Chapter 11
Chapter 11: Returning to Hometown
While on the plane, Emma had roughly summarised the progress of the project. This time, she and Nina were mainly responsible for the work, while Emma served as the rear support and final review. The implication is very clear: let them do it o heir own this time, cach according to their own abilities, and compete fairly.
When she got out of the car and checked into the hotel, Nina held Serena’s arm and said with a smile: “Serena is from Boston, so she must be more familiar with this place than I am. In the next few days, please take care of our meals and transportation arrangements,.”
“Okay.” replied Serena as she accepted the job. How could she not understand that Nina was actually showing off her authority? The chores of ordering food and transportation directly defined her role on this business trip, and she was in charge of logistics. However, what Nina said was sincere. If she refused, it would appear that she was too fussy.
This business trip is only for one week, time is tight and the tasks are heavy
After they arrived at the hotel to rest for a while, they started working as planned without stopping. First, they went to the targeted company with Emma, met with the person in charge, and investigated the doubtful parts in the checklist.
Nina took the initiative to fight for the job of dealing with the target

company, and was mainly responsible for the reviewing of the target company’s business and contracts, while Serena was mainly responsible for the qualification review, business, taxation and checking the basic information.
On the surface, there seemed to be no difference between the work assignments of the two. They were both an important part of due diligence, but the real work belonged to Nina.
Emma was a workaholic, especially when she was on a business trip. She raced against time and never wasted a second. The three of them were busy returning to the hotel room from the targeted company until ten o’clock at night. Serena and Nina mainly focued on writing due diligence reports. Because of the few tasks Serena received and the experience in corporate legal affairs. Serena had her own set of logic and procedures in her mind when writing documents, and because of her rigorous style, every single punctuation mark was correct on the documents. Everything went smoothly, when handing it over to Emma, she nodded her head which was a rare sight.
“Okay, if you’re fine, go back to rest and get up early tomorrow” said Nino
“Noted.” Serena replied.
Serena saw that Emma’s computer was checking the information of Future Better Technology Company. Emma was lost in thought. She was only responsible for checking the food project, and she was only thinking about the merging and acquisition of Future Better Technology Company. Emma was working vigorously and confidently It was rare to see her at loss, which shows that the case of Future Better Technology Company was not easy to tackle.

Nina also sent the completed document to Emma. The moment Serena closed the door, as she expected, Emma’s angry voice came from the room, “How many times do I need to emphasise this question? Don’t download these documents from the Internet, don’t download from the Internet, are you out of your mind? Don’t waste our time by showing me this garbage all the time.”
Nina had an excellent attitude, admits mistakes and accepts criticism. Serena had no intention of helping Nina, since she took the job herself, she should also take responsibility for it.
It seemed that there is always endless rain in Boston, regardless of the season or time. It was already late autumn, and the pattering rain makes people feel down.
After coming out of Emma’s, Serena didn’t go back to her room, but walked aimlessly along the street outside the hotel. She hadn’t been back to this city for many years. When she came back, the rain, air and familiar feeling flowed into her mind. Unknowingly, she walked downstairs to her former home. Her house was facing the street, and when she was a child, she opened the window and could hear the bustling voices of the breakfast shop downstairs, or the noise of late- night supper.
