Chapter 448: I am Solomon's mother
Day 2.
Early in the morning, Solomon went to school and Eloise went straight to the office.
Eloise is only halfway through a pile of papers on her desk, and her eyes are a little bleary from reading them, so she gets up and looks out of the window. The phone rang at that moment.
When Eloise saw the caller ID, she was immediately refreshed and her tiredness was gone.
"Hector," she shouted happily.
Hector is not back yet, but calls back every day.
Hector chuckled lowly over there, "Where?"
"Company, read the papers." Eloise's ears were crispy and motherly, suspecting that they were going to be pregnant.
Hector's laughter could make her blush, it was hopeless, Eloise thought, rubbing her ears in embarrassment.
"Very impressive." Hector complimented her.
Eloise immediately puffed up her chest and said proudly, "Of course, that's who I am."
Completely forgetting that she was tortured to death by the paperwork.
Hector, over there, couldn't help the corner of his mouth from rising as his mind almost immediately went to Eloise's smug look.
"How are you doing over there, when are you coming back?" Eloise asked, speaking up.
It was clear that she had asked this question only yesterday on the phone and she knew it, but she couldn't help it.
Hector didn't mind her and patiently repeated it over and over again.
At the end of the day, it seemed that someone on Hector's end was looking for him and had to hang up the phone.
Eloise's mood drops for a second and she holds the phone with reluctance.
"Good girl, hang up now and I'll call you tonight."
Eloise gripped her slightly hot phone with some frustration.
Ugh, how did she become like this.
It's all Hector's fault, he's the reason for his daily distraction.
Ding-dong, a message comes in.
Eloise looked down, her depression gone, and the corners of her lips couldn't help but curl up.
"Miss you." It was a message from Hector.
Eloise feels energised and ready for another few hours of battle.
...
Mrs Matriarch carried her designer bag and headed out the door.
She met up with her best friend today and went shopping together. The two old ladies fought as hard as ever and swept through half the mall. During the interval, my best friend went to the bathroom.
Mrs Matriarch was sitting in the lounge area waiting for her when, suddenly, a man sat down next to her.
It was a very young woman, stylishly dressed and quite good looking, attractive, and out of courtesy Mrs Matriarch took one look and averted her eyes.
Instead, the woman spoke up, "Are you Mrs. Ken?"
Mrs Matriarch looked at her in surprise that this woman had called her name with such precision, "I am, may I ask you?"
"I'm Solomon's mother." The woman said with some excitement.
Mrs Matriarch stared at the woman, a good-looking woman, but she didn't look crazy.
Seeming to see what Mrs Matriarch was thinking, the woman hastened to say, "I am Solomon's real mother, my name is Juana Hipolito, Auntie, I have really missed Solomon all these years."
Mrs Matriarch was surprisingly calm, she didn't contradict Juana, but she didn't believe her either, she just said, "There are too many people who want to mother our Solomon, but he already has a mother." Juana said with some urgency, "No, that's not true, I'm Solomon's real mother, he was born on the 7th of August, the birth hospital was Maria Hospital, that's where I, back then, had my maternity check-up." Hearing her say something so specific, Mrs Matriarch hesitated a little.
There has always been a mystery about Solomon's birth, his birthday, which even they don't know.
Only because back then, Solomon was wrapped in a small blanket and left on the doorstep.
No one saw who put it there, much less Solomon's own mother.
Even Solomon's origins were determined only after he went for a DNA test.
After establishing Solomon's identity, the Rogers family initially made a big effort to find Solomon's real mother, only to no avail.
Some people lusted after the wealth of the Rogers family and ran to impersonate them, and they were all eventually found out.
Hector also had a fit and advised them to stop tossing and turning.
Mrs Matriarch, however, was distraught for her grandson and wanted to find his mother, whether she wanted to come to the Rogers family or not, and they thanked her, but, alas, never did.
Gradually, the Rogers family gave up and just assumed that Solomon's mother, either without incident or else, would not show her face.
With Eloise, she is extremely patient with Solomon and treats him as if he were her own child.
Solomon's own mother, even more so, no one will mention.
Mrs Matriarch thought back on these events and looked at Juana with a more stern look in her eyes.
Little did I know that after all these years, there would still be people who would not give up and try to get their hands on the money, through Solomon.
Juana seemed not to see the look in Mrs Matriarch's eyes, still rambling on, "You are a mother too, you should know what it is like to be a mother, do you want to hear about my pregnancy with Solomon?"
When Mrs Matriarch didn't say anything, Juana spoke for herself.
"I was a bit scared when I first got pregnant with Solomon because I was still very young and I was, by now, not even thirty. I admit that I almost aborted Solomon at the time because I was afraid that I couldn't afford to keep him." Mrs Matriarch did not move, but her eyes were stern.
Juana kept her head down, as if she was afraid to meet her eyes.
"I went to the hospital for a consultation and the doctor asked me if I was sure I wanted to abort it, it was a life, I hesitated, yes it was a life, it was my child, he had a right to be in the world, I couldn't deny him the right to be born." Juana recounts slowly.
"I decided to have the baby because I wasn't in a very good position and I still needed to go to work and I was very tired from the work I was doing. solomon felt it too and was fussy all the time. for the first three months I couldn't eat anything and it was such a hard feeling, but as soon as I thought about the baby in my belly I thought, I can still make it."
"Ten months was very difficult because I was having some conflicts with my family again and my parents didn't understand me, so I gritted my teeth and carried on alone. Every day I held on by talking to the baby in my belly, I always thought, if I hold on a little longer, I'll make it."
Juana had a dreamy smile on her face, "It's strange, obviously he has to rely on me, but I feel that he is the one who is supporting me. Auntie, you must have felt the same way when you were pregnant, didn't you?"
Mrs Matriarch gave a vague hmph and Juana, unfazed, continued, "And so, ten months finally passed and I thought about the baby coming out. My heart was so happy and I thought every day about what he would look like, whether he would look like me or not, but whether he looked like me or not, I would love and love him very much."
"The labour was really painful, I was in pain for two days and nights, I'm not going to lie, I was crying, I thought I was looking for pain, the doctors kept encouraging me and eventually, I got the baby."
