Lucius-Ever Green Series Book Three

Chapter CHAPTER 42

Lucius

It has been a few days since Chloe and Lucius had gotten married. Lucius, sometimes thought things were rushed into getting married. He did not really get a say in the matter, and it does matter to him. Both of them had not planned a honeymoon until after the twins were born. Now, that plan was put on the back burner for Chloe's health after being the subject. They had to move other plans around for them to plan their vacation.

Lucius was in the middle of a meeting with his father when a knock happened at the front door. He was about to get up, but Chloe near him to it.

"I got it," Chloe said, waddling to the door.

He went back to the meeting, and Chloe walked by. Then he asked,"Who was that?"

"It was only the food delivery, nothing else. I order groceries due to both of us being busy with work to leave the apartment. Plus, it's getting more uncomfortable to move too much with my back and feet hurting." Chloe said, putting the box in the kitchen.

Lucius's meeting was over and followed Chloe to the kitchen. He took the box from her. Both of them put everything away. Then he saw the ice cream and asked, "Chloe, when did you guess that Cookie Dough was my favorite ice cream?"

"I saw that you were feeling down the last few days after the wedding. I went over to Thomas to ask him what you did when you felt down. He told me you always got Cookie Dough ice cream, and it seemed to cheer you up. Just now, the smile on your face proved to have helped in that case. Cheers," Chloe said, walking out of the kitchen.

"Still, you could have asked me. You did not need to go to my friend about it," Lucius comments.

"Are we going to argue about this?" Chloe questioned.

"No, we are not just going to talk about this," Lucius tells Chloe.

Chloe folded her arms over her chest and said, "Let's get on with it then."

"You did not need to ask Thomas everything about me. Just ask me these things. Not go behind my back. It seems weird that you would do that when we live together. You do not feel like you need to do it every time we hang out with our friends." Lucius comments.

"Did you ask Margo anything about me?" Chloe asked.

"No, I never did that to you. So, you don't need to do that to me either. Are we both clear that we will just ask either not to go behind either back from now on?" Lucius informed.

Chloe only nodded and left the kitchen with her chips. She went to the bedroom to work on her freelance projects.

Lucius went back to doing more meetings for the council that his father had asked him to attend. He spent the next two hours doing that. Then he did some of the paperwork that his father had sent to him over the computer. After he did all of that paperwork, he decided to hang out with Chloe for the rest of the evening. Both of them went to bed soon after.

Another week had gone by, and Lucius was getting into routine with his work schedule. Chloe made her routine, so she was herself prepared for the twins. She was arguing with him less than usual. Unless they both decided to give the other slack for getting used to being married as well. Lucius told himself that things would get better when the twins were here.

"Are you sure we are okay?" Chloe asked suddenly late in the week.

"Yes, we were fighting a lot but mostly over stupid crap that should have been an easy brezze to worry about at a later date." Lucius commented.

"Well, I still feel like we went overboard with arguing over the vacation you had planned with your father that weekend. You do not want to go anywhere due to how pregnant I am," Chloe informed him again.

"I accidentally said that, but I am not stopping you from doing your normal routine that you created in the last two weeks. I will not interfere with it. Just in case, don't do anything that will strain you," Lucius told Chloe.

Chloe walked away from him as he said that to her. She went back to the bedroom to work on her book.

After that weird interaction with Chloe the week before, Lucius felt like he was losing his my mind. He tried to have a conversation with his father about it. His father tried to say it was the fact he was going to be a father in two months that it would blow over. Things for him have not been okay. Later, he decided to call Thomas to hang out instead. Thomas came by to pick him up.

"How have you been? It has been a while since we hung out last. What made you want to hang out suddenly?" Thomas questions.

"Chloe and I have been fighting more than usual. She has either been having more emotional mood swings the last two weeks. My father has me working double time with meetings that he wanted me to attend for him. He also sent so much paperwork for me to do. I swear I am burning out from doing all of this work he wants done. I just need to get away for the day," Lucius vented.

"I guess today is definitely needed. Margo could keep Chloe company while we do our thing for a couple of hours. I will text or call her now," Thomas mentions.

Thomas pulls over to call Margo to let her know that Chloe could use her friend to hang with for a couple of hours. He asked her to bring snacks for them to cheer either up. Lucius was grateful that Thomas was doing this for them. He will have to return the favor soon.

Lucius and Thomas spent the afternoon driving around the clear their heads. After driving around, both of guys decided to meet up with their wives to chill the rest of the day.
