Love Began with the First Meeting

As much as he wanted to tell the story, on second thoughts, Daniel decided to cut whatever he wanted to say. Seeing that Brian seemed to understand the situation though he hadn't fully revealed what it was, he scratched his head. "You asshole..." Edgar said, not knowing whether he should laugh or cry. "You're afraid of the normal tedious procedures, so you're expecting your brother-in-law to simplify the process for you. Right?"

Since it was a special place, ordinary people were not allowed to enter. However, Daniel and Cathy hoped that their wedding would take place here for their own reasons. In such a case, even Cathy's mother had to apply to enter the place, just as the rules required, if she were to attend her daughter's wedding. The process was not only troublesome but also an absolutely tedious one.

Daniel had not submitted the application until then. Edgar had guessed that he was looking forward to solve the problem with the help of Brian. If Brian agreed to guarantee for Cathy's mother, all the procedures could be bypassed.

With a faint smile, Brian said, "Cathy is almost my younger sister. I'm happy to see the two of you be together and get married, and I believe everybody else should be happy too. Of course, her mother should attend your wedding." In between these words was the confirmation that he had agreed to give them a hand. As soon as he heard Brian's words, Daniel couldn't help but beam.

At first, he thought of going through the normal procedures, but after learning all the process they had to go through, he began wanting his brother-in-law to intervene and help them with the matter. That morning, Edgar had told him that he had to submit their application for marriage in a couple of days, because their superior leader for examining and approving related matters would go abroad to investigate a case and that would take a long period of time. If he failed to submit the application before the leader left, they would have to wait for another year. Therefore, he had no choice but to ask his brother-in-law to solve the problem concerning Cathy's mother for him.

Since it was not easy for his elder sister and brother-in-law to take a trip there, he didn't want them to leave immediately after sighing their names on the needed documents. That afternoon, the wedding between Daniel and Cathy had been discussed. They wanted to hold their wedding right away, as Molly and Brian were still here. As for Cathy's mother, she would not have any problem in coming here as long as Brian gave them a hand.

They chatted casually, talking and laughing. Gradually, hurried footsteps came through.

"Excuse me!" a clear, and evidently excited voice, came through.

All the people in the room turned their heads towards the direction of the voice. There was Cathy, who was in an informal military uniform, at the door. After Edgar said "come in", she strode towards his desk, handing the documents in her hand to him. "The registration of the special program has been approved. The chief told me to tell you that the exercise department requires us to annihilate all the Blue Force with only one third of our forces..." she reported.

"What?" Hearing that, Daniel opened his eyes wide. "Is the exercise department crazy?" he mumbled.

After taking a sideways glance at Daniel, Edgar asked him in an indifferent tone, "What's going on? Are you scared of Blade Commando?"

Daniel bellowed, his laughter shallow and fake. "Are you kidding? If I could capture them once, I could capture them again. Besides, this time we can make use of Cathy's new invention, wireless heat flow exploration. Of course we will beat them!"

Hearing that, Edgar smiled and said, "That would be great..." Then he shifted the topic of conversation. "Well, let's talk about the exercise later," he said while opening a drawer and taking out two marriage application forms. "Fill them up as soon as possible. I know clearly how eager the two of you want to get married."

Both Cathy and Daniel blushed upon hearing that. Comparing them both, though, Daniel was less shy and had a thick hide as a man. Because of that, he took over both forms and said, "I'll fill both of them..."

Cathy glared at Daniel. It was not until then that she greeted Brian and Molly with a smile on her face, "Brother Brian, Sister Molly..." Then she held Evelyn in her arms and gave her a kiss on her little cheek. "The little baby has grown a lot... Aunt Cathy is going to take you around and make you taste the most delicious meatballs in our dining hall. Is that okay?"

As soon as she heard Cathy mention the meatballs, Evelyn's eyes widened.

The marriage application forms were filled in while everybody in the room was talking and laughing. The meeting lifted everyone's mood, and tightened their bond as family. The reason why Edgar had urged Daniel to submit their marriage application was because Brian had made a call to him.

In consideration to the friendship between Richie and the God of Gamblers, Brian didn't want to deal with Cora so cruelly. Despite Cora being as clever as she was, she had been a vegetable for too long a time. After waking up, she was dissatisfied that she had wasted too many years lying in bed. As a result, she trapped herself in the past. When she figured it out, she would remember how proud she had been. Brian believed that.

He knew that Daniel was afraid that Molly might not have time to attend their wedding if they held it later. Besides, both he and Cathy were busy working, so he made sure to take this chance to hold their wedding. Because of the schedule of the wedding, their family would stay at the military region for some more time, so that he could escape from Cora. Meanwhile, they would spend several days leisurely, as if they were just on a holiday. That would be nice for the family.

After signing his name on the two marriage application forms, Edgar called his secretary and said, "Send these two forms to the chief of the military region. Wait there until he signs his name on them, in case that he leaves early without signing."

"Yes, sir!" the secretary answered with a salute and then left.

"Let's go to have dinner," Edgar said, standing up.

All of them walked out of Edgar's office, and headed straight to the dining hall. Edgar had asked the cooking team to prepare a special menu for dinner that day. It was also the first time Charlie and Evelyn went there. After learning from Cathy that Evelyn liked eating very much, he wanted the team to try their best to make the twins like being there.

And the reason for that was because the Long Family had great influence. If he was able to make a member of the Long Family stay here, it would be to the benefit of the country. They would gain a powerful ally, and the coastal regions near Dragon Island would develop rapidly.

Holding an important position in the country, Dragon Empire Group drew much attention from the leaders of the country. Although it might be too optimistic for him to achieve his aim by one meal, he wanted to give it a try.

Of course, Edgar didn't blurt this out and only had it in his mind. He would not really depend on food. After all, the Long Family held such a powerful position. Evelyn could get whatever she wanted to eat. For example, if Evelyn liked the food here, Edgar believed that Brian would be sure to take the cook away with them for his daughter. If that happened, Edgar would not win anything but lose something. That would be a shame on him.

"Yummy..." Evelyn said while stuffing her mouth and nodding every now and again. Then she looked at Brian with her eyes filled with expectation. "Dad, how about taking the cook home with us?" she asked.

Hearing that, Edgar nearly choked. In astonishment, he looked at Evelyn and then at Brian. Without waiting for Brian's answer, he swallowed the food in a hurry and said, "Mr. Brian Long, you shouldn't do such a thing. That would be just like pulling the rug from under my feet. Right?"

Edgar would not allow that to happen. He had made tremendous efforts to get the cook by fighting against the reconnaissance company. How could he let him go so easily? The idea of Brian taking the cook away was only an idea in his mind, he hadn't really expected that Evelyn would really make such a comment. He would not let the cook go.

Brian looked at Edgar with his deep-set eyes. Seeing the frustrated look on his face, Brian roughly knew what he was thinking about. He had been dealing with all kinds of people for so many years.
