Inner Woman

Chapter Illusions

Glittering rhinestones of neon flash

Become rivals for a diamond’s class

Rainbow bright, color clash

Daring imitation is but an ass

Billboard declares a leader’s might

Another shouts not so, not here

Promise made to make it right

Was made while drinking beer

A rose, sweet scent, beckons, tempts

Breathe deep, succulent sustenance

Charm it seems, completely exempts

Thorns piercing acquaintance

Surface shine, twinkle, wink

And as I ponder dig and peel,

A ripple makes me begin to think

Illusions shatter, like a thief does steal

The wonder of perfection is not real
