Chapter 41
"Good morning" Rising from the bed expecting to see Jaden but he isn't in the room perplexed I scan the room in confusion. "Hailey" He says again, chuckling, making me jump from my bed, ruffling my hand through my hair stunned.
"What's going on!" I say loudly averting my gaze simultaneously through the empty room.
Has Jaden suddenly gone invisible?
"I'm not invisible my love" this time when I heard it I felt like it was drilled out of
"It's a mind link" Helen says happily.
Mind link recalling what Nisha had said about it.
"So what I can listen to your every thought and you have access to mine?"
"You don't necessarily have to say it out loud" he teases.
my
brain.
"You're a jerk" I state via mind link and get this sensation bursting from my insides I'm guessing he's laughing.
The door flings open Aitch strides in a smirk plays on his lips.
"Hailey...Hailey...Hailey " he voices.
"Hailey are you okay?" Jaden asks.
Invasion of your privacy just as Nisha had said.
I place my fingers on my lips indicating he stays mute he looks back at me stunned while I try my possible best to drag my thoughts from him thinking of how to take bath, I promised Nisha we'll hang out later and what to wear. "I know what you can wear when I return" Jaden chirps and I can imagine the grin on his face.
"Don't you have something doing Jaden Perry?"
"Yes ma'am stay safe baby" I feel a tingling sensation and a space within
"He's blocked the connection," Helena says.
"Can you block him out?"
"Not really, with time we'll master how to"
Aitch patiently watched my internal struggle.
Not taking any chances I stand up walk to one of Jaden's drawers pick up a pen and scribble on paper mind link.
Aitch looks at the paper with a distasteful look and a little bit upset.
"Makes sense" he shrugs.
"Funny how you could easily switch sides Angel"
"I learned from the best" I counter back all my oaths and promises I made to the badlands had been severed when Aitch decided to sell me.
"I am not your enemy here Angel"
"You are not my friend either and you should knock before barging into my room uninvited"
"He almost killed you at the request of the council" Looks like everyone was at the trial.
"I remember you almost killed me when I refused to kill another"
"I was making you stronger Angel" He steps in closer the look in his eyes made me uneasy.
"Aitch you need to leave" I say firmly done with this conversation.
"My request here is the same as the last, a sample of Jaden Perry's blood" Looks like I was wrong about y's theory Aitch had more motivation to attain Jaden's DNA. "What do you need that for?" I ask cocking a brow.
"It's something that can only be revealed when you get me what I seeks”
"You have to give me something to work with how would you feel if you're implored for a blood sample"
"If it's for a good course then I'll allow it"
"And this good cause is?"
"I can't say much but I know it's related to your mother's murder" I look at him in disbelief how the hell does Jaden's blood relate to my mother's murder? He is insinuating Jaden is somehow engaged in my mother's murder.
"Hailey" We both stare at the door as Nisha walks in with a bright smile on her face.
Does no one knock anymore?
"Who's he?" Nisha asks looking at him funny.
"I was just leaving," Aitch says with a bow not reaching Nisha's eyes.
"Who... Nisha begins to say but stops her mouth hanging as stares at me.
"Why are you looking at me that way?"
"Have you glimpsed in the mirror recently?" Nisha says grinning wildly.
"No why?"
Did I look that bad? I know my eyes may be puffy from gaining little sleep last night and my hair messy.
"Well you should" Walking to my side she pulls me up forcing me to stand in front of the wall mirror.
I touch my face wondering what the hell had happened, my orbs had changed from brown to green.
The word lines by my eyes side these the of my lips I've sustained from years of slavery had gone I looked a bit younger and pretty.
"Looks one night changed a lot" Nisha teases and I get a feeling to smack her as I blush. Jaden's trait possessed me.
"Come on let's go shopping to celebrate my treat
11
"I don't think that's a great idea" I reply absent-mindedly, the new change fascinated me.
"Come on" Nisha pulls me away from the mirror.
"You just won a case that almost ended in your demise that's the least you can do ain't you tired of being cooped up in this house I feel suffocated and I haven't stayed for a week"
Just remembering how close to death I was made my stomach knot cueing me I haven't absorbed a proper meal.
"Looks like we'll also catch a late breakfast" Nisha adds having heard my rumbling tummy.
"I will first enlighten me how you deduced Riley isn't pregnant"
"Well I was heading back from my date with Elijah when I overheard a maid saying you've been restrained for the murder of Riley's child"
"I promptly head to the pack hospital knowing immediately you had been framed Riley was still under proper check the doctor had told her everything seemed fine but she can't find her baby and that she might have lost it since we were good friends I asked her to have proper check and a blood test hoping she could save the baby" taking a pause.
"Riley was put under * where the doctor did the check so I'm guessing you know the rest of the story I had arrived late because I wanted to make sure the tests were accurate"
"Nisha you are a genius thank you so much"
"Thank me by hurrying out of the shower She says pulling me towards the bathroom I don't know what to wear all my clothes are in the next room.
"I'm aware, I'll get you something no more chit chat" Nisha insists she had a bossy nature the same one that made it possible I'm breathing.
I didn't spend much time in the bathroom. Nisha had left to pick up something from her room like she said she picked out a jumpsuit and laid it on the bed.
Not taking chances I bolt the bedroom door before properly cleaning my hair and changing into my attire.
The red color of my hair seeping on the edges the dye was fading and in need of toning another thing on my bucket list.
Nisha has wasted a large amount of time, bored of waiting I rush out of the room running into a huge figure that doesn't bulge, Lord Perry.
"Sire "I bow in respect about to apologize for darting into him.
"Watch where you heading Hailey we don't want anything happening to you or your friend," he says in an icy tone, sounding more like a threat sending chills down my spine.
