Love that heals

Ashutosh:

We reached the US and rented a flat there with the help of someone known to my parents. I felt happy as Rudrani will get freedom to enjoy her life. For a minute, words of her father made me to think but I shoved off those thoughts aside. I don't think my love will change.

I was enjoying the scenery of pleasant surroundings from the glass window. Rudrani hugged me from back.

"I love you, Ashu," Rudrani said.

I turned towards her and kissed her forehead. I love to kiss her forehead seeing her sweet smile and glowing eyes.

"I love you too, my dear wife," I said.

"I never imagined that I will do my Masters in the US. This is all just because of your support, Ashu. Thank you so much. I have never seen a husband like you who supports wife unconditionally and helps to make her every dream true. You are so sweet."

"I will do anything to keep this smile alive on your beautiful face. I love to see your happiness."

"Ashu, shall we go out? I want to go for sightseeing," Rudrani asked and I agreed immediately.

First week went on with sightseeing and enjoying the time with my love. Her expressions while visiting the places made me smile. We joined in the university and started focusing on study.

Rudrani made friends there who were NRIs and Americans. Being the sharp student in the class, within two months, Rudrani gained attention of professors and classmates. Her circle of friends increased day by day. I understood that she wants to spend time with her new friends. I didn't object as I want her to be free and independent.

Slowly she started coming home very late from the college. She told that she was spending in her friend's home. One month passed by and she reached home at 12 in the midnight. She had her dinner and came to room. "Where were you till now, Rudrani?" I asked her.

"I went to my friend's home. There we had group study and I forgot the time," she said without looking at me.

"It's too late and not safe to return home at this time. From next time call me, I will pick you up. I don't want any risk," I said.

"It's okay, I can come by myself. I didn't want to trouble you. Moreover it's US, I don't think it's a problem here."

"Girls don't have safety anywhere in the world. It's my responsibility to take care of my wife. Call me to pick you from tomorrow. Good night," I said and slept without extending the argument.

I recalled the words of Rudrani's father before coming to the US.

Shut! No, I shouldn't think in this way. Rudrani is my wife and she is good. She knew well to handle the situations and the freedom given to her. I threw away all the thoughts and slept cuddling Rudrani. I kissed on her forehead and found that she had slept already.

In the morning, I prepared the breakfast and Rudrani came to the dining hall. We had the breakfast quickly and went to the college. In the afternoon, Rudrani came to me.

"Ashu, I am going to the shopping with my friends. I won't be attending the afternoon classes," Rudrani said.

"But, why don't you go after the class? I don't want you to miss the classes," I said softly.

"The class is so boring," Rudrani said making me shocked.

Until now, I had never heard from Rudrani that a class was boring. Even though, faculty didn't teach well, Rudrani finds a way to make the subject and class interesting. But, for the first time she told class was boring to go shopping. I didn't want her focus to get diverted from her goal. But what if she takes it in a wrong way if I ask her to stay in the class?

"Rudrani, come let's go," one of her friend called her.

"I am leaving, Bye," Rudrani said but I held her hand.

"You are attending the class," I said.

"I want to go for the shopping," Rudrani said.

"You can go after the class. You came here to study. So, please don't forget your purpose," I said.

"Only for today, please," Rudrani said.

"Okay, fine. Go for today, but don't miss the class again. Today, after the shopping come home early. I will teach you the topic taught by the faculty today," I said and she nodded.

Rudrani left the class. I finished all my classes and in the evening, I returned home. Rudrani didn't return yet. I got fresh up and brewed a coffee for me. The aroma of the coffee beans added in the hot water refreshed me to some extent. I finished preparing the coffee and sipped it. The hot coffee relaxed me completed from the tiredness.

After sometime, I revised the topics and jotted out the important points from today's topics. Still, Rudrani didn't come back and I prepared the dinner. I had my dinner and waited for Rudrani. I dialled her number many times, but she didn't receive my call. I didn't understand where was she.

At 11 pm, I heard the ring of the door bell. I opened the door and found Rudrani and her friend.

"Actually Ashutosh, by mistake Rudrani took a peg. She lost her stability, so I brought her home," Her friend Anhena said.

"Okay, thank you," I said.

I lifted Rudrani in my arms and took her to the bed. I changed her dress and fed her the dinner. She slept and I couldn't sleep. I felt restless seeing Rudrani.

In the morning, Rudrani woke up earlier and prepared breakfast for us. I felt it strange as Rudrani never woke up soon from the day she made new friends. I used to prepare the food everyday and completed all the works at home as I wanted her to enjoy her freedom.

"Ashu, coffee," Rudrani gave to me.

"Thank you, sweety. How are you now? Your friend told you took a peg by mistake. Did you have a headache or something?" I asked her.

"No, I am fine, Ashu," Rudrani said but her eyes had water drops.

I kept the coffee cup on the table and stood up immediately from my chair. I cupped her face and wiped her tears.

"Sweet heart, what happened to you? Why were you crying?" I asked her.

Rudrani didn't speak anything. She hugged me tightly. I patted on her back and caressed her hairs.

"Are you fine, Rudrani?"

I fed her the breakfast and we went to the college. Rudrani sat beside me leaving her friends. I didn't understand anything but I took care of her expecting something was wrong. Unfortunately, the time table of the semesters released announcing we have semester within fifteen days. We focused on exams and Rudrani started being with me in the college without talking to anyone.

I tried to know the reason behind it, but she didn't say anything. We finished the exams.

"Rudrani, shall we go out?" I asked her as we both were tired with exams and preparation.

"I want to go to India," Rudrani said.

"We can't go, Rudrani. We have classes. We will miss our classes. If you want, we will Skype with our family," I said to her.

"I want to be in your arms for sometime, please," Rudrani said.

I smiled and took her into my lap hugging her. One month past by and Rudrani became normal. She focused on the study and we both shared the household work. Results were announced and I topped in the semester. Rudrani congratulated

me.

"What about you?" I asked.

She didn't speak.

I checked the result and she failed in three subjects which shocked me. I looked at her as I couldn't believe it.

"I am sorry, I broke your trust," Rudrani said.

"It's okay, my love. You have to focus more. I will help you," I said giving her a side hug.

After reaching our home, I consoled her. I got a call from one of my classmates asking me to see the Facebook of our University, while preparing the dinner. I checked the page and found a video on Rudrani.

Seeing the surroundings, I understood that it was a pub. When did she go for a pub? Rudrani took three pegs and danced with another classmate who was a boy. Then they went to a room. Rudrani kissed the boy and they both were so close to each other. I clenched my fist seeing the video.

"Ashu, is the dinner ready? Shall I set the table?" Rudrani said.

I didn't speak anything. How could I ask Rudrani about this video? Is it true or fake? What if it's a fake video? I should be careful and I didn't want to hurt Rudrani.
