Chapter 12

Chapter 12

“Be good, listen to me.” Winston gently stroked her head.

Belen’s heart immediately leaped with joy. She felt like she had received all of Winston’s affection and was comforted. Compared to Eileen, she had gained so much more. Fearing that her greed might bring retribution, she decided not to make a fuss

anymore.

After all, she didn’t have exceptional beauty. She could only win Winston’s favor with her personality, like being as docile as a cat.

She wasn’t worried anymore because Eileen was just waiting to be fired!

After Belen left, Winston pressed the intercom.

“Yes.” Eileen’s voice came through.

“Come to my office.” His deep voice carried an edge of annoyance.

Eileen took a deep breath in her office, knowing that she couldn’t escape what was coming. If it came down to it, she could just quit working at QR.

She took the elevator to the eighth floor and arrived at the entrance of the main office. She knocked on the door and then pushed it open.

Winston sat in his executive chair, silent yet exuding a daunting aura.

“Explain yourself,” he demanded, speaking now as her boss.

Eileen squinted her eyes. Belen was his girlfriend, and of course, he would believe. whatever she said. Was there any point in explaining?

“What is Belen to you?” Eileen retorted, furrowing her brows.

“Eileen, have you forgotten your place? You’re my employee. You’ve made a mistake, and you owe me an explanation,” Winston said, his thin l*ps parting.

Eileen suddenly understood. She smirked. “You saw it. I slapped her. What more is there to explain?”

“Why did you hit her? Was it because she wanted to complain about you?”

“It’s a personal grudge. She came to me today because of our personal issues. It’s wrong to hit someone, but she deserved it,” Eileen said defiantly, feeling a sense of relief.

Winston looked at her with a complex expression, wondering, ‘Did she really develop such a stubborn and unreasonable character because her mother died and her father

didn’t discipline her?”

“Eileen, if you’re willing to make an apologize, I can let this matter slide.”

“Apologize to whom, Belen?” Eileen couldn’t help but laugh out of frustration, her teeth clenched. “Apologize to her? That will never happen in this lifetime.”

“Eileen, this is a workplace, not a place for settling personal scores,” Winston retorted, visibly annoyed. Even though she was the daughter of the man who saved his life, his patience had limits.

Especially since the person she hit was the woman he had been searching for five years, someone who always lingered in his mind.

“Then I quit,” Eileen declared, throwing out her words. If he wanted her gone, fine, shet would leave.

“Eileen, stop right there.” The man behind her commanded sternly.

She stopped but didn’t turn around, annoyed at the sight of this man’s face. He was Belen’s boyfriend, and just looking at him made her feel uncomfortable all over.

How could a man so handsome be so blind?

“I’m not asking you to leave. You can continue working here, but such an incident must not happen again, do you hear me?” Winston, in the end, didn’t let her go.

After all, he had a mission from his grandmother to take care of her.

Of course, Eileen didn’t want to leave her job either. She loved designing, and after three years at QR, she had grown attached to it.

She turned around, glancing at the man who stood with his hands on the desk. She warned him kindly. “Just so you know, Belen isn’t a good woman. You’d better watch out and not get played.”

“The one who hit someone today was you,” Winston said, his eyes narrowed.

Eileen not only wanted to hit her, she wanted her dead, but she didn’t bother saying anything more. Since this man foolishly treasured Belen as his life, what more could she say?

Eileen calmly returned to her office. Isabela had not received any notice to fire her, so everyone in the office was stunned.

Eileen had hit a client and offended Mr. Nielsen’s girlfriend, yet she came out unscathed. They wondered how she managed to do that.

Jenna brought her a cup of coffee, comforting her. “Eileen, are you really okay?”

.85%

“I’m fine.” Eileen’s inspiration was nearly driven away by anger. She put down her pen and rubbed her forehead. “What are people saying outside?”

“Eileen, don’t worry about what they’re saying,” Jenna hurriedly replied.

“Tell me anyway.”

“They’re saying that you have a powerful backer, connections so strong that even Mr. Nielsen can’t fire you. They even say you’re his lover. That lady who came earlier must’ve found out about your relationship and came to confront you,” Jenna explained, carefully observing Eileen’s reaction.

Eileen almost wanted to laugh at the absurdity of it all. She wouldn’t dream of stealing Belen’s boyfriend, even if she were blind. She found the very idea distasteful.

Shortly after, Isabela called her over, warning her to be more careful with her attitude.

clients in the future. She stressed that even if Mr. Nielsen didn’t let her herself would make sure of it if such an incident happened again.

go, she

Eileen was speechless. She couldn’t explain much more. Her personal grudge with Belen was too deep, and the incident from five years ago was something she was tool embarrassed to mention to anyone.

Just as Eileen returned to her office, her phone rang. Picking it up, her mood instantly brightened by half. “Hello?”

“Why do you sound so tired?” a clear male voice inquired from the other end.

“Tired! When are you coming back?”

“I’ll be a few more days, but I’ve got a good news. There’s an exclusive private jewelry exhibition coming up, and I’ve added you to the guest list. You should definitely check it out. It has the jewelry set you’ve been wanting to see.”

“What? Really? That’s great! When is it?” Eileen was visibly excited.

“This Saturday; starts at 7 and ends at 9. Do you have someone to take care of Sean?” the man on the phone asked caringly.

“Yes, I can ask my assistant to come over or have my dad look after him, Eileen replied, not wanting to miss this perfect jewelry exhibition showcasing the works of top designers.

“Good, have fun, and I’ll treat you to a big meal when I get back.”

“Okay! I’ll be waiting.” Eileen hung up, picturing a handsome and sunny figure in her

mind.

The man was Mathew Olson, a friend she had met abroad, also a wealthy heir from a distinguished family.

Everyone might encounter a benefactor in their life, and Mathew was hers.

Saturday night was just the day after tomorrow. Eileen began to look forward to it.

Meanwhile, in a luxurious villa, Belen was applying ice to her face, looking at the slight swelling with resentment. She had always taken great care of her face, and now, all red and swollen, she cursed Eileen for it.

“That detestable Eileen, I’ll never let her off!” Belen muttered, picking up her iPad to read the news. Suddenly, she saw a post by a female celebrity showing her invitation to the top-tier jewelry show.

Moreover, she said that the event was exclusive, inviting only 30 guests, a symbol of high status.

Belen suddenly yearned to attend such an event to elevate her own knowledge and status. She aspired to appear like a wealthy person, and although she didn’t have the status to be invited, the Nielsen family did.
