I'm the Alpha's World

Chapter 15

"What do you mean you don't know?"

"You know everything about me, but I don't know who you are. You might as well be a stranger."

His jaw clenches and he grabs my hand. "Evangeline-"

"I'm having your child and I don't even know your fathers name, or where you were born, or what you wanted to be when you were growing up." I say quietly. "I'm supposed to be your mate, and the Luna, but I only feel like a joke. A while ago you asked me what a Luna does, she stands beside the Alpha, she has sex with the Alpha, she has a baby to become the next Alpha, and then what? She dies."

He says nothing.

"She's kind, understanding, beautiful, but what else? I don't know where I belong anymore, but where ever I seem to be I never seem to belong to myself. If I have to hold up a gun to my head for people to listen to me then fine, hand me the gun because I'll do it again. Seeing that woman from the cell reminded me that I'm more then you're mate. I saved her life and I saved those other people too, I saved them from you."

I take a deep breath and pull my hand out of his. "I'm better then this, I have more to say. I'm Luna of a pack I don't even know and I don't want to die someday knowing people would be wondering who I even was. I'm worth more then your mate or a baby maker or a sad little girl. So you can hand me the gun because I don't think things have improved, and if I find out you've been killing innocent people even after what I did, then we're going to have a problem."

"Where is this coming from?" He looks at me coldly.

"It's coming from a place that's been hidden for a while now, and it's about time it surfaced again."

He crosses his arms and looks away.

"I'm going to go."

"Oh ya? Where are you going?"

"To talk to my father. I'm going to run home." I tell him before turning away, but before I get a step too far he grabs my arm.

"Like hell you are, you think I'm going to let you run off into the woods alone?"

"I didn't ask for permission." I state bluntly.

"You're being cruel."

"Am I?" I sickly smile and take a step closer to him. "Why don't you drive me back then?"

He takes a deep breath before walking to the car and getting in. I quickly get in myself and just as I pull my self belt over my chest he pulls out, jolting me slightly forward. Instead of yelling at him I cool down and buckle in.

"What did she say? To be careful around me?" He asks in a pissed off tone. "Is she scared of me?"

I don't answer, I only stare at him.

"You see Evangeline, I know, I know what everyone thinks about me and the way I run things. They're not wrong, it's how I keep my pack strong and fearless. You think a pack like mine is born from alliances and playing the good guys? Fear is how to get to people, it makes them weak, and I use that to my advantage."

My heart rate picks up as he starts to go faster and faster down the road.

"You don't win, you don't stay on top by playing nice."

"So what?" I say strongly. "You're just the bad guy then? I'm sure you look like one to everyone else, killing innocent people that don't deserve to die!"

"How do you determine if someone deserves to die Evangeline? Is there some magical code in your head? Last time I checked you've killed too, I'm not the only one. But he deserved to die right? He deserved to die for everything he did right?"

His words torment me, they strike me deep in my core.

"He's a bad guy because of what he did, who said I haven't done the same things he has?"

"You haven't."

"And how would you know? Apparently you don't know me at all."

The car suddenly becomes incredibly suffocating as he speeds down the street. My heart races as everything seems to be moving too fast and my lungs begin to shrivel. "Pull over, pull over I can't breathe." I muster to shout out. "I need to get out of the car."

Immediately he swings is off the road and abruptly stops the car. I push the door open and climb out, dying for a moment to calm down and breathe. I bend over with my hands on my knees as I breathe heavy facing the patchy grass.

He runs up to me without saying a word and he brings us down to the ground. I sit down and lean back against him, my chest rising and falling rapidly. "So, you're the bad guy?"

"There's not much to know about me Evangeline, I do things the way I do for a reason."

"But why? Why does it have to be this way?" My voice softens, sounding more vulnerable then before. "Why do you have to be the bad guy?"

"Let's hang the banner over there so people see it when they walk through the door." Fiona points to a place on the wall and I help her pick up the 'welcome' banner she made. "Let's just use tape or something."

I step up on the step-stool and hold one end of the banner against the wall. "Is here good?"

"Ya, here," she hands me a strip of tape and I press it against the banner.

"Are you feeling okay?" Fiona asks as I step down. "How was the appointment?"

"The appointment didn't happen." I casually walk by her and begin to set out some of the food.

"Wait, what?"

"I didn't go to the appointment."

I open one of the chip bags and pour the chips into one of the empty bowls. Without looking back at Fiona I place it on the table and grab another bag.

"Well are you going to explain?"

"It's hard to explain."

"Well maybe you can try because I'm very confused right now." I finally look at her with a blank expression.

"Can we just set up for the party?" I ask. "I want to talk about it later."

She accepts my excuse and we continue to set up. An hour later people begin to show up and Fiona leaves to pick her sister up from the airport. Music plays in the background as pack members socialize and snack on the food we set out. "Everything seems to be going smoothly." Henry comes up to me and I simply nod.

"Henry I'm going to tell you something, but if you scream it out loud I will hurt you."

I've seemed to catch his attention and he motions me to continue. "Just don't scream."

"I won't! Now tell me."

I stare at him dead in the eyes and lowly say, "I'm pregnant, well very likely."

"Really?" His eyes grow wide and I nod again. "I'm going to be an uncle?"

"Yes," I chuckle, "calm down."

"My prayers worked. This is great news, how come you don't want anyone to know?"

I sigh, "I have to be sure of it before I go around telling everyone. I don't even know half the pack anyways so who am I going to tell?"

"Well who already knows?"

"Sebastian, Fiona, you, and Marina." I list off. "And Fiona might have told Andrew."

Just before Henry can speak the front door swings open and Fiona stands with a girl just a tad shorter then her. She has blonde hair and an extremely noticeable depressed look about her, but I can guess why. "Guys, this is my sister Kandy!"

Everyone says 'hello' and greets her in their own way as Fiona leads her through the people and right up to us. "Kandy this is Henry, brother of the Alpha, and Evangeline, our Luna."

I smile and shake her hand. "Hi Kandy it's so nice to finally meet you."

I glance up at Henry and nudge him to say hello, but his eyes are fixed on Kandy.

"Henry." Kandy's sadness seems to be wiped away as she says his name. Her shaking hands reach out and he grabs them.

I glance at Fiona, giving her a weird look that she gives back.

"Kandy?" Fiona butts in.

"I don't understand, I've found my mate, h-he rejected me!" She happily mutters in disbelief. "This doesn't make any sense?"

"I don't care." Henry mumbles before pulling Kandy into his arms.

"You're mates!" Fiona yells and everyone turns and starts cheering. "This can't be real!"

Immediately I sneak away from all the commotion and slip outside the back door. Quickly I rush out of site and cross my arms. "I know you did this." I calmly say into the soft breeze. "How?"

"I did it for you Evangeline."

I turn around and see her emerging from the trees. Her long soft hair cascades down like a waterfall as she gracefully comes towards me. "You can't do that, her mate rejected her, and you just gave her a new one!" I shout in confusion.

"I can do what I please, after all I am the one who gives the gifts of mates. For all you know I can take them away."

I swallow and let my arms fall to my sides. "You know everyone will wonder how."

"Their bond is not for others to question, but for them to enjoy themselves." She gently caresses my cheek. "Now what has you in such a terrible mood Evangeline?"

"I don't know what I'm doing anymore." I admit and let down my guard. "I feel so lost."

"Where there is darkness there is light." Her hand softly touches my lower abdomen. "You have light inside you."

"My baby?"

"Yes, she is your child, but my gift to you. Your baby is just like you, but only because she is my daughter."

My face hardens, "what are you talking about your daughter?"

"In her heart and mind you are her mother Evangeline, but spiritually she has a piece of me in her. You will need to watch after her, protect her, because one day she will do great things."

My mind can't seem to comprehend what the moon goddess is asking of me, but I nod. "You'll watch after her too, like you do for me?"

"Yes."
