Chapter 14: The Final Battle
THE BEEPS ARE GOING A LOT LOUDER, THAN BEFORE. Though I cannot see anything, I hear a lot of commotion going around me. I was trying to focus on the voices around me, but it was hard to pinpoint who they were. My senses were driving me crazy. I am having a hard time, pinpointing where I am.
’Have I finally returned home?′ I began to wonder. A familiar smell enters my nostrils; vanilla sugar. The smell of my beautiful wife, Lynn. An everyday lotion, but not in Limbo. I try to open my eyes, but for some reason, they are sealed shut.
“Oh, Jacob, I wish you would wake up,” Lynn says to me.
’What are you talking about, Lynn. I’m awake, just blind,′ I say in my head. For some reason, I cannot hear myself speak.
“Cain,” she calls out.
“Yes, Lynn?”
“Oh, knock it off.”
“Sorry. What is it, Mom?”
’Mom?!’ How long have I been asleep?
“I need you to change him.”
“I can’t,”
“What do you mean you can’t?”
“I just can’t, alright.”
“Don’t worry sweetheart. I will do whatever it takes to fix you.”
’Fix me? What is wrong with me?’ my thoughts begin to wander.
The beeps continue. I can feel different hands touching me, not knowing what is going on.
“Mrs. Sprite, there is activity in his brain function. He can hear you, keep it up!”
“Thank you, nurse.”
“You’re welcome.”
~Beep~ ~Beep~
“Cain!”
“What?!”
“Why won’t you change him?”
“Because I don’t do that anymore.”
“But…”
“But, nothing. I’m sorry mom. If it is his time, God will have to take him.”
’My time? What? No! I just got back!’
In the darkness of my mind, I see the little white friend again. ’Hello, little guy.’ I say in my head. The bunny starts to hop away from me. Suddenly I begin to emerge from my body. I am completely translucent, hovering above my body. The bunny begins to hop down the hallway, making his way to the New Born area. ’What are we doing here? Did Lynn have her baby?!′ The bunny hops to a room with a man standing there, his back to the door. I lower the hover down and start to walk, like a ghost. I look at the man, and I can see a little flicker of an angel wing from behind him.
I walk forward to get a better glimpse of who the man is. ’Well if it isn’t Orias.’ I think to myself. But there is something different about him.
I turn around to see a woman asleep. Her bracelet reads Baby Chastity Forrester. The little pink bundle of joy in her arms, fast asleep. Behind me, as I am watching the newborn in her arms, I can hear different voices.
I look at Orias, to get a better glimpse of what I am hearing, but all I can hear is mumbles. Orias walks up to the bed, with his sleeping wife in it. He stares at the baby with a solemn look on his face. The voices calm down, and I can begin to hear them, one by one. They start to take form in the supernatural realm that I am standing in. Circling him, poking him, mocking him. One of them speaks. “Look at what you’ve created. A baby, now you’re stuck with her. Get rid of her, right now, no one will notice.” The demon looks an awful lot like Lilith, but smaller.
Another demon says, “No, don’t kill her. Remember, that she will get older and you can do whatever you want with her.” The dark angel, Azazel says.
The two of them make quite a pair. Lilith wants the baby dead so that she can have, while Azazel wants him to do unspeakable things to her. They circled him some more, taunting him, teasing him. I had to try and stop it.
I reach out and grab both Lilith and Azazel by their necks and slam them against the arm ware in the room. The bump in the room makes a loud bang.
Orias is startled by the loud bang, turns around, just as a nurse enters the room. “Is everything alright, sir?” she says.
Assuming that the bang came from her
, he looks around the room, trying to make sure that there was nothing else in the room. He says to the nurse, “I’m alright.” He leaves the room.
The nurse shrugs and helps Chastity prepare for discharge. Once I was happy that the Forrester family was safe, I let go of the to demons in my hands.
Just as I let go, I am sucked back to my body, without any notice or preparation. I open my eyes and gasp for air, as I feel two sharp needles in my neck. A can feel the lips of a vampire has made a meal out of me. I can feel the life draining from my body.
“Thank you so much, Cain!” Lynn calls out.
After all these years, me fighting Cain. Him getting the better of me, once, I am stuck in his grasp of teeth. Now, I will be one of his followers.
I can feel a rush of poison going inside of me. My blood is being replaced with something else, entirely. Before long both Cain and I pass out.
A few minutes later, I wake up as a new vampire. I immediately notice my senses are different. I can see the exact details of the tile above my head, a spider that has made its home in one of the holes. I look all around the room to see what is going on. I look at the body on the floor. I turn to look at Lynn.
“Welcome back sweetie,” she says looking at me.
“How long have I been asleep?”
“A few days.”
“A few days? But I have been through so much.”
“I know, honey, and we can talk about all that later.”
“Who is he?” I point to the corpse on the ground.
“Oh, that is the Doctor. He’s… fine? That’s strange.”
“What?”
“Well, he’s a vampire. I was getting worried when I saw that you weren’t progressing. So, I asked him to change you. Might as well tell you now.”
“Okay,” I say.
“But it isn’t supposed to make him pass out.”
She gets up and turns over Cain’s body. When she turns him over, his lips are veined blue, and he is ultimately, dead.
“Cain?!” she says, panicking.
“Cain? You mean like, Cain and Abel?”
“Yes, like Cain and Abel. How did he die?”
“I’ll take him off your hands.” A tall, dark and handsome man says. This man presented himself like he has a lot of power. He is wearing the most beautiful pressed suit, tailored to fit his every muscle.
“No, not you!” Lynn says.
“Oh, come on.”
“Lucifer, if you come near my son’s body, I will kill you.”
“Lucifer?” I ask.
“Yes, do I know you?”
“Apparently not.”
I sit in the bed, shaking my head. A lot has happened, and now I am confused as to what is right or wrong. It is so hard to tell the difference. I lay back down and ignore my wife.
Could I have dreamt the whole thing?
Although, I am in a hospital. A baby was just born. Where exactly am I?
I lay back down and close my eyes, forcing myself to sleep.
Two weeks have gone by, and I am still in the hospital. The body of Cain is no longer around, and my wife seems to be missing in action, also. It is hard to figure out what I am supposed to do. If I am a vampire, I am technically dead. But what about my spiritual side? Am I a vampire?
At the foot of my bed, I feel two cold hands touch my feet. I look down to see my buddy, Gabriel.
“Hey man, how you feeling?”
“Like a demon has attacked me.”
“You should get that looked at.”
“Why do you think I’m here?” I sit up and try to make some sense with him, as to what is going on. “I am so confused right now, dude.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well, I dreamt that I am an angel. That I get lost in the biblical times. And I wake up and get bit by a vampire.”
“You’re an angel?!”
I nod my head, yes.
“I have known you for a long time, dude. You’re no angel.”
“Thanks, buddy.”
“A vampire, though?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, you do suck,” he says. I throw one of my pillows at him, hard. He catches it and throws it back. But when he throws it back, I cannot help but notice that there are two tiny red blood stains. About where my neck would have been laying.
“I think I will get a little shut-eye.”
“Well, just know that Peter and I miss you at the docks.”
“Thanks.” I sit there studying the pillow. Then I realized what he said to me, “Wait!” I get up and chase after him. But he was already gone. “I don’t get it.”
“Is everything alright, Mr. Sprite?”
“Yeah, I think I just need someone to drink.”
“Someone, sir?”
“I mean something.”
I sit back down on my bed, as the nurse comes in with a pink cup of water. While she sits the drink down, I am mesmerized by her neck. I can see the pulsating vein popping through.
“Can I get you anything else?”
My mind was racing, thinking, ’Yeah, break open your neck and let me drink from the tap,’ but I was doing my best to resist.
I think that my fear is coming true, that I am a vampire or at least becoming one.
Lynn is pushing me in a wheelchair, outside. The thought of me becoming a vampire was not sitting well in my mind. She wheeled me out to the garden.
“Sweetheart, I’m going to go get the car. Alright?”
Staring blankly at the street, I nod my head. She leaves my direct view.
I notice, to my left, a garden. In the garden was a very worried Orias. I look around and push myself out of the chair, and wobble over to him.
Orias sits still, not even looking at me. Azazel appears next to me, barking at me. “You know that he does not belong to God, right? So, he is fair game. So, do your worst. But know this, my turn is next.”
I took a deep breath in and faced Orias. “Mr. Forrester, you have received an unbelievable gift. Should you choose to ignore this fact, your life will not be the same. You are to steward Anna and raise her in love. Give her the things that you have never received, but dreamt of having yourself. Learn to be selfless and pour God’s love into your daughter. She needs to feel safe. Please get to know God for who he is. He is the Father that you never had. I know your heart appears broken beyond repair. This life you are living is not the answer. Should Anna service, you need to prepare to change. This will be your last chance. Show Chastity what a true man of God looks like, and break the generational curse. The one that your father saddled you with.”
An angry Azazel picks up a rock and hurls it at my face. I extend my arm and catch the rock a foot away from my face. I crunch the rock as I see Azazel turn away, laughing.
I look to the heavens, “God, please hear my effort to change the man’s mind.”
A portal opens up and takes me to Limbo, but I am unable to move. Almost like God wants me to witness something powerful. In the corner, I see a woman with snow-white hair. Her tired blue eyes give how exhausted her spirit is. I was carrying the woman into Limbo. However, the me that is carrying her is a manifestation of myself. He says, “God is it over so soon? She is the only chance this young couple has. Will they ever change in time?”
“I have much to share with you,” God says. “I am going to give you a choice. Should you choose to go back, your life will not be easy. At the same time, you will have the opportunity of bringing your parents to the choice of salvation. They will hear about who I am from you. Whether they choose to keep the words of caution or not, is their choice alone.”
The manifestation of myself bent down and looked shocked. God knew exactly what I was thinking. “Jacob, you know as well as I do,” God continues. “That no human that comes here, remains looking exactly as they did when they entered. I need to offer this to her, even though I know, what her choice will be. That is the beauty of free will. The decision is her own. If she remains a newborn, she will not be able to answer for herself.”
Anna investigates the bright light that glistened amongst her and smiles. “Yes, Lord, I will go back. I will do my very best to share Your love with my parents. Not only them but the world as well.”
God beamed with genuine pride, “Very well, my daughter. From this day forth, I will call you Jewel Promise. For I have given you a brand new kingdom identity. Your identity on earth is a vapor in the wind, my child. I want to give you something much more. You are my jewel to a dying world. You are my promise to your parents. A promise that I will give them time, to make their lives into what they need to be.”
I return to my prayer in the garden with Orias. I get up and head back inside the hospital to find Chastity.
I come to the nurse’s station to ask, “Where is Chastity Forrester?”
“Oh, she’s in the chapel.”
“Thanks.”
“Wait, are you family?!”
I ran as fast as my jiggly legs would carry me. The chapel was not far from the nurse’s station.
I walk inside the chapel to see Chastity sitting in the chapel. I can hear her crying as she is praying on her knees.
“Please, please, don’t take my little girl Lord. She is all I have at this point. I cannot do this without her. She was born with your favor in every part of her. I know you have a plan for her life. Please spare her life, and I will make my life into something you can proud of.”
A few tears fell from my face, as I heard the prayer. I watched with a serene look on my face, from the side of the room.
A few moments later, I notice Jesus standing in the midst. “Does she mean what she says,” I ask Jesus.
Jesus replies, “At the moment, yes. The long-term is another matter altogether. Anyone can and will beg for their child to remain on this earth. Due to the fact of them not wanting to lose them. At the same time, the long-term results of how Anna will live out her life is what the Father looks at. It is not always how the parents raise the child, that is the main determining factor. He takes all portions into thought and has since the dawn of time. God never simplifies His thoughts. He gives everyone an equal chance at living out this life. Anna has a free will as well. She can choose to make a difference in her parent’s life. To make a difference, not only in her own life but others she meets as well. Along with the outcome of where their life leads, from hearing about God from her. He takes every thought captive and does not discount any part. It is Orias and Chastity, who will have to make the ultimate choice to follow God. Anna has been born blameless, spotless, and innocent. She will indeed have her fair share of trials. But she will also choose to look beyond those times to make something righteous out of the unrighteous moments.”
I leave the chapel, to find little Anna’s room. I walk through the hallway, looking for the only room with a crib, near the chapel. He finds the room, and see’s Jesus in their vanishing. The heart monitor was going strong; the room is empty. I stand at her bedside, and I feel a secure connection with this little girl. Almost like, she was born to the wrong parents, that she would have been my daughter if I didn’t screw things up.
A drunk man stumbles into the room that Anna and I are in. ”Do you have any money so that I can get a cab ride home,” he says with a strong slur.
“That’s an interesting cologne you have on you, sir. What is it, vodka?”
“Hey man, if you’re donut gives me any mon… any monnn… just give me something.”
“I just got discharged from the hospital; I have no money. Get out, now!”
The drunk man, as usual, thinks that he is stronger than his own good. He swings at me, as I back out of the way. He hits a light wall, for X-Ray’s behind me and cuts open his knuckles. Being a drunk the blood is flowing fast.
The smell of the blood fills the air. I was so thirsty. As soon as I smelled the blood, my throat started to burn and itch. It was like the middle of August in Arizona. The scent was taking over my every being. I was standing there, following the smell from the ground to his hand.
He raised his hands up, as I stared at him with my hunter glare, “Forget the cash." And stumbles out of the room. I grip the chair, next to me. Breathe slowly, trying to control the urge, but I can smell the vodka induced blood walking out of the hospital. My instincts took over, and I was running after my meal.
I jumped high, came down, and tackled the man. I grabbed his pierced hand and began to drink from his body, like his hand was a straw.
The fangs in my mouth began to hurt. They were growing, causing a lot of pain in my mouth. The pain was overwhelming. I jumped up, high, my wings showed up, and I flew as high as my wings could carry me. A bright light appears, and a portal opens up.
I begin to fall, fast, towards the Eternity building. I hit, the top corner, hard, and fall to the ground. I pick myself up, to see the hellhound looking at the hole that was no longer open. Confused.
Leviathan looks at me and starts to lunge towards me, with hellhound following. I catch the hellhound by her mouth. I scream, with my vampire fangs showing, and tear the hellhound in half.
Leviathan, transforms himself into the dragon that I saw eat Samuel. He opens and closes his mouth on me. I stop the mouth from closing all the way. I punch up and cause him to spit me out. He transforms himself back down to his usual form, bleeding from his mouth.
Samael and Michael both look at me, confused. Samael engulfs himself in flame and goes away.
Michael walks up to me. “Now that’s how you fight a dragon!” he says in excitement. He raises his hand up high, and I meet his with my open hand five.
Lynn, standing by the doorway to Eternity, holding one of her arms, comfortably. I walk to her and see her standing there, in all of her beauty. Smiling.
“Welcome back,” she says.
“You knew?”
I look down at her belly and realize that she is no longer pregnant. The woman that was behind the desk in eternity is David, now.
“We need to talk,” she says.
“Yeah,” I respond.
