Ethan was missing.

So was Selena.

And Charlotte was kidnapped.

Everything was wrong. It was all falling out of place.

“Asher, if you just let me go and look for him, I’ll bring him back” I growl at Asher. He’s not letting me go.

“Sweetheart, you know that you’re their next targe-”

“So! Let it happen. I need Ethan.” I shout and he shakes his head

“No! You’re staying! Don’t make me tie you up”

“Asher, this isn’t fair!” I shout as he walks towards the door.

“I know. But sweetheart, I’m doing this for you” he mumbles opening the door.

“No Asher you’re not! This isn’t fair. I need to look for him as well!” I walk towards him, as he locks the door.

“No! Just listen to me for once, sweetheart. You need to be safe” he says behind the door

“Asher, Ethan needs to be safe. What if they do-”

“They won’t. I won’t let them” he growls, lowly, walking away.

“Asher! Asher listen to me!I can help!” I shout but it’s no use.

I lay my head on the door, just as it unlocks. The door opens, and Holden pops his head in.

“I know you can find them Layla. If you find Ethan, Charlotte will be there as well. I need her” he whispers and I nod, walking out of the room.

“Are you coming with me?” I ask and he nods, as we walk out of the back door, and both run to the forest.

I’m sorry Asher. I have to get Ethan.

I run out of the pack grounds with Holden, before he grabs my hand, making me stop, in a clearing.

“Holden, let me go.” I say, trying to pull his hand from my arm.

“Sorry Layla. No can do” he smirks, before a cloth is put on my mouth and I blank out.

Crying.

I open my eyes, and look around to see Ethan in a cot. I make a move to stand up, but I’m tied to a bed. Fuck this.

“Shush baby. I’m here now. I’ll make everything okay” I coo to him, and he becomes quiet.

Selena, and Holden. I’ll fucking kill them both!

The door opens, and Charlotte walks in.

“Charlotte. Thank god you’re here. Can you untie me? Asher will be worried. I’ll get us out of here” I say as she makes a move walking towards me, but then stops. I look at her confused.

“Nobody is going to hurt you” I say, but she looks at Ethan.

“You’re really stupid. Actually stupid is more clever than you” she says, picking up Ethan.

“I was always thinking what type of mate Asher has? I mean, a lot of people knew that he had a second chance and all, but you? A wannabee royal? Come on Layla. Sometimes you have to think out of the box” she says as Ethan starts crying.

I look at her. She’s one of them.

“Sometimes I think, should I have rejected Asher, just to make all of this happen? And you know what the answer to that is? Yes. Because I’ll send this guy back, and kill you, pretend to escape, and Asher, and I will live happily ever after” she smirks at me, waving her hand around

“Who are you really?” I ask, as she places Ethan back in the cot, and he becomes quiet.

“I’m Charlotte. Asher’s Charlie” I growl at her.

“You can still get me out of here, Charlotte. I won’t tell anyone. I’ll forgive you. I won’t tell anyone that you got me out. Not Holden, or Selena.” I lie and she rolls her eyes.

“Like I said before Layla, you’re really stupid. I mean can’t you figure it out by now?” I’m confused.

“I am the person behind all of this. Do you want me to write it for you, and then sign it?” I freeze.

She’s been living with us, all this time.

“You lied. You said Selena took Ethan. But you took him. You lied about Holden and you being mates. I never saw the love between us. It was always sex. And Selena was your spy. Not Holden. He joined you guys after I rejected him---because he wanted me back. And that’s why you too pretended to become mates. So you’ll get Asher, and Holden will get me” I whisper

“Correct. But the thing, is that you had this little guy. So we had to pretend that we were mates. Holden is fucking good in bed. But I doubt he’s anything like Asher. I heard you screaming the first time you had sex. You were moaning” she smirks

“I didn’t know you were into porn. I could have let you in, and watch the full thing.” I smirk and she growls

“You better watch your tongue. Remember, you’re tied, and I can hurt Ethan” I growl at her.

“Don’t you fucking dare!” I shout and she laughs,as Holden and Selena walk in.

“You assholes. Bitch!” I growl at Selena and Holden.

“If you want Asher, Selena, how are you going to get him, if Charlotte wants him too?” I growl

“We have a way” she mumbles

“Just let me go!” I pull on the ropes.

Lilly isn’t waking up.

“We’ve injected a lot of wolfbane into you, so you won’t hear a thing from your wolf” Charlotte says picking Ethan up.

“Don’t touch him! Asher is going to come for us!” I shout and she rolls her eyes.

“I’ll let you in on the plan, shall I? You see Layla, everyone will think Selena is the spy. But they don’t know about me and Holden. They’ll think Holden is looking for you, and I was kidnapped. What we’re going to do now, is that we’ll leave Ethan close next to the border, and I’ll be close by. They’ll think that the people that kidnapped us, left us here. And I’ll convince Asher that, you are dead” she says as Ethan starts crying

“Asher won’t believe you. He knows I won’t leave him without giving him a reason.” She scoffs

“Oh trust me, sweetheart, he’ll believe me” she smirks walking out of the room with Ethan and Selena.

“Holden, set me free! If you don’t, I’ll kill you!” I shout as he walks out of the room.

“Fuck you all!” I shout, pulling on the ropes

“I’m going to kill you all” after my power works. It’s been blocked by the wolfbane.

“Asher” I whisper, sighing.
