Love that heals

Chapter 20 Rudrani understanding Ashu

Rudrani:

"What are you doing here Rudrani?" I heard a serious masculine commanding voice making me drop the file right onto the floor.

Ashu came towards me and looked at me and the scattered papers all over the floor. I was frightened thinking that Ashu may scold me for viewing the confidential file without his permission. Ashu filed the scattered papers. "Shall we go, love? I came to pick you," he said generally.

"I am sorry, I shouldn't have read the file. I know it's confidential but....." before I could complete Ashu stopped my words by touching my lips with his forefinger.

"Nothing is confidential between my wife and me."

Thank God, he was not angry. How can Ashu be this sweet and loving?

"Sweetheart, I think you have a lifetime to stare at me," Ashu said making me blush.

"Ashu, is that true? Is Artika suffering from suicidal tendency?"

He sighed for a moment and nodded.

"Love failure? Whom did she love?" I asked wishing it shouldn't be my Ashu.

"Artika loved me, Rudrani."

Tears were ready to touch my eyes, but my husband cupped my face making me look into his eyes where I can see nothing but his pure love.

"I realized her crush on me before our marriage, but I didn't know it's that serious. After our marriage, she returned to the city from vacation. Knowing that we were married, she attempted suicide. Tina called me, and we went to Artika's room where I found her unconscious. Our mom treated her."

I saw him blankly.

"Rudrani, I saw you for the first time on the Television. I really liked the way you are. I love you, Rudrani. If you look yourself with my eyes, you will realize how beautiful you are.

Rudrani, you are not at fault. If an obsessed lover attacked you, it doesn't mean you should make him win by discouraging yourself. I don't know what is bothering you, but if it's my friendship with Artika, please understand that only you are in my heart and no one else has a place in it.

I promise I never leave your hand until my last breath. Just trust me one time, I love you," Ashu said looking into my eyes.

I hugged him with tears. Till now Ashu is the only one who said I am not wrong and understood me well. He hugged me back and broke the hug after some time. His looks were shifted towards my lips, and I felt nervous. He came closer to me and expressed his love in the form of an unforgettable first kiss. I forgot the surroundings and hugged me to hide my embarrassment.

He smiled at me and made me sit in his seat. He locked the cabin door and jumped onto the table to sit in front of me on the table. I couldn't look at me after that kiss. I was blushing hard, and Ashu held my hands and kissed again. He explained Artika's case to me completely.

"Ashu, one day I came to your college to meet you knowing your conversation with my dad. I heard you saying that you love Artika and married me to save me from that professor, why did you propose her?" I asked directly. I want to clear the issue with Ashu.

"Artika was stubborn to take the treatment. I was left with no option except to make her believe that I love her. I know I was wrong in talking like that, but that's the only way to make her accept the treatment. Even now, she believes that I will marry her leaving you after her recovery. I am sorry," Ashu said holding my hand tight understanding my feelings.

"It's okay, Ashu but I don't think this is the right way. She may get depressed again even after recovery if she comes to know you didn't love her. Another important thing is she won't believe you anymore, and we may not be able to handle her at that time," I said.

"I will reveal the truth to her soon, but till don't mind if I show care on her. However, there will be a lot of difference in the care I show on my wife and my friend. You are my priority, Rudrani."

"Ashu, I want to make our relationship work. I know I am insecure, and still, I don't think I love you completely, but I can say one thing, i. e., I can't imagine a day without you."

"Rudrani, I can understand you. It's tough for you to trust me at once. I will wait. Rudrani, do you know why I accompanied you to your parental house?"

"I don't know."

"Rudrani, I noticed you panicking at night and shivering in sleep. You are sobbing every day in sleep. I felt I can't leave you in that situation. I try to pacify you every night, and you drift back into sleep hugging me and holding my hands tight." I noticed it many times. I know I am still in trauma caused by that incident. I feel panicked and negative thoughts bury my confidence and strength. Acting strong is hard when we really need someone to share our pain with. I never opened up myself to anyone until now. I remained silent as I didn't feel free to share everything with Ashu even now. I need time.

"Rudrani, who is he and what is his background? I want to know the details of the culprit."

I remembered my struggle when I registered a case against that idiot and how I was forced to stay quite having no evidence to prove his cruel act. "Silence is not the answer. I want to know about him. Tell me," I realized his anger towards that person and impatience towards me for staying calm.

"Ashu, I want to go home," I said.

"Are you scared of him?" Ashu asked.

"I am not scared of the person who attacked me with acid, but I was scared of people and this society who pointed out me without my mistake. Ashu, I tried to fight against him, but I failed."

"You were alone at that time, but now I am with you."

"I know Ashu. You will go to any extent to get the culprit punished, but I am not ready to face the pressure and stress which I experienced earlier. I just need someone who understands me completely and assures me peace in his arms. I found you who stays by my side and helps me to overcome the fear created by that incident. Just be with me," I said, and Ashu gave a side hug to me kissing my forehead.

"I am all your's, no matter what happens," Ashu promised.
