Chapter 9: Jaxon
“No,” he stopped her hand from unbuckled his belt.
Never once in a million years, he said no to sex. But Jaxon didn’t want to take advantage of her vulnerability right now. Zia was clearly not thinking straight. Enough with the number of drinks they had in the bar combined with her douche-bag excuse of a boyfriend. Ex-boyfriend if he must correct that. Jaxon almost lost his mind when he saw the way Zia reacted to the douche bag. He could almost guess it when he watched her eyes following the guy to the back exit. Jaxon had heard the moaning long before Zia could hear it.
Sure, the kisses had been such a huge turn on for him plus with her straddling him on the driver’s seat. Jaxon didn’t want to use his brain hidden under the jeans. He wanted to use his brain in his skull although his body highly disagreed to him. This wasn’t about him and his sexual drive. This was about Zia. She was hurt mentally because of what happened in the bar earlier. It would be wrong of him to take advantage of that even if she gave him her consent.
There was nothing more he’d rather do than making love to her senselessly in the back of his truck. He would do anything to make her screamed his name in pleasure and that his name would be the only thing she could remember afterward. But like he had said, this wasn’t about him and his sexual drive. Zia needed to be consoled. She needed a shoulder to cry on. Not some hot sex at the back of his truck while she couldn’t think straight.
“Jaxon, I—” her cheeks reddened for her sudden boldness.
What he could say? He surely had the effect on women. He admired her boldness. That wasn’t anything bad.
Jaxon reached for her cheek and murmured, “Baby, I would love to have you naked and squirm in pleasure as I bring you to the brink of madness with hot sex. But you’re not thinking straight. I can’t do that to you.”
“Most guys would have jumped to that opportunity.”
It amazed him that she still felt confident sitting on his lap while he was trying hard not to get his hard-on spotted by.
“I’m not like most guys,” he assured her. “I can bring you over to my place and let you sleep off for the rest of the night. But just remember, I’m not doing that if you still wanted the other request. Or I can send you home.”
Zia shook her head as her eyes glittering with tears. “Take me away for the night, please.”
Then he realized the douche bag must be living together with her.
Jaxon nuzzled her face on the crook of his neck. “Just close your eyes. We’d be at my place soon.”
Zia nodded and he felt her arms curled on his chest. It didn’t bother him that she was on his lap while he was driving home. His house wasn’t that far anyway. It would probably around fifteen minutes of driving, provided that there wouldn’t be any more distraction along the way. He put one arm around her waist while his other hand was holding the steering wheel. Soon, he heard her heartbeat became even and relaxed. He realized that she had fallen asleep.
He drove in silence, just listening to the sound of her heartbeat and breathing. Every Alpha lived in the pack mansion but they had their own homes too. Jaxon was no different. He spent the majority of his times in the pack mansion and only retreated back to his personal house when he needed a place to think and relax on his own. He loved surrounding himself with nature. Every werewolf loved doing that which was why he chose to build his house in the woods, close to the river.
He parked his truck in the garage and carefully came out of the seat while cradling Zia like a child. Her legs wrapped around his waist automatically as if she had done that to him million times. But she didn’t wake up at all. Instead, she purred safe and sound on his neck.
He carried her up to his room and carefully put her down on the edge of the bed. Zia’s eyes blinked softly at him as he helped to take off her boots. He stared into her big black eyes before slowing closing the gap between their lips. Zia’s arms curled around his neck as he pushed her down to the bed. A moment ago, he was assuring her that he wouldn’t have sex with her because of her situation. Now, he was about to break the promise he made. Jaxon pulled away before he could deepen the kiss. She pouted making him chuckled. He placed another kiss on her lips before tucking her under the duvet.
“Sleep, baby,” he whispered with a kiss on her forehead.
“Stay with me here,” her eyes pleaded his. “Jaxon, please.”
Nodding in defeated, he took off his jacket and shirt before dumping them to the floor. Jaxon scooted under the duvet and Zia immediately curled into his embrace while their legs tangled. He felt her lips touched his chest, right where his heart was. With one arm around her waist and another acted as her pillow, he kept her in his warm embrace as she dozed into the bliss. He stayed awake for s while, just feeling in content for having her in his arms. After years of surviving without a mate, he finally had her in his arms. He felt complete for the first time.
“You cast a spell on me, Jaxon,” he heard her murmurs.
He smiled against the top of her head. “And you did cast a spell on me too, my little vixen.”
He knew she could hear him before she smiled against his chest again. She secured her arms around him even more and he couldn’t complain about it. Slowly, he joined her drifting into a bliss.
