I Want You Back by Meminger

Chapter 43

Chapter 0043

Laura

The sound of my cell phone ringing scared me so much that I woke up scared, and then I grimaced, feeling the headache and massaging my temples. I had slept with my dress on and everything. I grumbled, picking up my cell phone, which was still calling, and then answered, stretching my neck because I had slept badly.

“Hello, Laura speaking,” I said, my voice still slightly slurred from sleep.

“Did you kiss Jason Davies?” I heard my friend Ava’s hysterical voice on the other end and sighed.

“What?”

“There’s no point in hiding, okay? Terrence told me everything. You went after Jason and kissed him,” she said in an accusing tone, and I looked at the clock. It was 4:47 a.m., and Ava was already on duty.

“Girl, look at the time!” I scolded her and got up to go to the bathroom. That’s crazy, I had even slept with my shoes on.

I remembered that after leaving Jason’s house, I was so airy and out of my mind that. I just threw myself on the bed with my thoughts flooded with him and easily passed

out, only to wake up now. It also made me understand how tired I was, since for

about three days I didn’t sleep well. So now I took off my shoes and went to sit on the bathroom toilet while I massaged my sore feet, listening to Ava teach me a great

lesson.

“You lost all sense of danger, Laura! How the hell did you kiss that man? Have you forgotten the terrible things he did to you? You must be just crazy, honestly!”

“I know, Ava, but I had no other option than to kiss him so he would leave me alone,”

I tried to explain, but Ava wasn’t so understanding.

“Don’t give me that nonsense! Of course, you had other options, but you preferred to

go there and kiss him!”

“The other option I had was to lose the work that my team and I spent weeks

developing, I wasn’t willing to jeopardize the work of the entire team just because of my issues with Jason,” I said exasperatedly.

“And you thought it would be better to go kiss him?”

“Look, at least now Jason will leave me alone forever. He promised that before he

kissed me. I told her to try to make things easier and ended up in front of the mirror, seeing my catastrophic situation. My lips were still pink and stained with lipstick. from yesterday’s intense kiss, my mascara had smudged. Maybe because I had cried.

before going to sleep, I didn’t remember very well.

“Girl, even if Jason fulfills what he promised you by not looking for you anymore, do you think you guys will stop seeing each other? Because I think you’ll be the one

going after Jason now,” she accused.

“What? Of course not! Why would I go after Jason?” Ava was saying so much.

nonsense

“Because I know you very well, Laura, and I know that Jason is like an addiction for you. You’ve held up well until now, doing everything you could to refuse him, but from the moment you gave in to that kiss, you signed your sentence, and now you’ll be the one going after him,” she said, making me feel apprehensive.

“It’s not like that, Ava. Jason isn’t so in control of my life, I now know very well what I want,” I said, trying to hold on to those words as I went to the kitchen to get some water to drink. I decided to eat something too, but first I had to take a shower.

“Well, it seems that my analysis is the right one, it’s obvious that you want him, and this feeling will only increase with time.” She threw it in my face, accusing me..

“Ah, you know what, Ava? Let me go take a shower, okay? You woke me up super early with your protectiveness, and now I’m up too early to start my routine. You couldn’t wait a little longer for me to give this sermon? How about waking me up at 9 am rather than 4 a.m.? Let me go take a shower then so I can see if I can regulate my thoughts!”

I hung up on her, and she would be cursing now. I threw my cell phone away and sighed, taking off my dress, getting into the shower, and starting to take a shower.

Furthermore, I couldn’t deny that Ava might be right about what she said. I didn’t

even know how I had managed to hold myself back to the point where I had enough

self–control to stop kissing Jason and run out of his house yesterday. I didn’t know

if, as soon as I saw him again, I would be able to hold myself together again but not

run into his arms and kiss him again. The kiss had been so good that it had taken

me out of orbit.

So Ava was right to be afraid I’d do something stupid the next time I saw Jason.

Damn, Jason Davies! Why is he still so irresistible? I sighed heavily and closed my

eyes trying to focus my thoughts on something more useful. Today was Monday and the new Nemesis winter season advertising campaign was starting, so I should be

ready to do my best today.

When I finished showering, I checked my emails and saw that Jason had kept his promise and released the project. I smiled seeing a lot of messages from my team

happy that the project had been released.

“I always knew you would be able to convince that monster!

“Congratulations, Laura. You saved us all!

“Now let’s give our all to make our event a big success!”

I also smiled when I read those messages, feeling satisfied, so I sighed and went to get dressed. But when I stopped in front of the mirror to do some light make–up, I noticed the bruises on my neck which were hickey marks that Jason had left on me yesterday, I screamed in shock.

“Oh my God, what is this? Why is it so purple?” I rubbed my hand on my neck to remove that mark. How was I going to work now with that huge hickey on my neck? My colleagues certainly wouldn’t forgive and would be mean all the time, I needed to try to hide it. I picked up my cell phone and called Ava. Maybe she’s had this kind of problem before.

“Hi Ava, it’s me again. Do you know how to get rid of a hickey mark on my neck?”
