Chapter 13

Chapter 13

Belen picked up her phone and dialed Winston’s number.

“Hello, does it still hurt?”

“Winston, I want to go to a jewelry banquet. Can you take me?” Belen asked pleadingly.

“What jewelry banquet?”

“I’ll send you a video.” After hanging up, she promptly sent the video over and soon received a message back.

[Okay, I’ll take you.] His response was brief.

Belen was so thrilled that she broke out into a grin, but it accidentally tugged at her swollen face, causing her to hiss in pain before cursing again, “Eileen, you wretch! You’re a jewelry designer, aren’t you? But you can’t even get into this top-tier jewelry banquet.”

Eileen was also in her office, watching the video of the jewelry event. She knew that to attend such an occasion, appropriate attire was a must, or else she’d be subject to ridicule.

She worriedly thought, ‘Where can I get an evening gown worth millions that I can afford to rent? What am I going to do?”

As she pondered her outfit for Saturday, her phone rang with an unknown number calling. She picked it up. “Hello?”

“Hello, is this Miss Eileen Norman? I’m the manager of Fashion Store. A client has reserved an evening gown for you at our store. Are you available to come and try it on this afternoon?”

“For me?” Eileen was stunned but then realized that it had to be Mathew.

“Okay, I’ll come by in a bit.”

‘He really thought of everything,’ she thought as she sent a grateful emoji to him. [Thank you, Mathew.]

[Don’t mention it, enjoy yourself!] Mathew replied, along with a big smiling face.

Eileen took an hour off in the afternoon, realizing that the Fashion Store was nearby.

FH was an international brand known for its evening gowns, frequented by the elite.

Upon entering the store, the owner personally greeted her. “Ms. Norman, this way.”

Eileen followed her upstairs to the VIP room, where a model displayed a serene and beautiful evening gown.

“How beautiful, Eileen thought to herself in admiration.

The store owner pointed to the gown on the model and said, “This evening dress was prepared by Mr. Olson for you. Do you like it?”

Eileen was slightly taken aback. ‘How wealthy is Mathew to prepare such an expensive dress for me?”

“This is a unique piece crafted by our top designer, adorned with 8,000 diamonds embedded in high-quality brocade fabric. It’s priced at 1.6 million in our store,” the manager explained with a smile.

Eileen’s heart sk ipped a beat when she heard that. Was Mathew trying to scare her? An evening gown this expensive, if she accidentally lost even a single diamond, she couldn’t afford to pay for it.

“Do you

have any other gowns to recommend?” Eileen felt that this one was too much for her to handle.

“Mr. Olson has already paid for this dress for you, and I think it suits you perfectly.” The manager complimented her. Eileen’s natural beauty couldn’t be hidden even in her regular outfit.

Aside from its exorbitant price, Eileen really liked the dress.

“Alright, I’ll try it on.” She decided not to fuss about it. She could always treat Mathew to a year’s worth of meals in return.

She didn’t want to miss this top-tier private jewelry banquet.

She tried on the evening gown, and it fit her perfectly. She was told to return by 4 o’clock the next day, when the store would take care of her makeup, hairstyle, and even the matching jewelry.

That evening, Eileen discussed with her son, Sean, about attending the jewelry exhibition, asking whether he preferred his grandpa or Jenna for company. Naturally, Sean chose his grandfather.

Eileen called to ask her father about his schedule. Tyree, of course, agreed. He would take the little guy out for a meal tomorrow and spend the evening with him.

After arranging the evening for her son, Eileen felt relieved.

Saturday morning arrived.

Eileen spent the morning shopping at a mall with Sean, buying groceries and snacks. Once back at home, she worked on her designs while Sean played with his Legos beside her. Occasionally, a breeze wafted through the window, lifting the snow-white curtains and creating a serene and pleasant atmosphere.

At half-past 3, Tyree arrived with fruits and milk. Eileen handed Sean over to her father. and then left for the fashion store.

Sitting on the sofa, Tyree gazed at his grandson with affection. He truly adored this little boy from the bottom of his heart.

Eileen rushed to the fashion store, where the manager had everything ready for her. The makeup artist, marveling at Eileen’s flawless skin, couldn’t help but exclaim, “Ms. Norman, your skin is amazing, almost poreless! How do you maintain it? What high- end skincare products do you use?”

“Oh! I usually just use my son’s moisturizer,” Eileen said with a smile.

The two makeup artists immediately understood that Eileen’s flawless skin was natural, something to be truly envied.

Eileen closed her eyes as the makeup artist applied the foundation, light and translucent, enhancing her thick, natural brows. The delicate eye makeup and the light- reflecting, soft pink l*pstick lent her an instant, dazzling beauty, reminiscent of a brilliant diamond.

Her long hair was elegantly pinned up, with wispy, slightly curled bangs by her ears, complemented by diamond earrings and a matching n*ecklace gracing her slender n*eck.

“Ms. Norman, let’s get you into your evening gown.”

Eileen nodded and stood up to change into the moonlight-white gown. The reflection in the mirror showed a natural, aristocratic aura.

“Ms. Norman, we have arranged your transportation for tonight. It’s waiting outside for

you.”

Eileen smiled gratefully. “Thank you.”

“I wish you a pleasant evening,” said the manager as she saw Eileen out. Seeing the Bentley waiting for her, Eileen gained a new appreciation for Mathew’s capabilities.

Yet, he had told her back when they were abroad that his family simply ran a hotel; it was a modest background.

to leave. She had put great effort into her makeup to mask her ordinary features, striving to emanate the aura of a high-class socialite.

A mysterious black Rolls-Royce pulled up outside. Winston stepped out from the back sc at, looking dignified and imposing in the evening sun.

As Belen stood in the hall, her heart raced as she watched him walk in. He was breathtakingly handsome.

“Winston, do I look good tonight?” She blinked shyly, seeking his admiration.

“Yes, you look beautiful,” he said with a nod. Whether Belen was stunning or plain, she held a unique place in his heart.
