Chapter 100: Should I continue to like him?
While Reeva Lawson and Esme Lawson were talking, Matriarch Godbold walked by. Seeing the glint of sadness in Reeva Lawson's eyes, she patted her hand as a comfort.
Matriarch Godbold watched the backs of Eloise Thompson and Hector Rogers as they left, and there was something deep in her eyes.
After the car had disappeared, there was a pause and Matriarch Godbold spoke with a smile, "Reeva, come on! Auntie will drop you off on the way back."
Reeva Lawson smiled and didn't refuse.
"Thank you, Auntie."
Reeva Lawson's eyes lowered, her emotions calmed down a little, so what if Hector Rogers liked Eloise Thompson, as long as Matriarch Godbold and Fletcher Rogers didn't agree, as long as they were on her side, she had a good chance of winning.
With that thought, Reeva Lawson smiled and left with Matriarch Godbold and the others.
...
Here, after dropping Eloise Thompson off downstairs, Hector Rogers said, "Get some rest, don't go to work tonight, and call me if you need anything."
"Well, I know, thanks for driving me back."
Eloise Thompson nodded, thanked him and then went back upstairs.
...
Not long after Hector Rogers arrived at the company Rupert Rogers also arrived.
Inside the office, all that could be heard was his low voice speaking up and asking, "How's the matter you were asked to look into last night?"
"Brother, you were so right in guessing that Esme Lawson did lie."
Hector Rogers looked slightly startled, and his expression wasn't very surprised.
After all, it was obvious from last night that Esme Lawson was acting as if nothing was wrong, but Hector Rogers sensed it and she was nervous, so after walking out he sent Rupert Rogers to check it out.
As it happens, she had nothing to do with it.
Rupert Rogers continued, "I checked, her so-called sister, in fact, already has a favorite, not that Gordon Basil last night, I watched the surveillance, last night she did approach Gordon Basil in front of the bathroom, when the two Lawson family sisters were standing on the third floor of the deck The two Lawson family sisters were standing on deck three watching their sister-in-law, and this Gordon Basil was obviously the one Esme Lawson called to see her."
At that, Hector Rogers pursed his lips and asked, "Did Reeva Lawson have anything to do with this?"
"I don't know about that, but more or less I do! What do we do now, brother? Are we just going to let Esme Lawson go?"
It was impossible to deal with the Lawson family, and after a moment's reflection, Hector Rogers said, "A little girl with a heart of gold, that'll teach you a lesson! I'll leave it up to you, and keep an eye on her so she doesn't make another move on Eloise Thompson."
"I know, brother." Rupert Rogers nodded, the topic ended, he looked at his brother again ambiguously and spoke, "Brother, you and sister-in-law last night... how far did you go? No, I said you can't have sex in front of Solomon! Remember to leave Solomon in my care in advance in the future."
Hector Rogers looked at him breathlessly and spoke faintly, "She had a fever last night and I was in my room taking care of it."
"And it's gone?"
"Or what?"
Rupert Rogers: "..."
So they all wanted to come more! But it was hard not to think about that scene this morning, and remembering Matriarch Godbold's words this morning, Rupert Rogers couldn't help but say, "By the way, brother, Mum and Dad don't seem to approve of you and your sister-in-law being together!"
Hector Rogers lowered his eyes and pursed his lips, "I'll find a way to get them to agree."
After thinking about it, Rupert Rogers instantly felt worried, his brother really wanted to be with his sister-in-law, and who could stop it! Now it was just a matter of whether his sister-in-law wanted to or not.
...
Eloise Thompson is almost well enough after some rest at home.
When she went down there, she was bored at home and visited her mother in hospital.
On the hospital bed, Maryam Khan was still lying there quietly, and Eloise Thompson's eyes flickered slightly as she held her hand and spoke, "Mum, when the hell are you going to wake up!"
"Mum, you know what? So much happened last night, I almost died and he saved me, he saved me again..."
The last time was at a Lawson family party and for a few short weeks Eloise Thompson was on the verge of death and he saved her twice in time.
Eloise Thompson sighed, "Mom, I really seem to like him ..."
But it's so hard for them to be together.
Holding Maryam Khan's hand, Eloise Thompson's eyes lowered in confusion as she spoke, "Mum, what should I do?"
Should she continue to like him?
...
Later in the evening, Eloise Thompson returned home from the hospital, where she had picked up a lot of groceries on the way, expecting the two to come over, but to her surprise, the little one did not. Solomon didn't show up, and naturally Hector Rogers didn't either.
Somehow, Eloise Thompson was a little lost inside.
After a pause she thought she was too funny too, thinking about getting away from them while she couldn't stop looking forward to it.
Eloise Thompson didn't think much more of it and cooked herself some random food.
Just after the meal, she received a call from Hector Rogers, with the man's low, magnetic voice on the other end.
"I have some social engagements tonight and I can't take Solomon over."
"Yeah, got it." Eloise Thompson spoke in response.
"Is there anything uncomfortable about your health? Any more fever?"
His words of condolence came and Eloise Thompson felt agnes ground in her heart, but was afraid to expect too much.
"No, it's all pretty much healed up, don't worry!"
At the moment Hector Rogers was standing in the doorway of the booth, his expression turned soft as he listened to Eloise Thompson's voice, he pursed his lips and spoke in response, "That's good, take care of yourself and get some rest." "Well, so are you."
After hanging up the phone, Eloise Thompson sighed, her heart once again in a tangle.
A scene from the party still seems to come to mind, the way he jumped into the sea to save himself, the way he looked after himself all night... Eloise Thompson's heart was touched, yet Fletcher Rogers' words kept echoing in her ears. Those words were like telling her again to recognise reality.
Eloise Thompson forced herself to stop thinking about it and just go with the flow.
Not long after lying in bed, she fell asleep.
...
The following day, Eloise Thompson arrived at work as normal. The morning passed quickly in the midst of the rush and she was about to go to lunch with her colleagues when her mobile phone rang at her side, an unfamiliar number flashing at the top of the screen.
Eloise Thompson picked up the phone and a female voice came on the other end, "Hello, is this Miss Eloise?"
Eloise Thompson gave a slight pause and spoke in a quizzical tone, "Auntie Matriarch?"
Although she had only met Matriarch Godbold a few times, Eloise Thompson could hear her voice.
"It's me, Miss Eloise, I'm near your office, do you have time to meet up now?"
Eloise Thompson had already guessed what Matriarch Godbold wanted from her, and she didn't refuse, asking where Matriarch Godbold would meet.
