Chapter 6

At that moment, Brittany, who was at a spa, hung up after talking to her mother. She immediately thought of contacting Belen.

They had teamed up years ago to cause Eileen’s downfall and her subsequent expulsion from the family home. Now, Brittany and Belen had become good friends, but Belen had been less in touch in the past two weeks, and her store was even closed. Brittany wondered what she was up to.

Belen answered the phone. “Hey, Brittany.”

“Belen, what’ve you been up to lately? Why is your store closed?”

“Oh! I… I’m on vacation! You need something?”

“Belen, I have some bad news. Eileen is back.”

In a luxurious villa, Belen, lounging on a sofa being attended to by se rvants, was so startled by the news that her phone dropped onto the sofa. She quickly picked it up, gasping for air, and asked nervously, “When did she come back? Why is she back?”

“Why are you so nervous? Are you still afraid of her?”

“No, I was just asking.”

“My dad told me. I don’t know what she’s doing, but she’s back now, and she might be after our family assets. She might also cause you trouble.”

A malicious glint passed through Belen’s eyes as she wondered, ‘Why couldn’t Eileen have just died abroad? Then I wouldn’t have to be so fearful and anxious.

Everything she was enjoying now was thanks to Eileen. The truth behind that night’s incident was known only to her, and she couldn’t let Winston find out.

“Brittany, I’m also afraid she’ll seek revenge. Keep me posted about her, okay? So I can be prepared,” Belen requested.

“Sure, we’ll deal with her together.” Brittany agreed that it was a good idea.

After hanging up, Belen bit her l*p. She was living like the rich now, enjoying the best of everything, all provided by Winston as compensation. But she was more ambitious. than that. She wanted more than just material compensation-she wanted to be his

wife.

Being with a man like Winston, who was quite the catch, would be the happiest thing for her in the world.

She wouldn’t let Eileen ruin her plans.

Even Brittany couldn’t find out about it, as she might get jealous and expose her.

Belen knew that she had to keep close tabs on Eileen. She thought, “Perhaps it’s time to make her disappear from this world altogether.”

At 5 o’clock, Eileen arrived on time at kindergarten to pick up her son, who happily ran towards her after saying goodbye to his teacher.

“Mommy!”

“Did you

have fun at school today?”

“Of course! The teacher likes me, and so do my classmates,” the little guy reported with. joy.

“How about we have spaghetti for dinner tonight?”

“Yay!”

Eileen was fortunate to have an angelic child who had been easy to raise from the start. He wasn’t picky about food, had a good temperament, and was a warm-hearted little boy.

After shopping and returning home, the little guy played with Legos while Eileen prepared their meal. Their cozy apartment was filled with warmth and love.

“Mommy, did work go smoothly today?” the little guy asked caringly.

“Yes.” Eileen smiled, never complaining about life or work in front of her son. Even if her life was hard, her son’s sweet smile could heal all her unhappiness.

“In a couple of days, I’ll take you to see Grandpa, okay?” Eileen asked her son, Sean Norman.

“Okay, I want to see Grandpa too,” Sean replied, blinking his big eyes expectantly.

Eileen’s feelings were mixed, knowing that Caitlyn and Brittany wouldn’t welcome her

son.

She wouldn’t let Brittany know that her son was the result of that incident five years. ago. She planned to tell her father that the child was born out of love with a man she cared for.

At night, Eileen hugged her son as they slept, the moonlight streaming through the window, the mother and son drifting off into dreamland together.

In the morning….

After dropping off her son, she took a taxi to the office. Treasure Studio was located in an eight-story building in the city center, modestly nestled among towering

skyscrapers.

The brand had made a name for itself in the country, and now that it had been acquired by QR, its market value had risen even further. In a month, Treasure Studio was invited to participate in a domestic jewelry show.

Eileen had several series selected for the competition, a strategy to enhance the brand’s influence.

She got out of the taxi, a bit late after buying breakfast. Munching on her bread, she paid the fare and hurried towards the lobby.

With her son starting school at 8:30 and her own work beginning at 9, she was in a bit

of a rush.

At the elevator entrance…

She tried to finish her breakfast before entering the office to avoid making a bad impression. Just as she stuffed the last big bite of bread into her mouth, her cheeks puffing as she chewed, the elevator doors opened, revealing a strikingly handsome and mature figure standing before her.

Eileen froze for a few seconds, struggling to swallow the bread in her mouth, and walked into the elevator trying to maintain her grace.

“Good morning!” Winston’s deep, magnetic voice greeted her.

“Morning!” Eileen responded, only to be startled by a sudden, loud burp that escaped

her.

“Burp!” It was quite loud.

Eileen’s face turned beet red in embarrassment. It was just mortifying!

To her dismay, the elevator was lined with mirrors, leaving nowhere to hide her awkward condition. She covered her mouth, but she was unable to resist her b*dy’s protest against eating too quickly, and another inelegant burp followed.

Winston’s deep gaze, reflected in the mirror, fell on her flushed face, enduring his “observation” with thick skin..

Finally, on the sixth floor, as soon as the elevator doors opened, Eileen squeezed out, utterly embarrassed.

eves.

This girl was unexpectedly interesting.

Back in her office, Eileen quickly drank some water to settle down her burps, but that embarrassing moment couldn’t be undone.

It wouldn’t have been so awkward with someone else, but it had to be Winston.

He had to be laughing at her now.

At 10:30…

“Eileen, it’s time for the department meeting.”

Eileen acknowledged. “Got it.”

In the conference room….

Chief Designer Isabela Benjamin sat on one side of the meeting room, overseeing her team, which included eight designers, one of whom was Eileen.

“Wait a moment, Mr. Nielsen will be joining us shortly.” Isabela took a sip of water, her shoulders tensing with a bit of nervousness.

Who would have thought that the head boss himself would attend a department meeting? This added quite a bit of pressure on her.

“Eileen, did you know Mr. Nielsen before?” Dalia eyed Eileen with a meaningful look. Eileen flatly denied it. “No.”

“Then why was Mr. Nielsen staring at you all through yesterday’s meeting?” another female designer asked discontentedly.

“That’s a question that you should ask Mr. Nielsen.” Eileen elegantly deflected the query.

“Work is work. This company is not a place for romance or shortcuts. You all remember that.” Isabela warned her subordinates sternly.

Dalia cast a glance at Eileen, thinking of her as someone trying to charm her way up the ladder by seducing Winston.

Just then, the office door opened, and a figure of commanding presence stepped in.

man was enough to understand how unfair the world could be.

He was endowed with immense wealth, a frustratingly handsome face, a b*dy as perfect as the Greek g od Apollo, the elegance of a prince, and the commanding aura of a king.

His mere existence seemed designed to make women admire and adore him.

Even Isabela quickly adjusted her hair, exuding a feminine charm. Though she was 35, she still harbored dreams of being the wife of a rich man.

“Let’s start.” Winston’s deep, mesmerizing voice crisply broke the silence.
