Chapter 33. . Epilogue
I positioned myself behind Nathan and covered his eyes with my both hands. A fresh scent of peach and jasmine invaded my nostrils, that scent instantly made my mouth water and aroused me at the same time; I knew that was the perfume that for my whole life would make me fall in love with him a thousand times more, my love, my Mate.
“Peach and frangipani, my favorite scent, reminds me of someone special.”
“Who reminds you?” I asked him, whispering in his right ear.
“Reminds me of my beautiful Little Bird!” He put his hands on mine and I felt a lot of little electrical discharges erupt over my entire body. They were exciting, but at the same time they gave me peace of mind. I jumped at that strange sensation and Nathan was puzzled for a while, until he asked me: “Did you feel it too?”
“Feel what?”
“The sparks of the Mate bond?” What exactly was he asking me? I don’t know what it was, I had never experienced that feeling, but maybe that must have been a gift from the moon goddess. Thanks Selene! For a long time I had wanted to feel that feeling and it was finally happening. I nodded my head and smiled. He looked at me and studied for a long time; he touched my hair, then dropped the knuckles of his right hand to my cheek, looked me straight in the eye and said: “You are a beautiful vampire, Little Bird!”
“Don’t you think it’s better to change my nickname, since I’m an original vampire now ?!”
“No, to me you will always be my one and only rare Bird.” At that moment it was as if I had received the green light for anything, I could no longer stay away from the boy who had stolen my heart and I kissed him impetuously. He returned the kiss forcefully and suddenly picked me up, as he usually did.
“I can walk alone, I am no longer frail or sick, ...”
“I know, I can feel it, but I want to do it anyway. Will you let me do it?”
“I love you, my love!”
“This was exactly what I wanted to hear! I love you too, Little Bird!”
He had never climbed the stairs as fast as he did at that moment, he laid me down on the bed, sinking with his knees on the mattress. He looked at me hungry, studied me carefully, maybe he was looking for different details of the new me, but it didn’t last long, because he ate me deliciously and slowly. Every sensation I had experienced as a human was, in that moment, amplified. It was like making love for the first time, my whole body was excited by the myriad sparks electrocuting my skin. My body was on fire, a fire of lust that only Nathan and Falco could extinguish. I felt Nathan being more relaxed, if when I was human he always had to be in control so as not to hurt me with his supernatural strength, now that I was no longer a fragile being, he could let go and lose control without fear.
“Are you ready to be mine for eternity?”
“Yes, I’ve never been as ready as I am right now!”
“My wonderful mate!” Nathan said, although I was almost certain that at that juncture, it was Falco who was in command. While they fought for body dominance, I enjoyed every moment of their lust, their hunger for my body, their boundless love for me.
After sharing that unique moment with my love, I went to my parents to tell them about my visit to Olympus.
“Myra, my darling. You are ...” my mother said, gathering her hands on her chest just below her chin, her eyes shining and her voice broken with emotion. I nodded to tell her that her eyes were really seeing the new Myra, it wasn’t a dream.
“My little one, I was almost dead when I saw your lifeless body ... Then Ela told us what would happen and ... You are gorgeous!” My father told me, approaching me. He stroked my face then held me in his arms.
“How would I have done without my Teddy bear!” I said against his chest, letting him crush me for a while. I told them about my visit and stay in Olympus; I talked about what Selene had revealed to me and the future we would face.
From that moment on my life had changed, from all points of view. I had picked up the pace of my new life rather quickly, almost naturally; but sometimes I missed the human Myra, the pampered Myra, the fragile Myra who lived loved by her family, even though she wasn’t one of them. I had been very lucky to have had so many people who loved me for who I was: in my diversity, in my fragility. They had never made me feel out of their lives, out of their thoughts, out of their love for me.
School was over and everyone had returned to their worlds, their families, their destinies. That in one way or another, they were destined to cross forever. It had been difficult to let my friends go, but we promised to always talk and not to lose sight of each other. Despite the distance between us, I refused to accept the idea of not having them in my life. All had found their Mate, except Ela who had to wait a few more years for her. It was strange to already know that my first child would be her Mate. Ela, however, had decided to leave, with the promise to return when her Mate would be older. Sure she was sorry not to be part of our lives, but what she had in her heart was hers alone and if leaving was her choice, I could not help but let her go, even though I had promised my brother that I would take care of it.
During the summer we had explored the length and breadth of the forest of Mercadante, every corner had been discovered, even the smallest; my favorite though, was the one I thought I would never see. Hidden among dense larches was a lake that seemed to have the shape of a heart. Its emerald green waters were crystal clear, full of many varieties of fish. When Nathan first took me it was sunset, a natural spectacle that made me cry for how wonderful it was; I was crying because I was very happy to be able to see it with my own eyes. I asked Nathan to build our house right there, on the shores of that lake, which at sunset had stolen my soul.
So it was, after the three summer months, the house of my dreams was nothing but a wonderful reality.
“Don’t open your eyes, wait a second longer ...”
“But I have…”
“Sh, be patient, Little Bird. You won’t regret it”; he whispered in my ear. In the meantime he picked me up and sat me down on something soft.
“Nathan ...” I was too curious and the temptation to peek was very strong and when I was about to open my eyes, he spoke the long-awaited words: “Now you can open them!”
I was sitting on a sofa filled with colorful cushions, which was located on the back porch, where my second favorite view was. No one would ever get over the first one, because no one would be better than my adorable super sexy, Mate.
Everything was exactly as I had dreamed of it, sometimes you had to be satisfied with what you had, well that was not really the case to be satisfied, because my every wish, my every desire, everything had been fulfilled. In the garden there were many colorful wild flowers and plants, among which I could lie down whenever I wanted; fruit trees, including a peach tree; tables where a small fire could be lit in the center, a few benches near the shores of the lake.
Nathan lay down on the sofa next to me and rested his head on my legs, to admire together our first sunset in our new home; when he suddenly turned to my belly, to listen better. He had a surprised expression on his face, he had felt something that clearly escaped me. Then he looked at me with wide eyes, I did not understand what was happening, until he displaced me with a phrase that I never thought I’d hear leave his mouth, not at that moment at least: “We’re having a puppy!” What? Perhaps I did not understand well.
“What?” I asked in a faint voice, letting the news be encoded by my brain.
“I feel a little heartbeat and I can assure you it’s not yours.” I smiled through my teeth. I was the happiest woman in the world at that moment, I had a whole life ahead of me, a husband who loved me madly and now I would have a puppy to love, even though in my heart I knew of the destiny that this firstborn would have had. His place in the world was clear from the beginning, but his father and I, our families and the whole pack would have protected and helped him in every step, at any cost, because love conquers all.
