Chapter 47 Ashu's Love Speech
Ashutosh:
I was disappointed with her answer but I didn't want to show it off to Rudrani.
"Okay, I think you need time. Take your time."
I was leaving but she held my hand. I looked at her.
"I said no because I think it's not business to make deals. It's relationship. We shouldn't have deals between us but we should have," Rudrani paused.
"We should have....?" I asked wondering at her pause.
"We should have love between us," Rudrani said slowly.
"I think already we love each other."
Rudrani smiled. I held her hand.
"I am sorry if I hurt you by asking you to stay here as a guest. But, I did it just for you."
Rudrani gave a confused look to me.
"Yes, Rudrani. You are in the final year of medicine. I thought having a separate room and doing no works will help you to concentrate on your studies more. I didn't take such decision due to anger at you," I said softly. "But I am unable to concentrate on anything when you are away from me," Rudrani said emotionally.
I understood what she want. I immediately lifted her in bridal style.
"Ashu, what is this? What are you doing?"
"I am welcoming back my princess to our room," I said and walked from there with her.
"Mom and dad will see, please let me walk," Rudrani said.
I smiled at her and continued my work. Mom and dad were in the living room. They noticed us but ignored as if they didn't notice. Rudrani relaxed and encircled her arms around my neck. I brought my princess to our room. I dropped her carefully on the bed.
"Welcome back to our heaven, dear angel," I said kissing her forehead.
Rudrani held my hand gesturing me to sit beside her. I sat beside her. "Ashu, I know I am not behaving as a wife to you and I..."
I cut her off before she completes as I know what she wanted to say.
"Rudrani, you no need explain me anything. From now, I won't ask you anything. Do whatever you feel is right and I am sure, you will never do anything wrong," I said.
"I will never break your trust, Ashu. I will try to open up before you to share my problems and everything," Rudrani said looking into my eyes.
"That's fine sweetheart but I love you more than before, after understanding you completely. I shouldn't have shouted at you for Sanjay. Sanjay is your friend from childhood and obviously there will be more closeness between you both than between us as you didn't know me well. Of course, as a husband I am possessive towards you and at some time, I thought you are in love with Sanjay," I said regretting misunderstanding my wife.
"I don't love anyone," Rudrani said and I looked at her once.
Because, she said she don't love anyone not didn't love anyone. Does it mean that she doesn't love me too? Did I lose her love because of my possessiveness and bit of anger?
"Except you," Rudrani said kissing my hand.
God, this girl know very well where to pause her words and tense me.
"Ashu, Let me be frank. Till now, I feel I have done only one mistake i. e. lying to you about medical camp. I should have told you the truth. My lie made you angry and you said you will divorce me. I didn't understand what to say because I truly don't know how to convince a person. I don't have a habit of showing my tears to anyone. So, I behaved normally hiding my pain. On the day, I agreed for divorce just to cut off the argument as I know I am at fault. I don't want to defend myself giving you the reasons behind that act. I tried to talk to you but you behaved as if you are not interested. I thought if I peace for few days to my parental home, your anger may reduce. Only for that reason, I left our home. You brought me back to our home and agreed to forget everything. I too felt happy as you forgave me and decided never to lie to you. But, suddenly you scared me with your behaviour pretending to force me misunderstanding that I decided to divorce you. I remembered that idiot who tried to molest me in my childhood and I was totally scared of you," Rudrani said.
"I am sorry, Rudrani. I never misbehave with you again. I promise," I said sincerely and with guilty for hurting and frightening her.
"Maybe you are right, you have done only one mistake. Remaining things were misunderstood and overreacted by me.
Sanjay is your friend. Of course, as a good friend, you should keep his personal affairs as a secret. Though I was angry with you initially, I felt you did right. If you maintain secrets of a friend this well, I am sure you will never share anything about your husband or inlaws with others. This is very rare quality in present days i. e.
valuing others personal life and their secrets. I love you more for that.
Rudrani, many believe that there should be no secrets between husband and wife. But, it's just a myth and impossible in life. Husband and wife should be frank with each but it doesn't mean that they both should share secrets of their friends and professional issues. I understood that wife too has a life and sometimes they can't reveal few things but it's not that they mean to hurt us. You fought for your friend but agreed to sacrifice your career for me. I love you more for teaching me what is true love. You love your career but accepted my words though it hurts you a lot. Taking pain for beloved is known as true love. I love you more and more for that.
When I disagreed to pay your fees, you solved it by yourself. I love you more and more and more for your self dependent nature. When I said I will pay your fees, you reminded me that it's not my money and still I am a dependant on my parents unlike you. I found a job in another hospital today. I hope now I am not dependant and I think I can use my salary for my wife," I said.

I just said that I have no right on inlaws money. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings," Rudrani said with a dull face.
"Rudrani, I didn't take it wrongly but I want to help my wife. I realised that till now I didn't bring even a single gift to my wife with my money. Thank you for changing my thought process and making me independent too. I love you more and more and more and more for that.
You disliked to live in a separate room that shows your love for me. When dad blamed you saying you messed with my life, I became angry but you dealt it very maturely. You showed your love and respect towards your inlaws. You tried to understand dad's words than getting hurt or hurting dad. I love you more and more and more and more and more for that."
"Ashu, whatever dad said is absolutely true. You are not the same Ashu whom I saw before our marriage. I ruined your life by taking away your happiness. My messed life make your life miserable. You lost your smile and charm," Rudrani said. I pulled her into my lap and hugged her from back.
"From now, I never demand anything from you. I love you as you are.
Rudrani, you didn't mess my life. Actually you made it more awesome by teaching me courage by without giving up till now on life though you faced a lot in your life, selflessness, true love, understanding everyone, valuing others secrets and life, self dependence. You also taught me that in any relationship, the necessary quality is friendship but not showing authority or domination.
Yes, I am not the same childish Ashu whom you saw before our marriage. But, do you know why? Because this Ashu became more matured, understanding and loving after marrying you. However I don't agree that I lost my charm, jovialness or naughtiness after marriage but I am just saving all those for my wife to make her addict to me. Why should I waste my best qualities for others which I can use for impressing my love?" I said and kissed her cheek.
"Ashu, I love your naughtiness than this long love speech and I fell for your naughtiness," Rudrani said mocking a kid and holding my hands.
"You," I said seriously and she turned towards me encircling her arms around my neck
"Me??" She asked raising her eye brows dramatically.
"You are my sweet sweet wife," I said and placed my lips on her strawberry sundae savoring the delicious taste before she reacts.
