Chapter Oct. 23: Booger

[This is a warning (and a spoiler sorry) to those who have fears of insects or spider eggs o.<’]

David scrunched his nose uncomfortably, rearranging his mask on his face afterwards. He had a slightly stuffy nose, quite possibly due to him sleeping with the window kept open by accident the night before. He had forgotten to close it after his last minute study session, as he basically passed out the instant his head hit his pillow. David scratched at his facemask irritably. It’s been bothering him since the exam started, but since there were no tissues and he couldn’t leave the classroom, nor ask someone because of his strict teacher, he just had to tough it out for another 15 minutes. Thank the pandemic that at least he had a mask to hide his (very obvious) struggles to silently clear his nose.

The moment the bell rang, David immediately stood up. He had to get this damn booger out of his nose. It distracted him so much that it probably made him flunk one test already, so he obviously couldn’t just ignore it. He nearly ran to the bathroom and went straight for the paper dispenser, ripping out a sheet harshly and lowering his mask beneath his chin. He blew his nose as hard as he could for several long seconds, the booger barely budging to his frustration, then looking down at the paper.

« …The hell? » David almost shouted.

On the paper now laid a few tiny elongated round shapes, similar in colour and form to grains of rice but they were smaller and a bit translucent. With a horrified gasp through his mouth to prevent a sniffle, David realized that a spider or something had laid its eggs when he was asleep.
