’t see him because of the dense forest, but I could tell that he wasn’t scared; in fact, he was watching my move. Instead of hiding and running away after getting caught, he was
shamelessly leaning against the
tree.
13/18
We both kept staring at each other, waiting for either of us to make a move. For some reason, I was getting attracted to his intense and beautiful red
eyes.
“I mean no harm,” I said, raising my hand in the air to surrender. This land belonged
to no one, so everyone was allowed to come here. I
decided to leave when I felt that he wasn’t a danger.
Turning my heels, I was about to leave when I was slammed against the nearest tree and my dagger fell from my hand.
“Motherfucker!” I hissed,
glaring at him because he attacked from behind like a
14/18
coward.
“Say that again,” he said in his deep and husky voice, wrapping his big hand around
my
n*eck. I would have said
that again until I felt a wave of
spark running through my whole b*dy.
I might not sense it, but I could feel it. “If you repeat that, I swear to f*ck you until your legs shake and everyone in the vicinity knows my name.” A shiver of pleasure down my spine at his threat.
Before I knew it, he slammed his l*ps against mine without my consent. I hit his chest and tried to push him away, but he
15/18
was way stronger than me.
He pulled himself away after leaving me breathless. “See you later, my feisty mate. I’m running late. I’ve got to be somewhere else for now.”
With that, he disappeared in the dark from where he had come. I blinked my eyes a couple of times to wrap my mind around what just happened.
I found my mate. That too happened after my
engagement, when I wasn’t
allowed to have a mate.
Who was he? Hell, I couldn’t even see him clearly.
16/18
I was positive that he didn’t know that I got engaged to Lycan’s brother. If he would really come to see me later, then they could kill him.
‘I don’t think we will ever meet, Mate.’ I thought bitterly, knowing I was shifting to the Moonlit Guardians, where no one could come just like that.
