I fell in love in another world

Chapter 10

Today was the day.

Today was the day and Luna was brimming with nerves. May didn’t have the power to read people's minds or feel what they were feeling however at that exact moment she thought she could see auras of Luna's nervousness emanating out of her.

She couldn’t relax. She too was anxious-no she was fretting just like Luna, maybe even a bit more.

She had been with the Duke for years. May had even left all hope of visiting her family, but now she had a chance, now she could help Keir and Luna.

The very thought of messing everything up was eating away at her.

“May…can we do this?” Luna was fidgeting with her white corset that matched beautifully with her huge flowy dress.

May straightened and rested her hands at her side. “We have no choice. It's either our plan works or you will be married to him.”

Luna's face darkened at the thought as she moved away from May and toward her dresser. She picked up her white long gloves that would reach above her elbow. “You are right…”

It had been four days, meaning two things. Keir would have some of his strength back, enough for all of them to escape, and the thing she'd been dreading since her first day at this mansion.

Her wedding day.

“Now remember.” May had Luna near the door, as she whispered. “All you need to do is distract the Duke and all the guards. You need to make a scene so big that you will have the chance to escape. I can not tell you what kind of distraction you need, but whatever it is, you need to be smart about it.” She gave Luna's hands one firm shake before opening the door.

“I can do it, and I think, I already have an Idea,” Luna whispered back at May.

As always Nathan was behind the door ready and clueless as to what Luna's true intent was.

Nathan walked Luna toward the grand Hall. He occasionally cast her a few admired glances. He was still too guilty about how things ended between them. The last time they had truly had a conversation was when Luna reminded him that Keir was only an entertaining thing to her, and ordered him to stay out of it.

So he didn't speak to her, fearing that she would give him a disappointed look again.

As much as she felt his lingering eyes, She couldn't give in and baby him. Right now she had a mission, an objective that would save her from a devastating future.

When they made it to the Grand Hall, Luna had to watch the servants struggle to open the heavy wooden door again, before beholding her eyes to a flourishing sight.

The Grand Hall was captivating.

The chandeliers reflected onto the black marble floor, there were rows of white-lit candles that were inside glass. White Hydrangea flowers were on both sides of the entrance. Further ahead were four rows of seats. One for the groom and one for the bride.

Her heart pained at the reminder that she was alone in this. She had none of her friends from her world to be present on her side.

She bit her lip. Perhaps that's a good thing.

The Duke was standing the the middle of the Grand Hall with a clear disappointed face. Once Luna and Nathan got closer she could see why. In his hand, held a broken and dead white flower. In front of him was a servant on his knees, begging for what she could only assume was forgiveness.

Luna stepped away from Nathan and proceeded to the Duke.

“What happened?” Luna tried her best to stay in the character that she created. To not look at the servant with caring eyes. She placed a hand on his new black suit.

“This insolent fool almost ruined this place by decorating it with this!” He crumpled the flower and let the residue fall on the servant's head.

Watching the petals fall she eventually made her way to the boy. The servant was a brown-headed young man who had his head on the ground. Luna almost gasped at how skinny his body was. He looked like he hadn’t eaten properly in days.

“But you found it, with your tentative eyes. So surely this can be overlooked.” She said pushing herself on him.

He was about to shout something but Luna lightly grazed his hand. “Please, I don’t want anyone killed on, my-our wedding day.”

She cringed at how she was acting. I never want to do this in my life again!

The Duke smirked and took her left hand into his, intertwining them while pulling their hands up. She stumbled a bit before bumping into his chest. It felt like the wind was knocked out of her.

“You are right. Besides I can’t have you feeling sick today. Many of the neighboring Dukedoms are coming to praise our marriage.”

She was about to smile and agree but under his overpowering Cologne, Luna could sense he was also threatening her.

“I-I won’t embarrass you.” She managed to say as she stared into his soulless eyes.

“Good.” He let her go, not caring that her legs fumbled. He ordered some knights to ‘take care’ of the servant before paying attention to Luna again.

“Do you like what I have done?” He credited.

Luna's hatred for him was starting to reach its peak yet she responded in a sweet tone. “Oh yes it is all so pretty, you really are the best.”

His grin widened as he tugged at her waist. “After our wedding, I have another surprise for you.” He leaned down to her ear, mistaking her shudders of fright as a shudder of excitement. “When we are all alone, we will have our first night together.”

Her heart sank and her body froze. My first time…My first time would be shared with him. No, I won’t allow that, I’d rather die!

She looked up with a smile that made him swoon. She tucked her hands inside his suit, caressing his chest as she pressed her body closer, causing him to take a step back each time.

She got close, he stepped back, she got closer, he stepped back.

“Duke Gerald.” They both stopped and after a good second of her staring up at him, her eyebrows rose and her nose turned up. “Do you smell something… burning?”

Too captivated by her, he hadn’t noticed until the smoke also caught his nose. He pushed Luna off and looked behind him.

The tail of his black long black vest had caught fire. He started to scream, and hop around goofily. The corner of Luna's lips turned into a cheerful grin. “Well don’t just stand there put it out!” He hollered at the knights and servants.

There were about eleven knights in the room including Nathan. They all rushed toward the Duke not giving Luna a second glance.

It was a good thing too, because her eyes could finally lower and her act had left her body, like a extinguished flame.

Even though she enjoyed the Duke's pain, she couldn’t stay. She instead had to make the chaos even bigger. No one was watching her, so she retreated backward. She used the back of her heel to kick two candles down, before running out the Grand hall.

She picked up her dress and kicked off her high heels as she ran because her life depended on it.

Many servants watched her in confusion and asked her questions as to why she looked so distraught. “What's wrong my lady?” Are you alright?”

She didn’t answer them, she couldn’t. She had to hurry and make it to Keir.

Mays's part in all this was to distract the guard and to get the key. As Luna ran to the east side, her face smirked a bit at May. The old woman had a frying pan in her right hand and the keys in the other.

The bald guard was knocked out and below her feet with a massive purple-to-blue bruise on the back of his head.

“Wow.” Luna managed to huff out. All that running had forced her to rest her hand on the wall.

“I was going to use my gray magic on him, to make him feel slightly sick, but all I could do was cause a minor cough, so I had to resort to this.”

Luna took the keys out of Mays's hands. “Better than nothing.” Feeling the weight of the situation closing in on her she quickly unlocked the basement door and sprinted to Keir's cell.

No turning back now.

He was now standing on his own, with no help at all. His long hair was partly out of his face and his body was not hunched or scrawny anymore.

“It's bee-what a dress.” His tone changed from smirky to baffled in a matter of seconds. “That dress is too poofy.”

It had been four days since their last meeting. In that time May had taught Luna how to use her powers in another way. With her index finger, she focused her energy on just that point, and in a matter of seconds, her finger lit up.

When she first figured out how to do this she was reminded of a movie called ET. Her finger resembled that exact moment when that strange-looking alien's finger glowed, because of this new discovery, she was able to illuminate the space between her and Keir.

It's always so dark in this prison, this should help!

Luna was sort of expecting to be praised a little. I bet he's totally surprised. She raised her chin at him.

“Keir…”

He grazed the bar and after hearing her call his name he slowly turned to her. His eyes trailed her up and down and she couldn't help but copy.

She knew their situation was still dire, however, she had never seen Keir so strong or so beautiful. His lengthy, black hair cascaded down to his ankles like a waterfall of darkness, and his red, ruby eyes seemed to pierce through her very core. Four days ago he looked like a fragile animal but now he stood in front of her with a powerful aura.

“You look better,” She spouted.

He smiled, “All Thanks to you.”

As Luna unlocked the cell door, she felt her heart pounding in her chest. The moment had finally come. She had always visited Keir's cell, but now that she saw him up close, she couldn't believe her eyes. He stepped out of his cell and walked out right in front of her.

Keir grinned at her stupefaction, his devilish smirk making her heart flutter. "Luna, ready to escape this wretched place?" His voice, like silk but with a hint of danger, sent shivers down her spine.

Just as she was about to move on, their eyes locked in that moment, Luna felt the weight of her decision. She had run away from her wedding, from the life forced upon her, and freed a prisoner of a Duke.

This isn't the time!

“Come on! Mays waiting for-”

Keir's body started to rise and from the look on his face, he wasn’t the one who made himself levitate. “Run Luna!”

She couldn’t even look back as her body flung to the stone wall. The scream that was ready to tear out of her shattered against the impact. Ringing and muffled yelling were all she could hear for about ten seconds.

The Duke's head snapped toward her. His face was contorted into burning rage. “You bitch!”

Her heart quaked as she steadied herself against the stone. She clenched her fists, ready to face the enraged Duke. "How dare you leave the altar! How Dare you to conspire together!" he bellowed, his face turning crimson with fury as he advanced toward her.

"I had no choice!" Luna cried out.

The Duke's hand lashed out again, the sound of the slap echoing through the hall. Luna stumbled, dazed, before regaining her footing.

Meanwhile, Keir's eyes blazed bright red. As his body thrashed around in the air, it became encased in an aura of scarlet magic. "Release her!" he commanded, struggling against the invisible force constricting his throat.

He was conflicted and that only made him more furious. Dammit, focus! He had only been able to use his magic when he was in a controlled environment when his body and soul weren’t being threatened. The thought of what he feared tried to enter his brain. The idea of using his true powers. However he knew even if he used it, it would be too unstable, and the percentage of everyone in the room turning into a black husk of puss was far too great.

The Duke seethed, his voice laced with malice. "You will pay for your insolence, boy! I’ve kept you alive all these years knowing you are a monster born from hell! Yet you seduce my Luna! No…No, you shall pay…Knights, execute him!" The Duke released his hold on Keir and let all the knights rushing in take their turn on him.

Luna's body froze. Her eyes couldn't look away as one of the knights started to blast with tiny explosions that were the size of a bullet, some started to throw punches at him, and some slashed at him with their swords.

Is this it? Is this really our fate?

“I-I’m sorry!” Luna cried, reaching out to Keir.

“Enough! We will have our wedding early!” He took a fist full of her hair and started to drag her. “After that, I’ll lock you in a place where no one will see you but me!”

Luna clawed at his thick fingers but couldn't pry a single one open.

“Maybe then you’ll know your place!”

As he dragged her out of the basement, Luna took one more glance at Keir, but she could only see a pool of blood and the backs of all the soldiers that surrounded him.

“No…no, I made a mistake.” She choked up.

They were now at the door. Why couldn’t that damn searcher give me…I don’t know some fighting powers! He just had to give me some stupid healing powers!

“Let go!”

To her surprise as soon as the Duke opened the door, he let her go. She fell backward but quickly got up. That's when she paused. Not only because it was odd for the Duke to suddenly let her go but because the smell of Death had leaked itself inside her. She lifted her left hand, shuddering once she realized it was wet.

“Oh right, I need someone to clean that up.”

A blood-curdling scream echoed in those very halls.

“May, May!” She grabbed the unmoving and bloody Mays head. “May wake up! You have to get up!”

“Oh did you care for her? I suppose she was the only one close to you. Too bad she was utterly useless.”

Luna ignored him and kept calling Mays's name.

Not even a minute went past and the Duke started to become annoyed. “Enough she is dead. I put a hole through her using my powers there is nothing you can do for her, now let's Go!”

Duke Gerald used his floating magic to pry Luna's hands away from May first, then when Luna made it clear she wasn’t going to move he lifted her body. “My goodness Luna you are the most difficult woman I’ve ever met!”

Her eyes were clouded with tears. Her face was becoming messy from the makeup May had done so carefully. The massacre was mixing in with her tears.

The Duke made it obvious that it wasn't a pretty sight. However, She didn't care. All she could do was repeat I’m sorry to her lost comrades.

They made it to the Grand Hall. A few of the decorations like the rug and a few thousand flowers were burnt, but otherwise, it didn't look as awful as she hoped.

“As soon as they kill that demon, then we will continue.” He sniffed.

“I’ll never forgive you for this!” She said through her teeth. For the first time, she felt like would kill him with her bare hands. Flashes of ways to kill him started to mix in with reality.

She wanted nothing more than for his head to roll.

“Do not make that face. Not only do I hate it might its ugly. And I’m only keeping you alive because of your magic and beauty.”

He dropped her and used a bit of his mind-controlling powers to lock her in place. He’d never admit this to anyone else but his mind control powers weren’t the best, so he had no choice but to only use it in that way.

“It's a good thing that Knight of yours reported about your suspicious activities, because if I had found out about this any later.” He started to chuckle. “Well, let's say you wouldn’t keep that pretty face of yours,”

Nathan told the Duke? I thought he was loyal to me!

“I’m sorry Luna.”

She dared not to look but her eyes didn’t let her. Nathan was walking to her in his shiny Knight uniform.

“Nathan, why did you do this? I-I thought you’ve protected me…I thought you only listened to me! Yet you’re just as awful as him!”

Nathan looked pained as he dropped his helmet. “It's not like that. I do want to protect you-No I still am. That monster isn’t worthy of your love, d-don’t you see, if I hadn’t intervened then that man would’ve killed you!”

She scoffed, “You are so blind!” Her face curled in pure disgust at him for she no longer so the timid Nathan but a coward. “You have just sentenced me to a fate worse than death!”

He clenched his teeth and stubbornly pushed his hair back. “I didn't want it to go this way. I only wanted that thing punished. But once this is done Milady… then you’ll see how fortunate your life will be. You’ll live lavishly-”

She started to sob. “Do you really think I was happy here? Every day I was stuffed into something tight and flurry, every day I had to see servants crumble to their knees after one minor thing, and every time I had to endure this pig sexual harassment, and every day I encountered death.”

His eyes grew wide and took one step back. For the look on Lunas face told him, she would kill him if he got near her.

“Okaayyy, enough with this. Knight! Go check on that monster to see if he's dead.”

Five minutes of waiting had passed and Duke Gerald huffed as he snapped his fingers. “Where is the news of that boy being dead!”

They both expected a weak-looking servant to come running in the Grand Hall. To say “Sorry for the wait Sire.” Yet no one came.

The Duke snapped his fingers continuously and after three minutes past he cursed. “Why is no one-”

Screams and hollers came from afar, but then they edged closer and closer to the main entrance of the Grand Hall until hundreds of the Duke's servants scrambled in the hall.

But to the Duke's surprise and Lunad they didn’t even glance at the Fuke, they made sure to not even give him the time of the day as they ran to the other side where a large Grand door was. None of the servants attempted to open it but instead pushed with all their might until the door broke open.

Bright morning light shined in the room. Luna squinted a tad but once she got adjusted to it her eyes softened. It had been such a while since she saw the outside world. Since she saw the morning sun and felt its blinding light.

This wouldn’t be the worst thing to see before I lose my Life.

“What the is the meaning of this!” The Duke Scrambled around trying to find at least one Knight to answer him. Unfortunately, no one was there but the two of them.

“What did you do!” He blamed.

“N-nothing.” Luna stuttered, she slowly shook her head getting out of the trance.

“No-No if this isn't you…then…” The Duke stopped his magic on Luna and Ran. He ran to the outside doors, trying to leave the hell he brought upon himself.

Luna's legs collapsed and she stared at the Duke in disbelief. “What?” Why is he running, hasn’t he won? What is he so afraid of?

That's when she understood. Her body quickly hunched. Demise was approaching and Luna could sense it. This wasn’t over and in fact, some may say that the tables had turned.

Although it was becoming too much for her. She hadn’t practiced with controlling her stomach more than her light magic. So to her dismay, she threw up.

So m-much death…

“Ugh.” Duke Gerald had fallen on his long-tailored suit. For that outfit of his was going through the worst. First, it was burned now it was tripped over.

“Where do you think you are going…” The Dukes' and Luna's heads turned at the same time. Their breathing hitched and stopped upon the sight of a blood-covered Keir who was smiling ear to ear. “Little pig?”
