I'm the Alpha's World

Chapter 24

I sit in the hospital style bed, waiting for Doctor Swanson to clear me for leave.

For some unknown reason I feel angry, upset, maybe a bit annoyed, and it's all aimed at Kandy. I know somethings wrong with her. Henry barley even talked to me the other day, all because she was waiting for him. If she doesn't listen to Fiona I'll have to take matters into my own hands, and it won't be pretty, this baby is blowing me up like a balloon. Plus the moon goddess hasn't made me too happy either, what she did was uncalled for.

"Okay Evangeline, you're free just take it easy, no more dangerous forest adventures until this baby is born." Doctor Swanson walks in and I sit up.

"And how much longer is that?"

"Well with the growth rate she's at I would say a month, maybe longer."

I nod and smile to Sebastian who's leaning on the doorframe.

"Do you have a name?" Doctor Swanson asks and I give Sebastian a look.

"No, not yet." I answer and get off the bed, glad to be back on my feet. "But we're thinking hard."

Sebastian and I walk out together and get into the car. While we're driving I stare at the moving trees beside us, watching them fly by, and I can't help but want to take a walk through them. "Sebastian," I mutter with my eyes still on the woods, "I want to go on a walk, in the forest."

"Evangeline, you just got out of the doctors for an accident that happened in the woods. Is this supposed to be a joke?"

"You'll be with me, please, we never spend time together anymore." I pull my gaze from the forest line to look at him, pouting like a child. "I want to spend time with you."

He sighs, knowing he can't refuse. "Okay, but we're walking on pack land."

I smile and wait for us to arrive back at the pack house. When we do I tug Sebastian in the direction of the trees and we abandon the pack house, leaving it behind us. Slowly the clearing begins to mold into thick forest and Sebastian watches me prance through a few feet behind.

"How far do you plan on going?" He asks and I turn around to look at him.

"When was the last time to took a break from your duties and just relaxed?"

He searches up the trees with his arms crossed. "Never."

I walk up to him and place my hand on his broad shoulder, catching his attention. "Well then it's about time you did."

He walks along side me and I link my arm through his. "It's almost like we're a normal, human couple." I joke, looking at our linked arms in adoration.

"Except for the fact that we're leaving pack lands in a few steps." He turns us back around but I stop.

  "So?"

"We aren't leaving pack grounds, the forest gets too thick and it's probably filled with rouges." He try's to convince me but it don't budge.

"The only time I've left pack land is to see the doctor and go shopping with Fiona. Can't we just venture out?"

"What's the point of that?" He asks. "What's out in the woods that you want to see?"

I pause for a moment and collect my thoughts. "It's just... I want to be normal mates without the Alpha, Luna titles sometimes. I always feel like people are taking you away from me for guard meetings, or issues by the borders, or trips to other packs, and beyond these borders there's no one to take you away. There's no duties out there that are more important to you. Out there I can be number one and not your title." I confess and cross my arms. "Sometimes I think about us no being leaders and just being mates. Maybe then we could be closer and there wouldn't be so much pressure on everything."

His arms unfold and he gives me a concerned look. "I know this is not what you want all the time, but you are the most important thing to me-"

"It doesn't feel like it." I mumble and glance to the forest floor.

"What can I do to show you then?" He comes up to me and places a hand on my arm while the other tilts up my chin. "It's not like I can stop being Alpha."

"I know-"

Before I can finish my sentence a sudden rustling in the distance catches our attention. Sebastian immediately steps in front of me. "Someone's here."

My heart beat speeds up and I rest my head against his back.

"Let's go." He grabs my hand and leads me back the way we came, knowing I can't shift due to the pregnancy.

"I can't move that fast." I mutter while trying not to trip over rocks and tree roots.

Without thinking he picks me up and begins to carry me further away from the borders. "Is this really necessary?"

"I don't want to risk anything." He says. "This is the safest and quickest way for you to get back."

"It was just a little noise."

"No, someone was watching us. I have to get guards out there-"

I cut him off. "You're leaving me again?"

"It's my job to keep my pack secure."

When we near the pack house and I can see it in the distance he puts me down. The forest thins out and I annoyingly trudge back while Sebastian walks another way. "Where are you going?" I call to him.

"I have to get to the guards. I'll be home soon!" He shouts before swiftly shifting and sprinting away as a giant, black wolf.

**Kandy**

  "Was anyone following you?"

I glance up at the tall guy. "No." I mutter and stomp past him.

I spot the fire and walk towards it, seeing powerful men surrounding it. They look up at me and one of them crosses their arms. "That mate of yours?"

"He's asleep, he doesn't know I'm gone."

I join them around the fire as one guy talks.

"I saw them in the forest today, talking about their positions. The Luna doesn't want to be a leader and she doesn't want Sebastian to be an Alpha anymore. It's like they're asking for us to take over." The guy chuckles and the rest of the men join in.

"As long as we got that little brother of his as our puppet we can take over the Tate pack sooner than planned. Why start a new pack when you can take someone else's?"

Again they all erupt in a weird masculine laugh and I stay quiet.

"Now you know your daughters weaknesses right?" The man turns to another whose hidden in the small crowd. Smoothly, he comes forward and the light from the fire hits his face.

"Yes, she'll be the easy part."

"We're all just lucky you ended up being mates to Sebastian's brother, I mean it's much easier then taking over by force."

I stare at the fire with my hands buried in my coat pockets. "I don't want him to be hurt, ever."

"Don't worry he'll have to play the role as Alpha, so he'll have to have a strong image." The man, one of the leaders, tells me and I'm thankful.
