Lucius-Ever Green Series Book Three

Chapter 20

Joe

It had been another week since trying to keep a low profile by staying in the woods of Ian's pack boundary. The patrol guards have not picked up on his scent yet. The wolves seemed to be busy with other things like making sure other members were taken care of. Ian must have no idea that Joe was hiding on his land or not far from it. Thinking that werewolves are stupid. Carson was planning something from what he picked up with some guards walking by. Joe ducked behind a shrub. Picking up his phone to call them again.

Joe kept calling Chloe and Lucius, hoping they were answering their phones. Both are just going to ignore him now. They both think that I am not watching them from afar. He tried calling them in the middle of the night but only picked up the answering machine.

"Hello, Carson. It's Joe. My plan is not working. I think using plan B and just grabbing Chloe and taking us into hiding." Joe stated.

"Chloe is well-guarded at the compound, so taking her would cause a problem for me. You realize the state you are in, Joe. Chloe has gotten over you and accepted that already." Carson said desperately.

"Are you turning against me now, Carson?" Joe questioned.

"Maybe I am because I don't want to be the one to clean up the pieces again like the last time." Carson hung up on Joe.

Joe was pissed that his friend hung up on him, and knowing what he said was true about him not letting go. He does not want to let Chloe move on and feels like she needs him. Then decided to leave the comforts of the woods and traveled into town. Notices Chloe leaving the compound and follows her at a distance. He notices that she pulls up in front of an apartment building and waits for her friend to get into her car. They drove off soon.

Follows Margo and Chloe into town and uses the black Honda Civic that he stole to keep from being noticed by other people. The two girls were just shopping. Boring. He decided to wait outside the store. Both girls were walking out of the store.

"Chloe!" Joe shouted.

Chloe turns to see who shouted her name. Her eyes fell on him. Margo noticed her friend stopped walking and saw the reason why. Joe was close enough to grab her wrist.

"What are you doing here?" Chloe asked angrily.

"I was in town. I wanted to see you." Joe said in partial truth.

"Well, I don’t want to see you, and leave me alone," Chloe said before she was about to walk away.

Joe was not liking this from Chloe and grabs her wrist. Then he drags her back to face him and says, "I don't like your tone of voice."

He grips her wrist tight enough to start bruising.

"Let go of me. You're hurting me." Chloe cries out from the pain of his grip.

"I would not be like this if you and Lucius would stop ignoring my calls. Ian does not know I have been watching and not knowing it." Joe laughs.

"Just leave me alone. Some help me please!" Chloe begs loud enough for some passers-by just staring at her.

"You think those humans were going to help you? They would let you suffer." Joe whispers in Chloe's ear.

Joe laughed at Chloe's fear.

Chloe began to cry aloud enough that her friend heard. She started tugging on his hand to let her go.

Margo hears her friend cries and runs over to see Joe roughly gripping Chloe's arm. Chloe was trying to tug her arm or push on his hand off of her. Joe only grips tighter. Chloe drops her bags on the ground.

Joe was trying to drag Chloe further off the sidewalk. Margo tries to tug Joe off of her. She could not take it and pushed Joe to the ground. Catching Chloe before she fell to the ground, Margo rushes over to her. Both girls ran over to the side of the street and got out of there.

Looking around, Joe got up from the ground trying to find Chloe. He notices that she was gone. Thinking to himself how stupid of him for letting her get away. This pissed him off. He ran over to Margo’s apartment building. He saw Chloe's car dropping off Margo. Then waited until Chloe left to attack Margo’s place.

Not bothering to use the elevator, Joe took the stairs and beat Margo to her apartment. Joe rushed Margo who later fell over. She tried to push Joe off of her.

"You think you could help Chloe? You are wrong to get involved." Joe said in her ear.

"You think I am afraid of you think again," Margo threatened him.

Joe released his fangs and tried to bite her. The door to Margo’s apartment opened. A teenage girl stood in the hallway. She growled at him. The girl took Joe off of Margo and dragged him inside. Margo placed her bags in the kitchen. She comes out to the living room.

Joe was tied to the chair. He was trying to move around but gave up.

"Why did you follow me home?" Margo asked.

"I wanted to teach a lesson about messing with a vampire." Joe spat.

"Well, you should not try to grab Chloe. Then attack me. I will tell the council about this," Margo said.

"You think doing will help you when you and this girl are wanted by the council," Joe taunted Margo.

"I think not leaving your ex alone and stalking her is not an excuse to follow her around and call her all the time when she does not want anything to do with you," Ava said close to Joe's ear.

"I think you should leave this town for good. Leave Chloe and Lucius alone." Margo said untying Joe from the chair and pushing him out of the apartment.

"I will be back and you will regret it," Joe threatened before walking away.
