Lucius-Ever Green Series Book Three

Chapter CHAPTER 41

Chloe

Chloe woke up and looked over at her clock as soon she heard the front door door bell ring, banging on the door. Lucius scrambled out of bed to hurry to the front door.

"COMING!" Lucius shouted, coming out of the room.

Then she heard voices coming up from the living room. Margo appeared in the doorway and knocked on the doorframe. She also replies, "Knock, knock."

"Morning. Do I look like I haven't slept in days? I am nervous to the point of wanting to puke," Chloe admitted.

"Please do not get sick. I felt the same way on my wedding day. The only thing I did not decide on was getting married at the courthouse. You got this," Margo said with encouragement.

"Are you sure?" Chloe said with appreciation.

"Yes, I am sure. Now, let's start getting you ready." Margo said, waddling over to the vanity. She points for Chloe to sit down.

Thomas comes strolling by the door and stops to pick up Lucius’s suit. Then he walks back out, not to bother the girls. Margo only laughed at her husband and shut the door. She came back to the vanity to start doing Chloe's hair and make-up.

"I brought food for us to have while we are getting ready. The guys can fend for themselves from the kitchen," Margo laughs, opening her other bag.

"You did not have to do that, but then again, both of us are expecting." Chloe comments.

An hour has passed, and Chloe's hair and make up was done. There was another knock on the front door. This time, Margo left the room to answer it instead. She walked back to the bedroom and revealed her mother.

"I love what you did to her face and hair, Margo," Mrs. Swartz appraised.

"Where's dad, Mom?" Chloe asked.

"Wilma, you had to leave the front door unlocked," Mr. Swartz chastised coming down the hallway towards the bedroom. He looks at the semi-closed door and waves before going to help the guys out.

"Now, we can fully begin," Mrs. Swartz replies.

Margo helped Chloe up from the vanity. Her mother went over to the closet to get the dress out. Chloe stepped into it. The girls got dressed soon after Chloe was done getting ready.

There was a knock on the door. One of the guys said, "We are done and going to meet you over at the courthouse."

Margo poked her head out and replied, "Okay, we are just about done and will follow suit."

They rode in separate vehicles to avoid seeing what either was wearing. Margo was the one driving the car. Her mother sat in the passenger seat. Chloe sat in the back. They made it to the courthouse. Chloe and Lucius both went inside and made it just in time with a few minutes to spare.

The courthouse wedding went smoothly, and nothing went wrong. Now that Chloe and Lucius were both legally married. Both of them decided to go back to the apartment to change. Then, they were to meet the others at the restaurant on the corner from their apartment.

The group celebrated the wedding at the restaurant. Luckily, the restaurant staff helped with the celebration by having one of their friends calling a couple of days prior to the courthouse wedding. When Chloe and Lucius entered the restaurant, they received a surprise party.

"Did you know about this?" Chloe asked Margo.

"Maybe," Margo replied cryptically.

"This is the best surprise I had in a long time. Besides finding out about the twins. I consider this to be a new beginning." Chloe told Margo.

Margo only hugged her. She takes Chloe by the hand towards the table where there are gifts and food platters out on display. Then Margo grabbed a plate and filled it with food. She gave the plate to Chloe to have. Lucius comes over with a drink in hand.

"Are you enjoying yourself?" Lucius asked.

"Yes, I am. Why are you not?" Chloe questioned.

"Parties are not my thing. I will try to enjoy for your sake," Lucius told Chloe.

"You can pretend that you are having a good time. What is wrong? Are you regretting marrying me now, too?" Chloe sobbed and got up to leave towards the bathroom.

Lucius was about to say something but did not get a chance, too.

Margo walks over to Lucius and asks, "What was that about?"

"I have no clue. Chloe must be feeling her emotional today. I told her parties were not my thing. She took as an assumption of me not wanting to be married to her. Then, she walked off towards the bathroom. Can you go check on her?" Lucius begged.

"Okay, but if it is something more than what you told me. It is your head." Margo walked away after saying that to Lucius.

Chloe was sitting in the bathroom stall, clunking a snot covered toilet paper in her hand. Her makeup was now smeared down her face due to her sobbing. She heard a knock on the door and said, "Go away."

"Chloe, it's me, Margo. Can I come in?" Margo said, from outside the bathroom.

"Yes, but close the door behind you," Chloe instructed.

The door opens, and Margo does just that. Chloe moves out of the bathroom stall. Margo looks at her friend's face and frowns. She was about to leave the bathroom again to slap Lucius’s face. Chloe lunges for her friend's hand. She shakes her head and stands near the sink.

"Did you have a mood swing that made you bawl your eyes out? You ruined your make-up. You have mascara lines down your cheeks. Do you need me to fix your face? I did threaten Lucius about hurting your feelings before. He did just that," Margo said," angrily.

"It was the pregnancy hormones talking and me run off. Do not threaten Lucius for something he has no control over?" Chloe told Margo.

"What do you want me to do?" Margo questioned.

"Help me fix my face. I can't go back out there looking like this," Chloe said, looking at her reflection in the mirror.

"Fine, I just need to grab my bag. Just stay in here." Margo instructed.

Chloe turned on the sink to try to wash off the mascara on her cheeks. The water and the soap only smeared her lipstick onto her cheek instead. She huffed and groaned at her reflection. Margo comes back to the bathroom. She locked the door so they would not be interrupted by other people. Margo opened her makeup bag and got to work on fixing her friend's face. Chloe's grateful to have Margo in her life. It made her day better by the kind gesture. Her mother would have made her go back out there looking like a clown.

Margo was done, and a knock sounded on the bathroom. She told whomever was out there that it was occupied. Chloe looked at her reflection and smiled at her. Then she hugged Margo. They both left the bathroom together in high spirits.

Chloe went back to the table. Lucius was looking down and seemed upset. She sat down.

"Why are you upset?" Chloe asked.

"I'm sorry for how I acted. Margo mentioned how upset you were in the bathroom. She told me how it was," Lucius answered.

"I was having a terrible mood swing. Those are not going away anytime soon. Considering, I have three months to go yet." Chloe laughed at herself.

"Today was overwhelming in some ways, though," Lucius suggested.

"Yes, it was," Chloe agreed.

Lucius and Chloe went over and got refreshments. Both opened gifts that they received from family members. Then the reception party was over, and everyone went home for the night.

Later in the day, Chloe felt relief she was married. She made her parents happy. Now, she is Chloe Wentz, not Swartz.
