I'm the Alpha's World

Chapter 26

**Sebastian**

I take a group of guards out to sweep the boarders just in case whoever was out here still is. It doesn't take longer for us to clear the land and find out it's empty. On the way back I spot a young guy, around Henry's age, and I notice with as one of Henry's friends. I can't help but think about what Evangeline was telling me so I walk up to him. "Hey, you're friends with my brother right?"

He looks over to me. "Yes Alpha."

"Have you noticed anything off about him?" I ask. "Has he been acting differently?"

"Well I haven't spent much time with him since he met Kandy, she seems to take up most of his time now-a-days."

Before I can say anything I hear shouting in the distance. "Alpha! Alpha!" I turn to look behind me and I see a guard jogging towards us. "We've found something you might want to see."

I follow the guard to the western forest line and into the woods. It doesn't take long until we come up to two other guards looking down at a fire pit. "What's this?"

"We think some rouges have been camping out here, and maybe the person you heard earlier is linked to them." One guard explains.

"Why would they camp out on pack land when the border is so close?"

"We're not sure." He tells me.

We sweep the area for any other signs but find nothing. Just as I'm about to leave another guard runs up to me. "Alpha, the Luna called and she said she needs you, it's an emergency."

"Alright, thank you."

Without waiting another second I head for the pack house. An emergency? She just got freed from the doctors office, how can she keep getting herself in trouble?

When I come up to the house I quickly go inside only to find it empty. "Evangeline!" I call out, but no one answers.

Suddenly the house phone rings and I go to the kitchen to answer. "Hello?"

"Sebastian it's Andrew, I'm at the doctors with Evangeline-"

"What did she do?" I ask, already preparing myself for her next injury.

"She's gone into labor, the baby is coming."

*Evangeline**

I lay on the hospital bed with the upper half raised up. My body is holding on, trying not to give up and fall asleep. Andrew peeks through the door and I tell him to come in. "Did you call him?"

"Yea, he finally answered at the pack house, he's on his way." He tell me and I take a deep breath.

"Did he say how long it will take?"

"No, but I'm sure he'll be here any minute now."

Andrew leaves and soon enough Doctor Swanson comes back in. She checks to see how far I am and I pray it's almost time, I need this baby to just get out. It's been over an hour. "You're at five, do you want the epidural?"

"Yes please." I mutter and wait patiently while she gets everything ready.

"Okay, sit up and arch your back."

I do so and she injects me to numb the area. "Okay now I'm going to put in the good stuff." The needle pokes me in my lower back and I clench my jaw, then she threads the catheter through before removing the needle, leaving the catheter in place.

"Where is he." I mumble to myself.

"Okay, you just need to alternate sides and I'll be monitoring."

I nod.

As Doctor Swanson opens the door to leave, Sebastian comes rushing in. My body relaxes and I glare at him. "Where have you been!"

"I was out-"

"I don't care, can you not tell that I'm five centimeters dialed and that I have a catheter in my back!" I shout. "You've already missed so much!"

"I know, I know, I'm sorry." He pulls the chair up to the bed and sits beside me. "I tired to get here as soon as possible-"

"Stop talking and hold my hand," I cut him off and slap my palm against his.

"How are you feeling?"

I roll my eyes and look away from him. "I'm laying on a hospital bed with a baby working it's way out of my, whatever. I just got a giant needle in my back but I have to wait even longer until I'm fully dilated. So, not that good." My face scrunches up as another contraction hits me. "I don't what to do this right now, I want to be at home watching movies and eating chips."

"Aren't you excited?" He says. "I just want to meet her."

"Stop being cute when I'm in pain, be in pain too."

He looks around. "I can't?"

"Well, come closer and I'll punch you in the face." Before he says anything Doctor Swanson comes back in with a smile. "How are things going?"

"I want her out, now."

"Well you're still at five centimeters so if you want her out you have to step up your game." She jokes and I stare, annoyed at her. "Hopefully soon we'll begin pushing."

"We'll? You're going to push her out?"

"Evangeline." Sebastian somewhat scolds me but I could care less. The lower half of my body is numb and I just want this all to be over.

"It's alright, women in labor are usually angry, at least with me around." She jokes again.

I squeeze Sebastian's hand as more contractions erupt in my body. After another hour I feel as if the baby is going to slip right out and Doctor Swanson checks again. "You're almost there Evangeline."

No matter how I position myself I'm still uncomfortable. "I want to push now."

"You're not there yet, one or two more centimeters. You should be happy you're coming along quickly, some women are waiting for hours."

When she briefly leaves the room I turn to Sebastian. "I know I sound like I'm ready for this, but I'm not, I just want to get it over with."

"I know." His hand brushes the hair from my face. "This will all be over soon and we can go home with our baby, okay?"

"What are we going to name her?"

"I'm sure the second that we see her we'll know."

I sigh and look back up at the ceiling. "You're really calm, how?"

I sense him shifting in his chair before he speaks, "I have to be, for you. On the inside I'm freaking out."

"Really?" I smile and let a small laugh sound throughout the room. "You're always so cool and collected."

"I have to be as Alpha, if I didn't act confident people would begin to think I'm not right for the role. Then we would have real problems."

We sit side by side, waiting for the last centimeter. In this time I can't help but think about all the people missing this important time in my life, my mother, my father, my grandmother... None of them will get to hold my hand or witness the birth of my child. In all the videos Fiona and I watched of women's experience at the hospital, they all had family with them, filming, causing trouble, crying. It seemed perfect and normal.

"Who's ready to give birth!"

Immediately I glance to the doorway to see Fiona bursting in. My heart stops as she runs over to me and attempts to hug me over the baby bump. "I'm sorry I'm late Evan, I didn't even know Andrew brought you here."

"It's okay, I didn't think you were coming."

"How could I not?" She says dramatically, "I'm you're best friend."

I roll my eyes playfully at her and notice Andrew talking to Sebastian. "It's almost time to push."

"You can squeeze my hand as hard as you want."

I grab onto her and begin to tear up, all the emotions running wild inside of me have found an escape. "I wish my family was here."

She strokes my hair while gazing down at me. "We are here Evan, we're your family."
