Chapter 66
Chapter 0066
Laura
Jason ordered breakfast for us, and he was eating and talking to Annie as if they had known each other for a long time, it was. incredible how well they two got along.
“Yes, Ava. Annie was with Jason this whole time,” I said, explaining to my friend on the phone while watching Annie and Jason talking. Because of last night’s bad weather, the roads were buried in snow, so the snow trucks were leveling the roads, removing the snow in the
process.
‘Jesus! So Jason actually found out that Annie is his daughter?” she asked, choked.
“Yes, he found out, and I couldn’t refuse,” I said, then sighed.
“Well, to tell the truth, it doesn’t matter that he discovered it. He have been the progenitor, but he’s not really her father becau wasn’t the one who raised and cared for the girl. What does he w anyway? He clearly wants to take your daughter away from you, brute man,” she said in a warning tone.
“Actually, he just asked me to let him participate in Annie’s life as he father. He said he wants to make up for lost time and something like. that,” I said, adjusting my hair in front of the bathroom mirror. I was just waiting for the roads to be ready to use so my daughter and I could return home.
“That sounds like bullshit, Laura. Be careful, this is Jason Davies we’re talking about,” she warned, worried about me.
“Yes, I know,” I said to agree with her.

“So you guys were stuck at the hotel with him because of the bad weather yesterday, right? Terry and I also went through a bit; we got stuck here in Richmond, and we couldn’t even get to your house, we had to rent a hotel room in terrible condition just to be able to spend the night,” she said.
“My God, Avie. You suffered so much. Now I feel guilty, I’m so sorry,” I said, feeling embarrassed that they had left Manhattan for Staten. Island to come and help me look for my daughter, and in the end, they had to suffer.
“Don’t blame yourself for this, Terry and I are adults, and we know how to deal with these things. Whether we like it or not, we were always going to come to help you look for your precious girl,” she said, which made me smile for having friends as good as them.
“Thank you very much, really, friend,” I said, thanking her.
“You don’t need to say thank you.”
“If you guys can get around now, go to my house. Annie and I ar already on our way, so we can talk better there,” I said.
“Oh yes, we will do that. Besides, I want to know everything. I wa know how the night was for the three of you there. How Jason treated you, where Annie slept, and where exactly you slept-I want know every detail and I know you won’t hide anything from me, right? She asked as if she were an owl trying to read the truth from me just for the sake of my voice. I giggled.
“Of course, Avie. I’ll tell you everything, it was really peaceful,” I said to her, scratching the back of my neck, feeling apprehensive. Clearly, Ava shouldn’t have known that I ended up giving in and sleeping with Jason. My friend was extreme sometimes, when she put something in her head, she wouldn’t take it back for anything..
“Even better,” she said.

“Oh, I need to hang up now. Richard is calling me,” I said to her, seeing that Richard was indeed calling me.
After disappearing and turning off his cell phone yesterday, what would he have to say today?
“Oh great, he must be worried about you two. I’ll let you talk to your boyfriend. See you soon, Lau. Love you,” she said goodbye.
“See ya,” I stammered, with a bitter taste in my mouth from her calling Richard my boyfriend. How could Richard still be my boyfriend after what happened between Jason and me the night before? “Hello, Richard?” I said this after answering his call.
“Hi, honey. Where are you? I’m here at your house, and the doorman said that neither you nor Anne came home yesterday. What happened? Is Anne sick? What happened to you two?” He asked, genuinely worried.
“Annie’s not sick, we’re fine. It’s just that I tried calling you couss times yesterday, but your cell phone was turned off,” I said t
and I heard him sigh.
“Yeah, I was a complete asshole yesterday, that’s why I came to house, so I could apologize to you,” he said, looking really sorry.
“I understand. I was scared yesterday, Annie was missing when I picked her up from daycare.”
“What? What do you mean when you say Annie was missing?” He asked worriedly.
“She’s fine now and safe, I found her,” I said.
“Oh my God, Laura. Holy shit, I’m sorry I wasn’t there to help you find our daughter. I’m so sorry. I’ll never forgive myself for that,” he said, looking like he was feeling really guilty.

“I don’t blame you for anything, Richard. We had a falling out, and you have every right to take some time for yourself. Don’t feel guilty. Besides, Annie and I are fine now,” I said, reassuring him.
“Just tell me where you are, and I’ll come get you now,” he offered.
“Don’t worry about it. We’ll get a taxi, just wait right there,” I said. Imagine if Richard came here and hooked us up with Jason. Surely they would fight again.
“Are you still talking to Ava?” It was Jason who was standing at the bathroom door, asking as he looked at me.
“Whose voice is that? Where are you?” Richard wanted to know after hearing Jason’s voice.
“Ah… It’s no one, I have to go now, okay? We’ll talk later,” I said to Richard in an embarrassed way. Good heavens, what was I holding on to?
“Wait, Laura…” Richard tried to speak, but I turned off the phone because Jason was approaching me, making me completely ne because he was so close.
“Are you talking to another man?” He asked softly, but his voice thick and slurred, and he seemed angry.
“What? It wasn’t anyone. It was just Richard,” I said, signaling for my cell phone.
“Does he make you that nervous?” He questioned me, being so close to me that I could even feel his cool breath hitting my face. “After what we had last night, I thought I would be the only man who would make you this nervous.”
And Jason was really serious, he had his jaw locked and his face in an angry expression as he looked at me deeply while being so close that our bodies were touching. Jason Davies was clearly jealous.
