Chapter 24. Wedding day
I could say with absolute certainty that the three days of time had passed in a flash. I can’t tell you, however, if by luck or bad luck.
It was my wedding day and I was on my bed rubbing my eyes and stretching my bones; I had a beautiful day ahead of me.
As soon as I finished fixing my room, I got into my morning routine. Shortly after the hairdresser and the beautician arrived who had the task of making me: ‘the most beautiful bride that has ever existed’; these had been the exact words used by Nathan.
When the hairdresser and beautician left my room after the job was done, my mother came in to help me put on the wedding dress. It was a long white silk dress, with very thin straps, above to embellish the simple dress there was an embroidered white lace dress, which closed with a sparkling Swarovski brooch, exactly in the middle between the breast and the navel; leaving the silk dress uncovered on the front.
“I still can’t believe the dress fits you perfectly!”
“Not a single change, it’s gorgeous, Mom.” She hugged me from behind and whispered, leaning her cheek against mine: “The dress is just a dress, you are gorgeous, Myra!” Immediately afterwards we heard a knock: “Can we enter?” Andrea asked, coming out of the door.
“Of course yes, you can come!”
“I’m going to see how the preparations go. I love you, my darling.” My mother said kissing my temple before leaving the room.
“Aaaaaaaa ... how wonderful you are”; Abby yelled for joy as she walked over and put me into a hug.
“You are amazing and the dress looks enchanting!” Aurora said, looking at me from head to toe with a smile.
“Yeah, everything she said, wow!” Andrea said, pointing to Aurora and stroking my dress.
“I’m glad I gave you free choice on the bridesmaids dresses, you chose a wonderfully elegant and sexy one! You are beautiful.”
“This is my characteristic: “Sexy and beautiful always!” She spread her arms like a star and we all burst out laughing, her dominant characteristic was another in truth: “vanity ”.
“Girls, I would like to talk to my little girl”; my father said entering the room.
“Of course Alpha Nicola, we are going to prepare the last things.” Andrea said looking at the clock hanging on the wall, then she added: “It’s almost time for the celebration!”
“I propose a group hug girls!” Aurora exclaimed, approaching me and inviting the girls with her hand to come over in turn.
“I love you!” I told them, with the tangle of tears in my throat that I was holding back.
“We too!” They all answered in unison.
When they were leaving the room, Abby before closing the door, she advised: “Don’t cry, please!” I nodded in response and immediately was left alone with my father.
“Myra, I never thought you would get married before graduation. How I never thought that a damn monster would take you away before its time; yet here we are. Today we think about having fun and celebrating love, no bad thoughts, no tears. Just a lot of smiles, kisses and hugs. Mom told me there is a tradition: ‘Something old, something borrowed and something blue’. ”
“Let’s see: I have everything but something blue!”
“I have something special to give you ...“, he put his hand in the pocket of his suit and came out with a blue bracelet with platelets. As soon as I understood what it was I put my hand over my mouth in amazement. The only thing I could think was: ‘How the hell can I not cry now?’
“Myra, when you were born, Val saw you as his wonderful puppy to defend. He was so happy to have you that he never left you alone. I know you had a deep connection so, since he won’t be physically there today, I thought you might wear this. It was his favorite. ”
“Dad, I miss him so much!” I cried throwing myself into his arms, hell the makeup.
“I know my darling, I miss him so much too.” My father said, holding me tightly in his arms, at that moment that was my safe haven.
While he tied the bracelet to my ankle I said: “I don’t know if he would be happy if I had this?!”
“Trust me, it would be! He loved you so much, in his way, but I’m sure he would have done anything for you! ”
“He did the most… he had to let me die, dad. It’s not fair, he was stupid.”
“Myra, the unfair one now is you! He did what his heart told him to do at that moment. That’s why I tell you that he would have done anything for you. He sacrificed his life for yours. Even if it will be short, you have to take advantage of the time you have left. ”
“I’ll do it, I’m already doing it, one day at a time ...”
“Perfect, like you, my little one!” My father said as he finished fastening the bracelet to my ankle.
Suddenly we heard a knock on the door.
“Time to go out, Myra. Are you ready?” my mother asked, entering my room and as soon as she looked at me, she scolded my father: “Oh no, what did you do, Nicola?!” Abby came in to check that I was ready and said: “Okay, I expected it! Now everyone outside I will take care of it, I need ten minutes!”
My parents left the room and Abby took her bag to fix the mess I had made by crying.
“Sit down, I have a lot of work to do with very little time!”
Exactly ten minutes later: “That’s it, you’re ready! I’ll wait outside, I’ll give you a minute alone. Don’t cry, please.” She advised me before closing the door to my room.
I was left alone in my room, in front of the mirror I looked at my reflection and I thought: “Live one moment at a time and everything will last longer!” I wanted time to stop on that day. I just wanted to live and love, after all I didn’t seem to ask for impossible things. Compared to the others, I only had a very short expiration date, but that wasn’t going to stop my wanting to get what I wanted, the way I wanted it. What did I want at that moment? I wanted to see, kiss, breathe, hug and marry my “Beautiful and Damned” Mate. Many people accuse them of having a last-minute crisis, where they wonder if they are doing the right thing, but I was very sure and couldn’t wait to experience what was waiting for me outside the door. I left my room and smiling I grabbed my father’s arm who asked me: “Are you ready, sweetie?”
“I’m more than ready, dad!” It was the truth, I was looking forward to seeing Nathan.
Arriving on the porch of the castle, the wedding march began to play, warning all present of the imminent arrival of the bride. The garden was filled with pink and white flowers in transparent pots, a long pink carpet marking the way to Nathan.
They all stood up, while I walked arm in arm to my father, along the corridor of white chairs where the guests were. Although there were so many people, so many decorations, the only thing my eyes could see was the boy in front of me: my “Beautiful and damned”. Nathan was in his elegant black suit, with his Adonis physique, his magnetic gaze, but the thing I loved most of all was his smile that made my heart melt.
When we got close to Nathan, my father shook his hand and after giving me a kiss on the forehead, he joined my mother in the place assigned to them.
“You’re breathtaking, Little Bird!” He said looking me straight in the eye, just before kissing me on the forehead. I smiled, blushing, without saying a word, took his hand and we went to take our places at the two stools placed under the wonderful arch of white and pink flowers.
“We are gathered here today...“; with these words the officiant began the rite of our marriage; like so many others for him, but unique for us. I was so excited that I was afraid of not being able to speak, luckily Nathan spoke first.
“I, Nathan Johnson, welcome you, Myra Harrow, as my bride. Here, in front of all the Redsky pack and all our friends, I promise to always be faithful to you, in joy and pain, in health and in sickness, and to love and to cherish you every day of my life. ” While Nathan spoke those words I was lost in his loving gaze and hung from his lips.
With my heart pounding in my chest I took my vows.
“I Myra Harrow, welcome you, Nathan Johnson, as my husband. Here, in front of all the Redsky pack and all our friends, I promise to always be faithful to you, in joy and pain, in health and in sickness, and to love and to cherish you every day of my life.”
The officiant invited Walter to bring the wedding rings closer, because it was time to use them.
Nathan took mine, kissed it and put it on the ring finger of my left hand. Later I did the same with him, when I placed the ring on his finger, the officiant pronounced the final sentence: “I declare you husband and wife, Nathan now you can kiss your bride.”
The smile that lit up on our faces was more radiant than the sun, the happiness in our eyes was immeasurable, our love was infinite. When our lips joined in the kiss, which sealed our promises and eternal love, the whole world disappeared again. That kiss was our moment of eternity.
