Katana

chapter 15

When humans try to find a cause for a destruction they refer to science--geographic locations, volcanic causes, weather conditions, and radioactive waves. In the supernatural world, there are many explanations as to why a whole entire area is flooded with water, a rapidly fast fire tearing down a forest, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, etc. Supernatural creatures are the masters of destructions, in their wake of anger; they leave behind a trail of mass terror and emptiness.

The war zone was completely destroyed. Under the human’s eyes, they see it a natural disaster but the truth underneath the veil, it was a war that killed many. Troy and Isaac stood next to Katana as they entered into the war zone. A mixture of deathly pale vampires was fighting off a mixture of werewolves who have shifted and a few who were still fighting in their human form.

Kieran turned around, his eyes hardened and void of any emotions. Xavier usual laid back composure was completely gone. In its place was a hard face with no trails of his carefree personality. He looked just as dangerous as Kieran.

“Today, we fight for our kind. We fight for what is ours and we protect what we love.” Kieran shouted.

His eyes found Katana briefly and a small emotion flickered in his eyes. She wanted to run to him and throw her arms around him. Tell him that they can run away from all this and hide but she knew that her emotions and heart were not in their right mind. Her wolf paced in anticipation, wanting to express their newly found abilities already. She craved the fight and the blood lust. The animal that she was, she wanted to hunt and kill.

A battle cry sounded in the air and everyone went off to assist their colleagues. Kieran turned around to grab a hold of Troy’s arm. He looked up at Kieran when Kieran spoke up.

“Protect her.” Only enough for him to hear but it was a command Troy will have to follow through. Katana’s attention was elsewhere she didn’t catch the brief exchange between her friend and her mate.

Kieran ran into the battle and began fighting. Katana briefly enraptured by how beautifully he fought the vampires, ripping off their heads with measurable effort. Xavier closely flanking Kieran’s side as they fought.

Katana caught sight of a werewolf fighting off two vampires who were fighting to snap his neck. The anger that soared through her veins even surprised her. She was protective and in a flash ran forward to assist. Catching the first vampire off guard she wrapped her arms nicely around the vampire’s neck. He released the werewolf to grab onto her hands to stop her from killing him.

Katana has never felt the adrenaline that rushed through her veins. She felt strong. Clearly, her wolf was giving her the strength she needed and she snarled as her arms tightened more while she pulled his head from his neck. Troy appeared in her line of vision as he assisted in beheading the other vampire and then turning to Katana.

Katana yanked harder and heard the breaking of the vampires bone alone with the slow popping sound as she tore his head from his shoulders. The vampire clawed at her arm in attempt to stop her. Her wolf gave her the last push to yank, popping the vampires head off completely. He fell onto the ground immediately.

She fell to the ground and looked up. Her eyes were black with blood lust as she sought her next prey. When she saw Troy moving away from her towards Isaac she saw that Isaac was being held down by four vampires. He quickly snapped one neck of one of the four before two of them held his arms, reading to rip it from his shoulders.

Troy appeared and fought off the one behind Isaac. Katana helped in removing one that was holding down one of Isaac’s arm. She snarled angrily as she ripped his head off his shoulders. The thought of him trying to kill her friend was enough to anger her.

The fight went on forever, or so it seems. There seems to be an endless amount of vampires that flooded the area. She could feel herself growing weak but held on strong. She needed to continue fighting.

Distantly, she saw Lewis fighting off a vampire but the vampire was just too strong. His hands were raised in the air and his eyes were zeroed in on Lewis’s heart. Katana was about to go to him when she was attacked and held down by two other vampires. She could feel their cold skin touch hers and disgust rolled through her veins. She snarled and bared her teeth at the vampires.

They laughed as they quickly made use in trying to take her down. One kicked her knees and she fell immediately down. The other wrapped his cold fingers around her neck in attempt to rip her head off. Her eyes found Kieran also struggling as more than five vampires were on him. His eyes found her and when he saw the situation she was in he growled and started throwing them off him in attempt to make it to her.

He was consumed in fighting his way to her, he didn’t see the dark figure that was running at a rapid pace towards Kieran. Katana saw him though and she shouted but her voice died in the air of the many angry roars. She struggled harder.

The figure stood before Kieran, a slow smirk on his face as he watched Kieran fight. Kieran’s eyes grew black with fury upon seeing him and Katana knew immediately it was the vampire that caused the scar on Kieran’s back. The figure continued to taunt and tease Kieran with punches and claw marks to his body. Xavier was fighting his way to Kieran as well. Troy and Isaac was nowhere in sight and she was alone.

It wasn’t fair. It wasn’t a fair fight. Her body began to tremble.

When she saw Kieran collapsed to the ground she saw red—doing the one thing she shouldn’t have done.

She shifted.

To protect what was hers.

To protect her mate.

Her clothes ripped and she growled into the air as she transformed into her wolf. The vampires that were holding her down released her in surprise. They were surprised to see she was a female. She turned around snapped off both of their heads with one bite as she pinned them to the ground.

Turning her head back to her mate, she ran towards Baldwin. He was too busy being distracted in killing Kieran he didn’t see when she pounced on him. Snarling in his face, baring her teeth at him. His crimson colored eyes widened in surprise. She snapped her jaws at him. Immediately, he snapped out of it and with one fist underneath her punched her stomach. She flew into the air. Baldwin stood up and Katana took a brief moment to look at Kieran who was barely awake.

“A female...” His eyes lit up in surprise.

She snarled and crouched low as she watched his move.

“This is a surprise. I wouldn’t have thought that the Alpha King would result in sending females onto the field. You mutts must be really desperate.” He laughed and Katana growled at his insult.

She wanted to show him just how badly he was wrong. That woman is not inferior and that she could very much rip his head off. She launched herself at him and he dodged her effectively. She snarled and turned around immediately to keep her eyes on him.

She continued to jump and attack him but Baldwin seemed to just enjoy evading her—playing his game.

“What is it mutt? Can’t seem to kill me? So it is true? Females are stupid. Born to breed only.” Baldwin remarked and Katana launched herself at him.

He evaded again but this time sent a fist towards her side, she fell down with a whimper to the ground. Pain shot through her side. He walked up to her and gripped her neck in his hands.

“You are stupid to come here, woman. Now you will die and it will be one less werewolf to worry about.” He sneered.

It was then she saw Xavier appeared behind Baldwin. She needed to distract him enough. Xavier zipped up to Baldwin’s back and kicked behind his knee, sending him down to the ground in surprise. A hard punch was sent to Baldwin’s spine, severing it. Katana got up and gladly took the kill by quickly snapping his head off.

She and Xavier ran over to Kieran where they fought off the vampires. Xavier lifted up an unconscious Kieran over his back. “We have to go.”

He ordered to her. Her identity has been given and several generals were looking at her. They needed to get Kieran back to the infirmary at base. She nodded her head and they were about to make a dash for it until a body tackled her to the ground. She fell and struggled against the person until another body came on top of her. She was being held down and her eyes went to Xavier who struggled to get to her by placing Kieran down on the ground but several soldiers stood in front of him blocking him.

“This has to be done. You done well but you broke a high law.” A voice whispered closely to her ear. It wasn’t vampires that tackled her down. It was her kind. A needle pricked at the back of her neck and she felt her body immediately losing its adrenaline. Voices can be heard but it sounded like she was under water. Everything was muffled as her eyes drifted close.
