Love that heals

Chapter 19 Shock to Rudrani

Rudrani:

Yesterday was the best day in my parental home until now. My dad treated me like his princess. I failed to form words to express my happiness in words. I turned and looked at my husband who was the reason behind this. I don't know whether I deserve his love or not but I understood Ashu is not what I thought about him on the day I met him for the first time. The first impression is the best, but I realized that we couldn't judge a person in the first meet. I dozed off thinking about my insecure relationship with my husband which I didn't want to break forever.

In the morning, I woke up listening to the melodious music sung by a cuckoo. I was habituated to wake up listening to its' music when I was in my home. I am crazy, but it's true that I missed it.

"Good morning, sweety. Have this coffee," said Ashu making me forget to take a breath for a minute.

He blinked his eyes teasing me for my expression. I took the coffee. I went to bathe and came back. I didn't find Ashu in the room. What is he doing and where is he?

I got ready and went on searching for my husband. The scene shocked me. I couldn't believe my eyes. Ashu was helping my mom in preparing breakfast. Isn't it a wonder to see son in law helping a mother in law in cooking? I haven't seen any son in law moving this close with his in-laws.

I was staring at Ashu and lost myself. I heard the sound that occurs from the snapping of fingers and came into this world. Ashu stood in front of me holding the plate of breakfast. He spooned the dish and fed me. I had it looking into his eyes. "I think we should go to our room because your mom and sister are observing us," Ashu whispered.

I composed myself and took the plate from his hand. We went into our room.

"Rudrani, you get ready and come to the living room. Meanwhile, I will talk to your parents and sister," Ashu left saying to me.

I completed my food and took my books to move. I went to the living room. I found Ashu and my dad discussing something important.

"Uncle, I am not at all angry with you. You are my wife's father, and I love and respect you. Education is not a problem if you want to earn and take up the responsibility of the family. I will help you in every way I can," Ashu assured to my dad. "No Ashu, I can't take help from you. Just take care of my daughter. She never got deserved love from her parents. I know she will be happy with you and you will give all the love she missed till now," my dad said.

"Sure uncle, I will erase all her nightmares with my love. I hope my love will heal her completely. Uncle, if you don't mind can you please tell me the details of that person who attacked our Rudrani with the acid?" Ashu asked. "I don't know. I never tried to understand or help Rudrani. I am the worst father."

"Uncle, I want his details. I want to know the status of the case." Ashu said.

I noticed anger in his eyes and Ashu clenching his fist. What does he want to know about the culprit? That person is roaming freely on the streets without any punishment. I am the victim, and I was the one who is bearing the punishment. "Why can't you ask Rudrani?" My father said.

"No, I can't ask her because I didn't want her to recall that incident. I can't see her getting upset," Ashu said and stopped in the mid as if he was thinking something.

My heart wanted to trust him though I tried my best to deviate it from getting affected by his words.

Ashu, is your love for me true? How can your love be fake when I am feeling it in your every act? I want to be with you lifelong, Ashu. Is it possible to be with you and feel happy in your love as long as I live? I closed my eyes and calmed my heart from becoming emotional.

I went to Ashu, and he dropped me at my college. I returned home by afternoon as we have revision classes and I completed the revision last night where my husband became my tutor. He has excellent teaching skills. Now, I am clear with many topics which were difficult for me.

I resumed my preparing taking rest for a while. Mom called me and informed me of the emergency in the hospital. No junior doctor was available, so I need to attend and assist the surgeon in the OT.

I went as soon as possible. It was a complicated heart surgery, but by God's grace we tried our best, and the patient survived.

I was about to leave the hospital, but I went to Ashu's cabin as I remembered that left my book there last week.

I saw my picture framed in his table. I blushed inwardly. He never misses the chance of making me special. The next moment the smile was replaced with a frown when I saw another picture hanging on the wall. All his friends were in that picture, and Artika was clinging onto him with her arms over his neck. I felt a pang of jealousy rising inside my heart.

I just wanted to leave from there. But immediately my eyes fell on a file that had Artika's name and was written confidential. Artika is herself a doctor then why is there a case sheet? Was she ill? I was confused, and with a lot of curiosity, I opened the file. I was beyond shocked seeing what was written!!

Maybe that's why Ashutosh has brought her to our home. Of course, it's his responsibility to take care of Artika during this period. I never expected this and cannot even imagine it.

"What are you doing here Rudrani?" I heard a serious masculine commanding voice making me drop the file right onto the floor.
