LUNA: The Invisible Princess

Chapter 18: Claire's Identity

[Luna]

"Ok, class met Luna. She will join our class starting today. Be good to her, okay?"

"Yes, ma'am!" I smiled at the students.

"You can introduce yourself, Ms. Luna." I nod.

"Hi, I'm Luna Syesha McCleen, 15–I mean 16 years old. Nice to meet you all!" I said. Damn, I almost forgot today is my and Leena’s birthday. This is the first time I haven’t celebrated my birthday with Leena. It totally slips off my mind. Sigh…

‘Happy birthday, Leena…’

They all welcomed me. I sat in the vacant chair beside Claire. She glared daggers at me, which I returned with a coy smile. And she rolled her eyes at me. I giggle. I can't help it, she's really cute when doing that.

Class hours passed quickly, and I didn't realize it was already lunchtime. Claire and I went to the cafeteria while she had this poker face all the time. I rarely see her smile. I wanted to know her past using my ability, but I stopped myself because I wanted her to share her past with me willingly. Looking at her eyes, I know she has a problem.

We just ate silently. I noticed the students were looking at us, which made me curious. What's with them?

"Uh, Claire... Why are they looking at us?" she just shrugged her shoulders.

"Don't mind them. Just eat." I pouted.

After eating, we went to the garden. Claire lay her back on the grass and I just sat while leaning against a tree.

"You know what... you are so weird." She suddenly blurted out, and I looked at her.

"How can you say so?" I asked and frowned. She sat up and looked at me intently.

"I don't know, but I know there's something strange about you. You keep telling me about your powers. And it's making me more curious." I look at her. Claire had doubted me, but I know she can keep a promise. I know that.

"Can you keep a secret, Claire?"

It took her a few seconds to answer. "Of course! You can tell me. But are you sure, though?" she said seriously.

I looked around first because someone might see what I was about to do. When I saw no one nearby, I opened my palm in front of her and showed my magic.

Her eyes widened as I showed her the fire, water, and ice. Then I created a rose flower and gave it to her. She took the rose in awe.

"You are telling me the truth all along..." she said while staring at me unbelievably. Can't blame her, though. To see something bizarre all of a sudden is so astounding indeed.

[Leena]

Ereia and her friends took Alyssa and me to the academy. We will live in the dorm temporarily until the portal will appear again. They said that the portal didn't appear for a long time, but when Luna arrived, the portal suddenly opened. The portal will only open during the full moon. Since the full moon is next month, we have no choice but to stay in this world temporarily.

"Is there no other way? Do you know anyone who can cast a portal?" I asked, and they looked at each other. Their shoulders drooped down with a sad expression.

"I'm sorry, Luna–I mean, Leena, we don't know anyone who can cast a portal. We only saw Luna do it..." I sighed. What now?

"Ah, Alyssa, why do you always wear sunglasses? And what's that moving in your head?" Ereia asked curiously.

Everyone turned their attention to Alyssa. And Alyssa looked tense with their stares.

Before I could stop Ereia from acting out, she already removed Alyssa's sunglasses.

"Oh, my god! Don't look at her eyes. Close your eyes!" I shouted, but it was too late because they gradually turned to stone. I was the only one who closed my eyes.

"Alyssa, have you worn your shades back?" I asked her without looking because I didn't wear my shades.

"You can open your eyes now, Leena," she said while suppressing her laughter.

I opened my eyes and looked at her with a sigh of relief.

When I looked at everyone, they all turned to stone. Alyssa and I burst out laughing. Pft! It’s so epic!

"Pft. That’s what they get for not listening. Hahaha," I said, suppressing my laughter.

"Ereia is so curious. Hahaha," Alyssa laughed.

Before I died from laughing, I touched them one by one and they were back to normal.

Their eyes widened as they looked at us, still laughing our asses off.

"You guys are funny! Hahaha," I said, still laughing.

"H-how did we turn to a stone?" they asked at once. Suddenly, my expression became serious. There was a look of shock on their faces at my sudden seriousness.

"If I wasn’t here, you'd become a stone for life. You're not careful. If you always put your curiosity first, you're doomed." They bowed down in shame.

"Sorry..." they said together. I nodded.

"Didn't I tell you that Alyssa's power is to turn a living being into a stone?" they nodded.

"Alyssa's hair is snakes and when you stare into her eyes, you turn to stone." their eyes widened in horror and gulped.

"Don't be afraid of her. Alyssa is kind. She won't turn you to stone again." they sigh in relief. They really thought Alyssa would turn them to stone again. Pft.

With my ability, I made a copy of my shades and gave it to them.

"Wear it so you can see Alyssa's entire face," I said, and they did what I said.

I turned to Alyssa and nodded. She told the snakes in her head to behave.

Alyssa slowly removed the cover from her head, and the snakes looked so happy while wriggling. Alyssa laughed when the snake danced. The guys looked so amazed at what they saw.

"Woah!"

Alyssa then removed her shades. Now they see Alyssa's yellow snake-like eyes, which glow when seeing a living being.

A lizard turned to stone, and I giggled. Alyssa immediately put back on the shades and cover her head. I immediately touched the lizard, and it returned to normal. It darted away, but its tail got cut off, which made me laugh.

"How did you turn the stone back to life?" Alesia asked, who had been watching me the entire time. It's really weird.

"It’s one of my abilities," I answered nonetheless.

They asked a lot of questions which we gladly answered. We talked for a few hours until late at night.

“It’s late. I think it’s time for bed.” Claudette said and yawned.

“Oh, my! Let’s continue tomorrow!” Ereia said, and we all stood up. We all walked back to the dorm.

I held Alesia's hand to stop her from walking. Her eyes widened slightly and stared at me. I quickly released her hand.

"Can I talk to you for a moment?"

“Okay…”

“Alyssa, go in first. I have something to talk about with Alesia.” I said, and she nodded hesitantly.

I pulled Alesia back to the garden. I let her hand go as soon as we arrived at the garden. She was quiet while staring at me weirdly.

"Why are you always staring at me? You look at me differently." She was stunned and I can tell she was nervous.

"Ah..." she bowed and her shoulder suddenly shook.

"Hey! Why are you crying?" It confused me. Did I say something wrong? I didn't intend to make her cry. She looked at me sadly.

"I'm sorry... I… I just remember Luna whenever I look at you. I miss her so much..." I stared at her in surprise. There's something between her and Luna, I can tell.

"So, you have a thing for my sister?" She fell silent and nodded slowly.

"I love her.... but she doesn't," she said and looked up at the dark sky.

Poor Alesia. But I know Luna very well. Luna only loves one person her entire life, and that isn’t her. I'm sure Luna likes Alesia too, but not strongly. She must’ve restrained herself because it's not right to like the same gender. Because it is a forbidden desire in our world. It is a grave mistake. Nowadays, I know it’s allowed to have a relationship of the same gender. Just not in our world. However, if I or Luna take over the throne one day, we will allow such relationships in Moondrous World. Because I saw many suffer from hiding their true feelings.

I sighed. I remember that today is my and Luna’s birthday. But I don’t feel like celebrating without her by my side.

‘Happy birthday, Luna…’

When we arrived home from school, it shocked Claire when I gave her a bundle of money I made in the morning.

"Where did that money come from?" she blurted out in disbelief.

I scratched my head. "Uh, I multiplied the money you gave me. It wasn’t enough for me to buy food. Hehe." She chuckled. "You don't have enough money to pay the tuition, don't you?" her eyes widened.

"How did you know?" She looked surprised.

"Remember, I have powers?"

"Of course. How can I forget you're not an ordinary human," she murmured, which made me laugh.

"Claire, do you want to fly?" She blinked her eyes multiple times.

"Really?!" she uttered in a high-pitched voice.

“Yes. But we should eat first. I’m hungry.” I said, and she nodded excitedly.

After eating, Claire pulled me outside in a hurry. She’s so excited. I’m glad Claire felt comfortable around me. I held her waist and flew upward.

Claire screamed and closed her eyes in surprise. I chuckled.

"Hey! Open your eyes. You will enjoy the view from up here. Promise!" She gradually opened her eyes. She looked overwhelmed but eventually seemed to enjoy the view.

"Wow!"

"See?"

"You know you're like Supergirl!"

"Supergirl? Who's that?"

"It's a TV show. I'll show you later. Like you, she has powers, too."

"Do you know Supergirl? I want to see her and know where she came from." She suddenly burst into laughter and my forehead furrowed.

"Hahaha, Supergirl is just a fictional character. She's not real, okay? It's just a show, hahaha," I was speechless. I thought she was real.

After we toured the entire city, we returned home.

"That was fun, Luna! Thank you!" I just smiled at her.

We were both exhausted, so Claire and I immediately fell asleep. However, an hour later, I felt something strange. I felt strong spiritual energy around the room. I woke up and looked at Claire when she suddenly moaned.

"Claire?" she still moaned like she was having a nightmare. I was stunned when suddenly something shone on her shoulder. I immediately looked over her right shoulder and saw a tattoo of an eagle. The tattoo glowed brightly, and the light enveloped Claire’s body.

What does this mean? Isn't Claire an ordinary human?

When the light subsided, Claire suddenly opened her eyes.

"Luna? Why are you still awake?" she asked in a hoarse voice.

"Claire... who really are you?" She looked at me like I had grown two heads.

"What are you saying?" I didn't go beating around the bush and use power on her. My eyes quickly glowed as I touched her tattoo.

I saw Claire’s past on how she got stuck in this place. She is also a magic user, but she doesn’t know it. Is that why I ended up in this place because of Claire?

The light in my eyes subsided. Claire looked at me, puzzled.

"Claire, you are like me." her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. But suddenly, her face scrunched up, and gripped her shoulder while writhing in pain. I panicked a little, so I teleported her with me to a hill.

I wasn’t wrong because she screamed in pain. Her eyes glow in green. Suddenly, a light enveloped Claire, and she stopped screaming. When the light subsided a little, I gasped because Claire's attire changed and her complexion turned whiter. She’s actually pretty. She was wearing a green knee-length dress and a tiara on her head. Is she a princess?

Claire scanned herself unbelievably. "W-What’s happening to me?"

She looked at me, baffled. "Luna, did you do this?" I laughed and shook my head.

"Claire, you're not an ordinary human. You also have power like me."

"What?! How?"

Should I tell her where she came from?

I cleared my throat. "Ehem. Claire, the family you grew up with is not your real family. You are a magic user like me. I don't know which dimension you come from, but your real family is also powerful."

She gasped. "Then how did I end up here?"

"Someone took you after you were born and brought you here to the mortal world."

Claire’s shoulder drooped down and her eyes got misty. “I’m so confused, Luna,” she mumbled.

Sigh…

It must be shocking to know she’s not from this world. She was lost deep in her thoughts, so I teleported us back to her rented room.

Claire keeps on tossing and turning on the bed. I guess she can’t fall asleep at the thought of her real family.

But I promise I will help her get back to her world.

The next day, Claire and I did not go to school. I helped her control her power. I teleported us again to the hill.

I told her to concentrate. She sat down with her legs crossed while closing her eyes. But I can tell she can’t concentrate because something is still bothering her.

"Claire, I know you still don't believe in your abilities. But find in your heart who you really are. Keep concentrating, Claire. Empty your mind,"

Her composure became relaxed and her breathing was calm. Finally, she got it right.

When she fluttered her eyes open, her eyes turned green, then immediately turned blue. Does that mean she has two powers?

My eyes widened slightly because one of Claire's eyes turned blue, and the other was green. Even her dress turned green and blue. Woah!

We discover Claire has two elemental abilities. An Earth Element and Water Element. Because I have two of her abilities, I trained her with what I know.

Claire had a hard time controlling her powers. When she did it wrong, she accidentally hurt herself. Fortunately, I had the power of healing, so her wound healed quickly.

It was already so late when we returned to Claire’s rented room. Claire was so tired from training that she immediately fell asleep when we arrived. I shook my head in amusement.

I lay down next to Claire. But I couldn’t sleep at all.

I wonder how mama and papa are doing? Is Leena doing okay? How are Alesia and the others?

I miss them already, but it looks like I won’t be able to go back to Moondrous yet. Because I still need to help Claire get back into her world. It must be the reason I stumbled upon this world.
