High School Terrans

Chapter 6

Kyle called Sarah up seeing if she wanted to go to the beach which she enthusiastically said yes. He picked her up and they walked on the beach together just as the setting sun illuminated their faces.

“So from what I know you have telekinesis. How did you come to have all of the abilities?” Sarah asked.

“They were developed over time,” he said. “The next natural step in evolution. There is a prevailing theory that people only use ten percent of their brains capacity but we are able to tap into the whole one hundred percent.”

“But that’s incredible,” she said astonished. “With that much power you could....”

“Conquer and take over the world,” Kyle said smirking, shaking his head. “That was never anyone’s intent. Our reasoning for coming here was to live peacefully. We really aren’t that much different than Earth people.”

“I heard stories that your world has some kind of ecological disaster.”

“Yeah, our sun became too close to our planet. Burned the entire surface right off.”

“Oh God,” she said grasping his arm. “I’m sorry.”

“It’s alright. Some of us were too young to remember but I still have a couple of good memories.”

“So what made you choose Earth to live on?”

“There is an old belief that our ancestors came from here. Evidence was found that traced their origins back to Earth and if proof could be found here it would show that the stories were true.”

“What do you remember the most about your world?”

“I could remember standing on the beach just like this one staring out past the horizon’s edge watching the waves roll to the shore.”

Kyle looked out at the ocean smiling and turning back to Sarah.

“I’ve got an idea. Do you trust me?”

“Yeah, why?” she said quizzically.

“Hold on to me.”

Kyle wrapped his arms around Sarah starting to levitate over the water along the shore. Sarah gasped but had an awed amazed look on her face flying up into the sky where twilight had started. Kyle flew and floated down into an amusement park pier in front of the Merry Go Round. The park had been closed for the evening with nobody but Kyle and Sarah around.

“Get on,” Kyle said.

“But nobody is around to operate it.”

“Don’t worry,” he said smiling. “I can take care of that.”

Sarah and Kyle sat down on one of the benches behind the colorful horses. He placed his hand on the side and automatically it starts to move around with all the kaleidoscope lights and calliope music coming to life.

“Whoa,” Sarah said feeling jolted.

They both turned to each other looking thoughtfully smiling together. The two leaned in closer kissing each other gently as Kyle used his other hand gingerly cupping the side of her face. In that moment Kyle remembered an old Earth saying about love at first sight. He knew right away now that it was possible.
