His Unwanted Wife Again

Chapter Chapter Sixteen

UNEDITED

The middle of the night.

The room was cool and completely dark. Sabrina hugs herself under the fluffy white blanket that was spread across the gigantic king-size bed. She felt surprisingly warm, and cozy. She didn't know how, but she suddenly woke from her sleep for no reason. She couldn't hear a thing going on in the condo. Jasmine wasn't crying, and there was no movement around her, but yet, she just woke up. She wiggles her body and hugs a pillow. A habit she developed to give her comfort from not having Nathan around and then she wills herself back to sleep.

Suddenly she gasps when a large hand wraps around her left ankle. "Nathan?" She mumbles.

"Shhh." He whispers as his hand begins to glide up.

She gasps again. He had lifted the covers and started crawling on top of her. He places his first kiss on the side of her waist, and then her stomach. She reaches out, wanting to touch him, but he shoos away from her hand.

She began to squirm beneath him. "Hmm." She moans as he brings his kisses across her chest, and then on her neck.

She reaches out again. He growls and slams her hands down harshly.

"Ow Nathan, that hurt."

He doesn't say anything, he just keeps kissing her.

She tries to push him off. "Stop."

He slams her hands down again but this time he kept them pinned.

"That hurts." She cries out.

He squeezes harder.

"Ouch! Stop! She yells.

Instantly, he quickly brings his face mere inches away from hers and smiles wickedly.

"Do I look like Nathan to you?" It was her attacker. "Ahhhhh!" She screams.

Her eyes shoot open and sees the white ceiling. She then realizes that it was a dream. A horrible, horrible dream.

The door swings open causing her to jump up and grab her pillow.

"Are you okay?" Nathan rushes near the bed looking like he woke up just as confused as she did, and only wearing his boxer briefs.

Her panting hadn't stopped, nor the pounding of her heart "It..it..was a dream." She trembles. "I'll be okay."

He removes her comfort pillow from in between hand and scoots in. He pulls her into his arms and lays her onto his chest. "The attack, or the accident?" He asks.

They were technically both attacks, but it was how they differentiated between the two. Her nightmares weren't frequent but they were intense.

"The attack." She answers.

"I'm sorry." He rubs her arm up and down then pulls her closer. "I'm here now." He kisses her forehead. He couldn't stand to see her this way. He wondered how many nights she had to go through this alone. Her spine tingles and she nudges near him as if she could get any closer.

"The day you came back, when you came to my office, I wished that you just came to me with the truth." He admits. "I've wished that every day since then."

"What do you mean?" She looks up.

"I could have forgiven you, Sabrina. Yes, I was angry, but if you told me the truth, I would have realized that you needed help. I would never have given up on you. The angry would have gone away." Like it is now. She acknowledges in her mind.

She places her head back on his chest and feels the vibrations of his thumping heart. She wished she would have seen the tabloids before walking into his office. Better yet, she wishes she never left to begin with. Everyday she wishes that. Regret sucks.

The room becomes quiet. She didn't reply to him. She didn't know what to say. After a few minutes, they both drifted asleep.

The next morning he was gone. She rises from her pillow and looks at the bed like it just gave her a compliment. "Crap!" She shouts as she realizes that Jasmine didn't wake last night.

It sent her into a panic. She flys off the bed and into Jasmine's room. She wanted to just shake her to see if she was alive, but that probably wasn't a good idea. She stands in from of the crib and leans her head to listen for breathing. Not hearing anything she quickly uncovers her and she begins to stretch and make the cutest little yawn face.

Sabrina. Blew out a large sigh of relief. She was probably being paranoid but it was the first time Jasmine ever slept an entire night without feeding.

"Good morning. Nathan greets her from behind. He was wearing all black suit and almost startles the life out of her.

She puts her hand over her heart. "I thought you left." She breaths.

"I was in my office." He steps closer. "This is your home. This is the last place you should feel unsafe."

"I know." She looks over at Jasmine still sleeping. "I just didn't know you were home."

He wraps his right hand around her neck and extends his thumb. He uses it to tilt her head up and inspects her bruise. He rubs his thumb over the spot it was on. "You're safe here." He shifts his eyes over her shoulder towards their sleeping daughter, then back at her. "You two are the most important to me." He leans in and kisses her jaw.

His eyes roll back and her whole body tingled this time. When she lifts her eyelids and looks at him, she could see that coldness in his eyes was beginning to dissipate. She was starting to see a little bit of her Nathan. Maybe she was taking the right road by lying.

He clears his throat suddenly and removes his hand. "Have you bought a new dress?"

It was a dress for the launch party that Alden enterprises was hosting. It was to celebrate the success of the expansion of the company. It

even family and friends. It was even in the papers in upcoming events.

"No, I haven't gone yet." She shakes her head. She didn't want to be in public unless she absolutely needs to.

been in the works for months. It was a big day for Nathan. Clients, and potential clients, will be there,

"You can order something online, or I can have a store come to you if you don't want to go out." He sticks his hands in his pocket and pulls out his phone. "It's right around the corner, you need to get something soon." He gives the phone most of his attention.

"No." She shakes her head again. "I think I'll go shopping today, besides, Conner and Hunter need something to do."

His brows decline slightly, and he diverts his attention away from the phone and back on her. "I have some time this morning. One of my meetings was canceled. "May I keep you company?"

Her brows lift in surprise. "Of course. I'll get Jasmine's ready as soon as I'm done feeding her.

She was excited almost kiddy that he actually wanted to spend time with her.

The city streets were filled with people. Nathan grabbed Sabrina's hand once they stepped out of their truck and pulls her and Jasmine's stroller into what was probably the most expensive clothing store in the city. Conner in front, and Hunter behind them.

The store was cool compared to the stuffy hot air outside, and she thought she could count the amount of clothes they had on the shelves.

"Mr. and Mrs. Alden." A man with bleach blond hair and dressed in a black suit and tie extends his hand. "I'm Charles. How can I help you today?"

"My wife needs a dress." Nathan inserts quickly.

"Of course. We have only top designers." He puts his hand on Sabrina and escorts her towards the back of the store.

Nathan directed Conner towards Sabrina with a tilt of his head.

She glances black at Nathan sitting on a white reclining sofa. He pulled Jasmine's stroller close to him and pulls out his phone.

So much for having some time.

Dress after dress was shown to Sabrina. She chooses a simple teal gown.

"Come this way." Charles takes her to a back dressing room. It looked like a dressing room for the movie stars. Mirrors all the way around, a table that had anything a girl would need.

"This is as far as you can go." Charles puts his hand on Conner's chest.

Conner looked down at him and raised an eyebrow.

"It's okay Conner. Just stay right there." Sabrina states.

He was standing between the doorway of the mirrored room and the hallway back towards the entrance of the sales floor. He nods and stands at attention.

Charles took a seat on the sofa and waits as Sabrina goes to try in the dress.

At each end of the room, there were three changing rooms for privacy. As she moved to enter one of them, someone comes out of one.

It was the last person she expected to see. I mean, someone grabs hold of her and shake her until the light turns back on.

Baylee walks past her and stands in front of the mirror, checking her self out. She wore a short scarlet red, strapless dress. They haven't spoken since the night she gained her memory back and she didn't see a reason to change that. "Mrs. Alden?" Charles disturbs her trance-like state.

"Hmm." She snaps out of it.

"Miss." Baylee corrects, thinking she was being spoken to. She turns, and her eyes connect with her sister-in-law's.

"Sabrina." She freezes.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I was speaking to her." Charles points to Sabrina.

Sabrina takes that moment to run in one of the rooms and changes into the dress.

Once she came out, Baylee was waiting for her. She looks around the room and realizes that Charles was gone, and Conner stood in front of the closed door.

"I want to talk to you for a moment in private but this bull." She points with her thumb behind her towards Conner. "Won't leave."

Conner smiles.

"I'm not going to make him leave," Sabrina states clearly.

Conner crosses his arms and focused his eyes on Baylee. She in turn squints her eyes at him.

If Sabrina wasn't mistaken, something was happening here..

"Whatever, "Baylee mutters as she looks away from Conner and back at Sabrina.

"Look, I don't want to fight with you. I miss my brother that's all."

Sabrina stares at her and says nothing.

"How is he?" Baylee asks.

"He's waiting for me."

"He's here?" She lets out a breath. "Is the baby here too?"

Sabrina nods.

Baylee glances back at Conner and joins her eyebrows together. It was obvious that she really didn't want him there.

"I'm sorry." She whispers when she looks back at Sabrina.

"What?" She couldn't have heard right.

"I said I'm sorry," Baylee says again. "For that day, and everything before."

Was she waving a white flag?

"I was wrong, and I had no right rubbing my nose in your marriage. I shouldn't have listened to my mother. It's just when she would vent, I would get caught up in it. I should have realized that hearing only one side of the story probably isn't knowing the truth, and Clarissa gave me an earful trust me." She glances back at Conner and again.

Conner was staring at her like he was fascinated.

"Can you forgive me?" She turns back. "Do you think Nathan will forgive me?"

Sabrina hears sincerity in her voice but was afraid to trust anyone. She stood their silent.

"Can you talk to Nathan for me? Can you tell him I'm sorry? If his happiness relies with you then that's all I care about."

Suddenly everyone cares about Nathan's happiness. The last time she encouraged Nathan to forgive a family member, it didn't turn out well. She shakes her head. "I'm sorry. You're going to have to talk to him on your own." "I've tried. He doesn't want to hear a word from me. It's so awkward between us. We're at the same family gatherings and he ignores me."

Sabrina was in the same boat right now. He was just starting to talk to her again and they're married and have a baby.

Baylee lets out a defeated breath. "What is her name?"

"Jasmine."

"I wish I could meet her."

Conner clears is throat. "We have to hurry this up."

A knock sounds at the door. "Open up please," Charles yells.

"Open it." Sabrina orders Conner.

He opens it and in comes Charles. "Beautiful! Both you of you!" He blows kisses everywhere.

"Can we maybe have lunch?" Baylee asks, ignoring him.

"I'm not sure if Nathan will like that."

Baylee lets out another defeated breath and searches the floor.

"Are you shopping for the company party?"

Sabrina nods.

"Can I at least help you pick out another dress. This looks gorgeous on you, it's just, I think you need to show a little more skin.

Sabrina finds herself in the mirror. She liked this dress.

"Just because you're a mom doesn't mean you have to look like one."

She dressed like a mom?

Baylee smiles. "Okay, show Nathan this one, so he won't start wondering what the hell is taking you so long."

"How do you like it?" Charles asks.

"She's going to try something else." Baylee replies as Sabrina runs out quickly and finds Nathan still completely zoned into his phone, and Jasmine sound asleep in her stroller. Maybe a little more skin will get his attention.
