Inner Woman Volume 2

Chapter 37 Walked Upon

Laying on the floor

Parquet design under me

I’ve seen so many feet

Dust ingrained by destiny

When I first arrived

My colors vibrant, alive

Brilliant blues

Sunburst yellow

Eye catching motifs

soft silky wool tufts

I was in the place of honor

In the front foyer I did reside

Generations of family

before this grandmother

was born

Have tumbled on my patterns

I remember my own birth

The artist who chose my threads

whose skillful fingers

made minuscule knots

To bring me to completion

Prized possession

Persian rug

Now threadbare

Torn, I need repair

But then the stories

I remember

Would disappear

Let me bear my wounds

The scars of playful battle

The burns of love and death

A beauty beyond compare
