Chapter 28
"I'm going to kill her, I swear I'm going to tear her throat out!"
"Calm down, everyone just needs to calm down."
"Kandy will regret ever coming to my pack in the first place after I ripe her limbs off one by one!"
"Evangeline calm down." Sebastian pulls me against his chest, attempting to settle me down.
"I want to hurt her, I want to hurt her bad," I mumble against him as he strokes my hair. "How dare she try and turn Henry against you like some sort of trained dog." The only thing on my mind is a wonderful image of Kandys blood on my hands and her body torn to bits just like the last guy who hurt the ones I love.
"I know you're upset, but you have to relax, you just gave birth." His hands rub soothing circles in my back and I rest my head against his hard chest. "You're still healing, you need to relax."
"I can't relax, she- she makes me furious, enraged, and I-I-"
He takes me down to the couch and looks me right in my eyes. "Evangeline, everything is going to be fine, I'll take care of her. Now, how about I tell Marina to bring Caroline back and we can play with her for a bit?"
"No, I'll hurt her." I shoot up from the couch and pace in front of him. "I need to break something, something now."
Quickly Sebastian takes me outside but before we can make it to the scrap piles of firewood I smell something in the air. My senses all focus on that one scent, letting my inner wolf take control.
"Oh god."
That's when I spot her, Kandy, leaving Fiona's house. In less then a second my mind is put into a frenzy of hatred and desire to kill, something I haven't felt since the day I tore apart my first victim. My body pulses, my mind looses control, and I feel my wolf starting to come out.
"Evangeline," Sebastian grabs me and tries to focus my eyes on him only. "Evangeline, listen to me okay? You don't have to kill her. You will not kill her, because we are going to play with Caroline, our baby."
My baby.
"You are going to calm down and come back inside."
Kandy tried to hurt my family. Kandy tried to hurt my family, now I have to hurt her. I have to kill her. My eyes turn dark and Sebastian wraps his arms around me, holding me down and restricting any movement. Quickly he drags me towards the pack house and inside.
My heart races in my chest and I feel as if it is going to burst. I hate her. I hate her. I hate her. I want her dead! I can't stand to see her smug little face anymore. Shouting in frustration, I struggle in his arms as he holds in tightly. "Why are you protecting her!"
"I'm not protecting her, I'm stopping you because I know this isn't who you are." He takes me up the stairs and into our bedroom, once inside he lets me go, but stands in front of the door. "You have to control your anger."
I yell again and fall onto the bed, trying my best not to tear apart the sheets. "Why do you have to do this?"
He sighs and falls back, the door catching him, "because I did this to you, I turned you into a blood lusting monster like I am, and I'll never forgive myself. When I saw you, back when you were taken, and you killed that man... It was like looking in some bizarre mirror and I knew that you would have never done anything like that if you hadn't met me. Now here we are again and this time I have to stop you, so I can fix you like someone couldn't do for me."
My thrashing has calmed down and I lay still on the bed, watching the ceiling. It is true, I would have never done anything like I have if I never crossed that stream. Never in my life would I had seen my future to be so blood-hungry at times, but is this not what he what's? Does he not what me to be a strong, possibly feared leader like him? "But what's wrong with me being like you?"
I sit up and watch him. "We can be unstoppable."
He looks away and moves from the door. "You're not like me Evangeline, you're kind."
"Am I?" I question. "Maybe I was, but after everything that has happened I'm not going to pretend like I am the same person, because I'm not."
"That's does not mean you're a killer."
I climb off the bed and hurry towards him. "You said so yourself, at the doctors."
"Back then you talked about being nice leaders and acting kindly towards others, so I guess we're both changing our minds now, aren't we?" He stares directly into my eyes, making me feel two feet tall.
I turn away from him. "We could be powerful-"
"We already ar-"
I cut him off, "no, more powerful, more stronger than we already are."
"You're becoming power hungry." He grabs my arm, making me face him again. "You need to rest."
"I'm hungry for a lot of things Sebastian, but I need to show everyone that I can't be stepped over anymore! Everyone leaves me, but they'll regret it once we run the region. My father and his little pack won't know what hit them!"
He tights his grip on me. "Do not take your position for granted, this is not a role to use as revenge."
With his eyes burning holes into my own, I step closer, only inches away for him. "I am going to kill Kandy, no matter what you tell me, because she tried to kill you. I'm done with people killing the ones I love!" I take a deep breath. "She will feel my pain."
Surprisingly, he lets go of my arm, letting me free. "Fine, kill her then." He says simply before turning away.
I stand, dumbfounded. "You're not going to stop me?"
"No, if this is who you are now then go ahead, become a monster like me, but when you begin to regret your actions just know that they can never be changed." He tells me while facing the doorway. "I'll be with our infant daughter."
I swallow hard. "Okay, tell her mommy loves her."
Quickly, I sprint out of the pack house and make my way towards Kandy and Henry's new home. As I begin to see it in the distance a burning pleasure grows inside of me, and I can finally release all that I have been holding in. Trees fly by and I swiftly run up to the door then knock a small song. As I hear footsteps near, a smile grows on my face. "Hopefully Fiona and Henry will forgive me." I mutter to myself.
Suddenly the door swings open, revealing my prize.
"Oh hello Luna, can I help you?"
How fake can she get? "Hi Kandy." I smile and bat my lashes. She gives me a confused look before her eyes grow wide at the sight of my canines protruding from my mouth. Before she can shut the door in my face I stop it with my arm, so she immediately turns and runs into the house.
"Come on Kandy? I just want to talk about your little games!" I yell before shifting into my wolf and following hot on her trail.
It is time that people learn to stop screwing with my family.
