Chapter 62
Chapter 62
Diana preened at herself in the mirror with confidence, she looked so classy but also bitchy as everything she wore exposed what it covered underneath
Her phone began to ring and she checked it, Sam was calling. She sighed, she hadn't talked to Sam ever since her breakup with Liam.
She just wanted to be on her own and process life herself this time. Ever since she and Greg had begun hanging out, she hadn't felt lonely or unsatisfied. She loved what she felt with Greg. She didn't love him but she wanted him. That's sincerity and like-mindedness.
"Hi" She said in a dead voice but Sam wasn't taking that.
"Are you serious?! We've not talked in ages and you're not even sounding like you want to talk". Sam feigned fury.
"I was avoiding talks about Liam. I just wanted to be in my space".
"Wow! I'm your friend and I understand that you need to process things after your breakup. I'm not insensitive, please". Sam corrected.
"All right. Thanks for calling because I'm about to leave for a big concert today". Diana concluded and ended the call.
"Phew! If she heard about my escapades, she would have blown off the roof. But, I have to move on and this is the only way, I know how". She mumbled, as she applied some more blush to her cheeks. She liked it when her blush was shouty.

Diana sat at the bar, staring at the bottle of whiskey in front of her. She had driven straight to a bar to drown the voices in her head.
She couldn't be weak! Liam couldn't be in her head! The concert had been the worst idea because she had met Liam there. Cooling off with some girls and dang was she jealous?
But as the hours passed and the bottle slowly emptied, Diana began to realize that drinking wasn't helping her feel any better. In fact, it was only making things worse. She was starting to feel sick and dizzy, and she knew that she needed to stop.
Just as she was about to call it a night, her phone rang. It was her friend, Sam. Diana had been avoiding Sam's calls for weeks, not wanting to deal with anyone's concern or judgment. But tonight, she was feeling particularly low, and she decided to answer.
"Hey, Sam," Diana said, her voice slurred. "What's up?"
"Oh my God, Diana," Sam said, her voice filled with concern. "Where are you? Are you okay?"
"I'm at the bar," Diana said, taking another swig of whiskey. "I'm fine."
"You don't sound fine," Sam said. "I'm coming to get you. You're in no condition to be driving."
Diana didn't protest as Sam showed up a few minutes later and helped her into the car. She knew that her friend was right, and she was grateful for the ride home.
But as Sam drove, she couldn't stop talking about Liam and the breakup. She kept telling Diana that she needed to move on and that God would heal her heart. Diana was getting more and more annoyed with each passing minute.
"I don't want to talk about it, Sam," Diana said, interrupting her friend. "I just want to forget about it and move on."
"I understand that you're hurting," Sam said, her voice gentle. "But you can't keep running from your feelings. You need to deal with them and find a way to heal."
"I have found a way to heal. In fact, I'm healed already. Just this concert was a bad idea". Diana grumbled. Sam's curiosity heightened.
"What happened at the concert?" Sam tried to sound calm but her voice had raised by few decibels and Diana struggled to understand if it was excitement or worry.
"Don't worry. I'm fine." Diana drawled, before adding "Liam can't claim my thoughts or actions when he had his beautiful life ahead of him."
"If this is how you feel that you've healed, then you're joking. Diana, you can't keep denying your feelings for Liam. You never heal through denials. Accept that you still love him and then overcome them". Sam's words were making sense but it had been better for Diana to kiss a snake than accept them.

"You say so because Kenneth isn't a liar. I can't have any darn feelings for a man who lies to the same girl he says he loves. Yuck!" She crumpled her face in disgust.
Sam shook her head and turned to her friend "You're being childish and it will do you more harm than any good".
"Hahaha, motivational speaker or should I call you a psychologist? You know if I wasn't so drunk, I will be driving and certainly not turning my head to any direction apart from the road. I just had a breakup and I'm not ready to be killed, watch what you're driving, thanks". Every one of Diana's words dripped in sarcasm and Sam was visibly hurt.
"You didn't tell me exactly why you ended in the bar though..." Sam drawled
"Don't try to play smart with me. I have said I don't want to talk about it. You should know better than asking again ". Diana said, her voice rising.
Sam sighed and shook her head. "I'm worried about you, Diana. You're not acting like yourself. You're sleeping with different guys and drinking all the time. This isn't healthy."
"I don't need you to tell me how to live my life," Diana said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "I can do whatever I want. And right now, I want to have fun and forget about Liam."
Sam didn't say anything else as they arrived at Diana's apartment. She helped her friend inside and left her with a worried look on her face.
Over the next few weeks, Diana continued to drink and sleep around, trying to numb the pain of her breakup. But no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't escape the emptiness and loneliness that seemed to follow her everywhere. She avoided Sam's calls and texts, not wanting to deal with her friend's concern. She knew that Sam was only trying to help, but Diana was too proud and stubborn to accept it.
