Chapter 698 Damian Is Gone
"If I hadn't talked to Uncle Callum, he wouldn't have crashed into the car. It's all my fault. What will happen if he doesn't wake
up?" Just the thought of what happened scared him.
Elspeth was devastated when she saw his reaction. Thus, she ruffled his head and comforted him. "Don't worry about it, Damian.
Uncle Callum is a good man, so he'll be fine."
"Really?" Damian looked at her with a face full of tears.
"Of course. Stop worrying and rest well. I'm going to check on him."
After comforting Damian until he calmed down, Elspeth left and stood outside the emergency room. Looking at the red light
above the operating theater, she felt a pang in her heart.
After all, she hoped her story with Callum wouldn't end here since they had just finally gotten together.
She prayed deep down that everything would be fine.
One hour... Three hours... Seven hours... Thirteen hours...
From 8.00AM to 9.00PM, time slowly slipped passed, and Elspeth was getting more and more anxious. Luckily, the operation
was a success. When the bright red lights were switched off, Elspeth slumped against the chair.
Although Callum was alive, he still had to be transferred to the ICU. Once everything was stable, he would be transferred to a
normal ward.
With that, Elspeth finally calmed down. Besides buying food for Damian, she had been standing here all day. Once she got the
news, she wanted to share it with Damian. However, when she arrived at Damian's ward, no one was there.
Damian was gone!
Just as Elspeth had finally calmed down, her heart began to race again. She hurried out of the room and encountered a nurse
who was going to send in some medical essentials. She was also the same nurse that bandaged Damian.
"Miss, can I ask you a question? Do you still remember the boy whom you bandaged this morning?"
The nurse still remembered Damian since he was good-looking. Plus, Elspeth was beautiful too, so her memory was still fresh.
She nodded and said, "Yes. What's the matter?"
"He's gone. Do you know where he could have gone?"
"Maybe he just went to the toilet? Or he might have gone out to play." The nurse was confused.
After all, she remembered that the boy was obedient. Usually, most kids would have been scared to death by the scene, yet the
little boy sat there without even flinching when she bandaged him.
"No. I searched everywhere, but there's still no sight of him." Elspeth panicked. "He is a good boy, so he wouldn't have gone out
without telling anyone."
The nurse felt pity for Elspeth since she looked like a nervous wreck. Thus, she said, "Calm down. Since your kid is good, I'm
sure he's still around. There are surveillance cameras in the hospital. Why don't I take you to check on it? Let's see if we can find
your child."
Elspeth nodded and followed the nurse to the monitor room. However, she was told that the surveillance cameras were broken
today.
"Why didn't you guys immediately repair it when the cameras were broken?" Elspeth was angry when she saw how unconcerned
the doctor was.
"It's not an easy task, Madam." The doctor clicked his tongue. "If the surveillance cameras are broken, we must report to many
superiors before it can be fixed. It's not as easy as you think it is."
The nurse knew this doctor had a bad temper, so she tugged on Elspeth's arm and whispered, "Don't take his words to heart. His
uncle is the director of this hospital, so he has always taken advantage of that and does as he pleases. Please excuse him for
his behavior."
"Why should I do that?" Elspeth snorted coldly and looked at the man who was sitting on the chair unscrupulously. "I'm going to
report you."
Hearing her words, the man pricked up his ears and said, "Go on. Report as much as you want. Let's see if you can do it." The
man was arrogant since his uncle was the head of the hospital. "However, I suggest you think twice before you act. If you dare to
offend me, I'm not sure if your lover will be able to survive."
Elspeth took a deep breath to suppress her anger. Then, she stared at the man's name tag.
"Is your name Richard Tole?"
Richard snorted and leaned against the chair as he fumbled with a pen. "Let me tell you, even if you beg me, I..."
Before he could finish his words, Elspeth kicked him in the chest, stopping him from talking.
Although she didn't use full force, the man still fell backward and to the ground with a thud.
"What a useless piece of garbage!"
The man scowled in pain as he lay on the floor. He staggered up and felt his whole body hurt.
"How dare you hurt me? Do you know who I am? My uncle is..."
"Shut your goddamn mouth!"
Elspeth raised her fist, and Richard immediately shut up. He touched his head and felt something wet. When he looked at his
hand, he noticed blood on it.
F*ck! She's really mad! Richard scolded inwardly.
On the other hand, the nurse froze on the spot. She didn't expect someone as fragile as Elspeth to be so strong. At that moment,
she told herself to be careful around Elspeth. Otherwise, who knew when she would get a beating too?
"Miss Lynwood, why don't we look for him somewhere else?" The nurse's words snapped Elspeth back to her senses.
Since she was in a hurry, she didn't stay any longer. She glared at the man and left with satisfaction when she was sure he
wouldn't say anything ridiculous anymore.
The nurse quickly followed her.
After they were gone, the man touched his wound again and yelped in pain.
"F*ck. What a crazy woman she is." Then, he took out his phone and dialed a number.
"Is everything set?"
"Don't worry, sir. Everything is fine. I told the woman that the surveillance cameras were broken, so she couldn't check it."
"Very well. The 450 thousand is already in your bank account."
Richard immediately forgot about his wound and smiled when he heard about the money. "Don't worry. I'll keep this a secret and
take it to my grave."
