Love is Weakness. [1]

Chapter Crawl

Conan.

Three days passed. Three days of trying not to think about my Luna. Three days of burying myself in work. Our pack has had a detective agency for ages. It passed on from my grandpa to my father to me. Our scent and our exceptional hearing came in handy with this profession. Therefore we were succesful. I spend the last three days following a man. I never asked questions. The client asked for his routine, his connections and the women he slept with. So I did just that, eyeing him day in day out. Usually work was enough to keep me occupied. I liked to get close, playing a little mouse and cat game in my head. However I never came too close to get noticed. Since the distraction didn't work anymore I typed out everything I had discovered and email'd it to the client. Time to go home. I never liked to have Dunclan too long in charge, since things always seem to go more wrong instead of right.

Let's go see her. I want her.

One of the reasons why I couldn't forget her is because my wolf kept pacing back and forth in my head. He was heart broken over the fact that I decided not to have a Luna. I could always keep him at bay, but now we actually found her the wolf was restless. My decision has been made though. There won't be a Luna. Love is weakness. She isn't even a wolf so the reason I mated to her is beyond me.

When I come home there is a weird package with an unknown handwriting on my counter. When I open it a first edition of The Great Gatsby is inside of it. This must cost a fortune, who buys me such gift? Underneath the book there is a card with a wolf on top. When I open the card my eyes roam immediatly at the last line, with great thankness Anastacia. Above it there is a quote 'Let us learn to show our friendship for a man when he is alive and not after he is dead.' The moment I read it I start laughing. The humor that little jinx has. I close the card and look at the wolf on the front. Ofcourse she saw me in my wolf form when she woke up. I grab the book and sit down on the couch. The moment I want to open the first page several mindlinks cross my mind.

There is someone here! He's from another pack Duncan.

Unknown person, we need the Alpha! Lillian, my uncles Mate.

He is here. Kacey..

I know immediatly what she's talking about. Where is he I growl back in mindlink to her.

On your driveway.

When I open the door I see him standing there. Eadon smirks to me. He is about as tall as me with light blond hair and eyes as dark as night. Behind them there lingers a hunger, a hunger for power, a hunger for more. A hunger that is never satisfied. I cross my arms over against my chest.

'Do what do I owe this.. visit?' I let it out as a question but the tone in my voice clearly says it's a demand. Eadon throws his hands up and laughs 'Do I need a reason to visit one of the Moon Escapers?'

I walk closer to him, showing my teeth. I will not let him bring anyone in my pack at danger. We both know why he is here. He has made it no secret that he wants to become Alpha of my pack. It would break his Moon curse and that of his pack.

'I am not in the mood for your little games, Eadon. Tell me or leave my property. Have you forgotten that once you are here without permission I can shed you to pieces?' Eadons eyes turn dark at the direct thread. His ego was always the easiest way to get to him, ever since we were kids. Eadon and I grew up together. His parents were killed by another pack, so my dad took him in. Eadon was always more like my dad, therefore my dad loved him the most.

'I would watch your tone. Especially now you have something to lose. I simply came here to tell you in person that I know about your Luna.' Now it's my time for my eyes to darken. Stacia is nothing but an innocent human and I will not have danger brought upon her.

'You can leave now. I reject her as my Luna, as I said very clearly I. Do. Not. Need. A. Luna. Nor will I ever know one or care for one. You've wasted your energy coming here.' I turn around and walk back into the house.

Using my hearing I can hear Eadon's heartbeat at a fast pace. He did not like that answer. He probably thought I would have gone mad.

She is in danger, we need to get her. My wolf wimpers in pain at the underlaying thread Eadon spoke to me. Please, we need her. I need her, we will never forgive ourselfs if something happens. The more I would try to protect her, the more danger she would be in. I have to leave her alone so Eadon knows I have been truthful about my words. I didn't want her nor need her. He will leave her alone. I send Kacey a mindlink that everything is alright.

I am coming over she sends back. Great, now I got to face the elder again. Within minutes Kacey barges into my house.

'Some people knock or ring the bell first before they walk right in.' I say to her with a soft smile. I know she'd never do that, not unless I would order her to. My respect for her as an old friend from my mother stops me from it.

'What did he want?' She spits at me, more angry at Eadon then me.

'He wants my Luna. But I made clear that she is not nor will she ever be my Luna. He confused her for a weakness.' I answer her calmly. 'He won't bother us anymore. Atleast for now. The pack is safe.'

'You have been ignoring the fact that you need a Luna for so long, that you have also forgotten the rules that come along with them. Within days you will get sick, you need to be around your Luna every once in a while or you'll die. If your Luna dies your strength will weaken greatly. Both ways are bad news for you. You do need her, so you better start wanting her too.'

My breath stops. I will die without her? My wolf wimpers in pain inside my head. That's why he has been off the couple of past days. This is not what I want or need. A Luna complicates things. I had a good life now, a whole pack who stands by me unconditionally and even a human job, a company. Love sets you free. My mother's voice echoes in my head.

'What can I do to stop it? There must be a way that I can go on without her.' I ask Kacey in fear.

With each second that passes I see my future collaps.

'There is nothing you can do. You need to be with her, you need to protect her. And if you ask me, you could use a Luna to talk some sense into you.' Kacey's anger radiates off of her but I don't care right now.

'I am your Alpha and you will talk to me with respect!' I growl at her.

Kacey stands before me, looking up she looks me straight into my eyes. 'So fucking act like one.' My wolf growls to her in protection of his pride and his other half.

'Leave. Now.'

I don't wait to see if she leaves, I walk straight into the yard and let my wolf take over. What am I going to do now? She needs to get close every once in a while or I will die. I need to talk to the other elders, see if and how I can break the link.

Or you can accept her. She is so beautiful. My wolf howls.

I will never accept her, I will never let her become a weakness of me. I will not be like my father.
