His Lethal Love

Chapter 81

Camille POV.

"I'm not stupid, Scott," I gnashed my teeth, staring at him angrily. "You tossed me out of your life like trash and here you're saying you love me. If you truly loved me, Scott, you would never do that to me. You never..." I choked. "I'm sorry for what you have been through in the last four years, Cami," he said sincerely.

"I don't even know why I am talking to you in the first place." I sprang to my feet, headed out but Scott shot out his hand and grasped my wrist, and stopped me from leaving.

"Cam," he whispered and pulled me into him. "I have loved you since the day I first laid eyes on you. It was you who never accepted me because I was poor. You should look at the past and think about who was wrong. Just think Camille where I was wrong and where you were wrong."

"You loved Maura!" I pointed my finger at his chest angrily. "She was all you had been looking for. You have always hurt me, Scott. Now you're here to tell me you love me?" I scoffed. "This time I won't let you win this game. You'll regret every moment of your life. I'll make you regret meeting me again, trust me, Scott. I'll make you feel sorry for everything you have done."

A smile appeared on his face as he brushed my hair off my face, holding my eyes. His gaze was amused as if he admired me more. "You know I like your changed attitude. You're feisty and confident. I like that you believe in yourself. At least I do not have to worry about you and my daughter. You have become strong enough to fight your own battles, Cam..." My skin tingled when he glanced at my lips briefly. "But I'll win your heart again, sweetheart."

I shoved him away from me roughly, flexing my jaw. "In your dreams."

"You have always been in my dreams, baby." My heart skittered when he brushed his thumb on my lips, staring at them like he wanted to kiss me.

I rose to my feet and disappeared into the room. It took me a while to calm my palpitating heart down. My hands were shaking and my breath was uneven. Every time Scott touched me it enticed me. I didn't know how to stop myself from attracting him. He told me he didn't marry Maura which was completely shocking to me because my investigator didn't tell me that news. He might not discover that. The whole world thought those two were married but in reality, they were not.

God, I'm getting baffled by his game.

*******

I got a call from my manager. I had a photoshoot that day. After getting ready I headed out but Scott interrupted me.

"I'll drop you off since we're both heading to the same place."

"How do you know where I am going?" I raised my brows.

"We had a photoshoot together. It's a promotional shoot for our upcoming movie."

Damn! I didn't want to do a photoshoot with him. I forced myself into his car and waited for our destination. Scott seemed busy talking on his phone. He had been in London for a couple of weeks and he would stay there until the next movie's shooting. Since the day Colette was admitted to the hospital, I have canceled all my appointments. I had a few commercials for big brands but I let these opportunities go because my daughter's life was more significant than anything else. Money has never been a problem in the last four years. I always choose my projects very carefully. I had done movies but not a single one enjoyed the same popularity as Scott's. Lately, he had been spending most of his time either with Colette or in his penthouse. I wondered how he would get this much time after being one of the most-paid actors in Hollywood. Although I admired his talent, I hated everything else about him.

"You got my best friend at your side," I said bitterly without looking at him.

"Since she has no one she chooses to be with me," Scott said with satisfaction. "Unintentionally you're hurting her. She was excited to meet you but you just gave her cold shoulders. This was kind of harsh. I would never do that to my best friend. She deserves nothing but your respect."

"I respect her and you don't need to tell me how to treat my friend." I rolled my eyes. Scott was right. I should never give my friend a cold shoulder when she was the one who saved my life. Because of Conan, I was unable to talk to her. I still loved her as much as I did in the past. "Conan hates her."

"She hates you dating her enemy," Scott replied.

"It was Rika who hurt Conan," I snapped.

"I'm not sure who hurt who but she told me Conan tried to auction her house but you didn't stop him from doing that."

"He was just threatening her. It was not his intention to auction her house. It was just his small revenge for scaring her." "Come on, Cam, I just paid thousands of dollars to save her house."

"You paid for who?"

"I paid Conan."

"But he told me..." My words trailed off as I recalled my last conversation with Conan. He told me everything had been sorted out between him and Rika. He would not hold a grudge against her any longer. Did he lie to me?

Scott said nothing but I could see curiosity in his eyes. We ended our conversation once we reached our destination where the photoshoot took place. My manager quickly approached me with a tense smile on her face. "Your photoshoot is with Mr. Martinez. I forgot to mention it earlier. Are you comfortable with that?"

"If you told me earlier I would have canceled this photo session." I hissed out at her.

"I'm sorry but you signed this film, right? Sooner or later you'll need to shoot for promotion with a male character."

"Uh...yes..." I nodded bitterly, glancing at Scott who was busy talking to the director and photographer.

After changing into our shooting clothes, we started shooting. Scott wore a long black coat with a hat on top, and I wore a black frock with a flower hat. I looked like Marilyn Monroe. We stood in the middle of the platform facing the cameras. My skin prickled when Scott placed one leg between my thighs and wrapped his muscular arm around my waist, pulling me closer to him. His hot breath blew across my face, making me breathless.

"You look so beautiful, Cam." He smiled and caused me to blush. I was a bit uncomfortable while photo-shooting with him. His intense eyes made me feel tense and twitchy.

"Look into each other's eyes," the photographer instructed and we obeyed him. We locked our eyes, staring at each other.

Scott smiled when he saw how red I was becoming in his arms. I had done numerous photo sessions but not once did I feel self-conscious. I had always been confident but I was losing it due to his proximity. They snapped our pictures before we changed into another pose. After clicking a picture we headed into the changing rooms for the next photo shoot. The makeup artist faked the wounds on my forehead, my lips burst, my clothes were ripped, and I had a few marks on my arms and legs. In the movie, we had a scene where the heroine was wounded while saving her husband Scott Martinez.

When I walked out I saw Scott. He was completely unrecognizable with his makeover. He had long hair, so his wounds were more noticeable. He was wearing dirty and ripped clothes. In our movie, a man is imprisoned for ten years for a crime he did not commit and is saved by his wife, aka me. The movie had a great female lead role instead of a male lead, so I did not understand why Scott chose this movie. He had never done this kind of movie before. He mostly preferred Science fiction and adventure.

Brushing this thought aside, I continued on my way. The photographer guides us on how to pose. Scott was sitting on his knees. I lowered myself and grabbed his head, kissing his forehead. My heart was doing strange kinds of flutters while doing this pose. It seemed so real to me. Scott watched with eyes I had never seen before. He wrapped his arm around my body and hugged me tightly.

Damn! It is part of the shoot.

His head pressed against my chest as he squeezed his eyes, changing his expression to one of pain and gloom. He sank completely into his character. I prayed for the end of that shoot. The closer I got to him, the more my heart melted. Scott was playing his character but he looked so real to me. His smile, his cry, and his eyes. Everything screamed perfection.

"Now for the kissing scene." The photographer said.

"What?" I shot my eyes at him.

"You two will kiss each other."

I looked back at Scott who was smiling in amusement.

Asshole.

Since this was just part of my job I had to do that. I inhaled deeply and let Scott grab my face. He tilted his head to reach my mouth. Once his lips touched mine, my body throbbed with need.

Shit!

It was difficult to breathe while his mouth was stuck to me.

"Closer..." the photographer said and Scott pulled me closer to him. I so badly wanted to shove my heels into that asshole photographer. I felt my heartbeat mingling with his and our breathing matched. I grabbed his face, breathing heavily and kissing him back.

"Good. you two have got something in between." the director said with a laugh.

I ripped away from him when the photo shoot was over and wiped my mouth. I disappeared into the makeup room and breathed hard. My heart was throbbing under my chest. Conan had never impacted my body the way Scott did. I couldn't stop myself from needing his touch whenever he was around me. The more he touched the more my body needed him. Why the hell did he have this impact on my body despite everything he did to me? I wanted to hate him but my body reacted in a different way to his every touch.

After changing, Scott entered my makeup room. He was back in his crisp blue suit and his hair was slicked.

"Can I see Colette?" He asked with hesitation.

I combed my hair and smoothed my dress. I wanted to refuse him but then Colette's face flashed into my head. She looked genuinely happy whenever she saw Scott and her happiness was my happiness. I gave him a nod and a wide smile appeared on his face.

"Thanks," he said. "Are you coming with me?"

"No." I spat. "I'll go see her with Conan later. I have a busy schedule today."

"Okay, fine." He sighed and walked away.

I would visit Colette after he leaves. I just didn't feel satisfied by accompanying him. I hated spending time with him. The more I spend time with him the more satisfied he becomes. I was there for revenge not for pleasure.
